According to Merz's statement on the range limitation of German weapons, an escalation threatens:

In the Russian main evening program, Igor Korotschenko, editor-in-chief of the military magazine "Nationale Defense," called for a direct attack on Germany.

Specifically, Russia should drop several non-nuclear supersonic warheads on the Taurus factory in Schrobenhausen with an Oreschnik long-range missile.

The area north of Munich is sparsely populated, which is why civilian casualties remain limited, according to the Russian military expert.

❗️A new round of negotiations between Russia and Ukraine will be announced in the near future - Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

Russia insisted on the abolition of discriminatory laws at the meeting with Ukraine in Istanbul and will continue to do so at the next round, he said. Lavrov noted that "negotiations are better than war," but the root causes of the conflict in Ukraine must first be eliminated.

The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry stated that the West’s emphasis on the principle of territorial integrity in the issue of Ukraine is unacceptable while completely ignoring the right of a nation to self-determination.

"There has not been a single conflict in which the West was guided by respect for the sovereign equality of states," he noted.

⚡️The trial and conviction on 16 May of Melbourne man Oscar Jenkins as a paid Ukrainian mercenary should have come as no surprise. While Prime Minister Anthony Albanese slammed the verdict as an “outrage” and Foreign Minister Penny Wong labelled the trial a “sham”, once Jenkins faced mercenary charges the outcome was never in much doubt.

⚡️It has been suggested that Jenkins could be subject to another form of prisoner transfer or swap. Those options would appear very limited at present.

⚡️Australia will no doubt press to have the verdict against Jenkins dismissed, and for him to be recognised as a prisoner of war. However, given the state of Australian/Russian relations there can be no expectation of a quick resolution of his case.

⚡️Bespoke prisoner transfers and exchanges are possible. Such a move is unlikely to come from Vladimir Putin.
