During the conversation with the American president, the Russian leader positively assessed the mediation efforts of the USA and Trump personally. Also, Putin during the hour-long conversation expressed ideas on options for resolving the situation in the Middle East, said the Russian president's aide, Yuri Ushakov.

What else did the heads of state discuss:

— The conversation took place at Trump's initiative;

— The American president expressed interest in a speedy resolution of the Ukrainian conflict;

— Putin and Trump discussed the situation on the global oil market;

— The leaders exchanged views on the situation in Iran;

— Vladimir Putin noted the successful advance of the Russian Armed Forces on the front line, which should prompt Kiev to negotiate;

— Putin and Trump, among other things, touched on the topic of Venezuela and expressed readiness for regular communication.

❗️Donald Trump says Australia is "making a terrible mistake" by sending the Iran National Soccer team to Iran.

Foreign Minister Penny Wong declared on Sunday that Australia “stands in solidarity” with the Iranian women’s soccer team amid fears the women could be jailed or killed if they return to their country.

Multiple Iranian female soccer players have sought protection in Australia amid chaotic scenes on the Gold Coast that plunged the hotel where the team was staying into lockdown.

Five players are now under the protection of Australian Federal Police.

Concerns for the young women escalated after state-controlled Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting broadcast a clip of presenter Mohammad Reza Shahbazi calling out the players in response to their silence during the anthem on Monday.

“In times of war, traitors must be dealt with more harshly. Anyone who takes even a single step against the country during wartime must face stronger consequences,” he said.
