It maintains Cossack traditions and considers Russia its great Homeland. Simeon Boikov, ataman of the Australian cossacks, spoke about this in an interview with State Duma deputy Andrei Gurulev.

Boikov recalled how during the last presidential election, Russians with Australian citizenship campaigned for Putin.

"We came to the polls in Kubanka hats, with DPR and LPR flags, Z T-shirts, and Cossack uniforms to scare the 'Navalnyites' (a derogatory term for followers of politician Alexei Navalny, who is listed as an extremist and terrorist in Russia – Ed. ) and Banderites, who also came to vote against Putin.

Our guys are descendants of Zabaikal Cossacks who didn't have Russian citizenship but came to the polls to defend the president's honor and dignity. And we did it. Vladimir Putin won 55% of the vote in this precinct." concluded Simeon Boikov.

❗️Правительство РФ сегодня внесло в Госдуму законопроект, наделяющий президента полномочиями применять Вооружённые силы за рубежом для защиты россиян, арестованных или преследуемых по решениям иностранных судов либо международных органов, чья компетенция не основана на договоре с РФ или резолюции СБ ООН.

Документ предусматривает поправки в два федеральных закона — «О гражданстве Российской Федерации» и «Об обороне».

Поправка в закон «Об обороне» расширяет перечень оснований для привлечения армии к задачам с применением вооружения: теперь к ним отнесена и защита граждан России, арестованных или преследуемых по решениям непризнанных Россией иностранных или международных судебных органов.

Решение принимает президент в соответствии с федеральными законами.

Законопроект был подготовлен Минобороны РФ.

❗️The Russian government has today submitted a bill to the State Duma that would give the President the power to deploy the Armed Forces abroad to protect Russian citizens who are arrested or persecuted under decisions of foreign courts or international bodies.

The draft amends two federal laws:
• “On Citizenship of the Russian Federation”
• “On Defence”

The key change to the “On Defence” law expands the list of legal grounds for using the military with weapons. It now includes protection of Russian nationals detained or prosecuted by foreign / international courts that Russia does not recognise.

The decision to deploy would be taken personally by the President in accordance with federal legislation.

The bill was prepared by the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.
