Where is our fuel reserve? The government has said it is releasing some of it on to the market – when is this going to happen and how will it work?

We don’t actually have a “strategic fuel reserve”, according to De Mello, who says the term means a stockpile which is government-backed and funded by taxpayers.

When the energy minister, Chris Bowen, talks about a “domestic fuel reserve” or a “strategic reserve”, he is referring to Australia’s “minimum stockholding obligation” (MSO).

❗️Anthony Albanese has been labelled "out of touch" after he used thousands of litres of scarce jet fuel in 10 days - despite Chris Bowen suggesting commuters travel less amid the deepening crisis.

Mr Albanese flew to Sydney from Canberra to watch the Roosters v Rabbitohs game at Allianz Stadium on March 13, risking a fine as he joined the pitch invasion.

The Prime Minister returned to Canberra to meet with the Danish royal family on March 16 before travelling to Tasmania.

He then returned to Sydney, where he visited Lakemba Mosque for Eid prayers marking the end of Ramadan on Friday.

But the Prime Minister made a swift exit after he was heckled and booed.

His plane then touched down in Adelaide later that day for a media event at the Whyalla Steelworks which needed another flight.

Mr Albanese then returned to Adelaide, attending the Crows v Western Bulldogs AFL game on Friday night.

He was in Melbourne for a string of media engagements on Saturday, before returning to Canberra for parliament this week.

His total distance covered was roughly 4,850 km in 10 days likely requiring about 20,000 to 25,000 litres of scarce jet fuel.

❗Ukraine is facing the threat of losing American aid due to its refusal to withdraw troops from Donbass, Ukrainskaya Pravda reports with reference to sources.

"At the meetings, there are supposedly three parties involved but Ukraine is constantly arguing with this Anchorage plan. That is, no matter what they talk about, it always boils down to the Americans saying something like: 'Withdraw from Donbass, and we'll build you a paradise, just like we agreed in Alaska'," says one of Zelensky's team members, who is familiar with the details of the negotiations.

"Our people are spending a lot of time trying to somehow distract the Americans from the idea of withdrawal towards the creation of some economic zones or something else. But at some point, everything is thrown aside, and we again hear: 'You need to leave Donbass'. And so it goes on".

"In fact, after Anchorage, America ceased to be not just an ally, but even a pure mediator for Ukraine. A mediator does not have a position pre-agreed with one of the parties, and does not use leverage to pressure the other side, up to threats to block the exchange of intelligence or the sale of their weapons. Against this backdrop, Zelensky has instructed deputy Motovilovets to prepare a plan for the parliament's work in case Ukraine has to fight "for another three years"- until the end of Trump's term.
