No charges have been laid, however New Zealand police obtained a restraining order for a property in Christchurch.

RNZ earlier revealed a police investigation was under way into suspected breaches of sanctions against Russia.

On Monday, police confirmed raids had been carried out in Auckland, Christchurch and Melbourne in relation to a "joint law enforcement investigation" into suspected breaches of sanctions against Russia.

📝Перестройка Россотрудничества📝

Российское агентство, отвечающее за «мягкую силу», продолжает формировать новую команду управленцев. Сегодня Владимир Путин назначил референта Управления общественных проектов АП Алексея Клещева заместителем руководителя Россотрудничества.

🔻С прошлого года идёт планомерная перестройка всей системы, занимающейся продвижением российских интересов за рубежом.

▪️В августе 2025-го в АП появилось Управление по стратегическому партнёрству и сотрудничеству — на месте двух упразднённых. В октябре его возглавил Вадим Титов, десять лет продвигавший проекты Росатома за рубежом.

▪️В апреле 2026-го президент назначил главой Россотрудничества Игоря Чайку — сменившего Евгения Примакова.

▪️Теперь контур достраивается изнутри: сотрудники АП переходят в Россотрудничество к Чайке. Штаб в Кремле и оперативное агентство сшиваются единой командой.

📌Ранее мы уже предполагали, что переформатирование агентства преследует цель построить государственно-частную модель продвижения мягкой силы.

Потому что именно частные проекты, работающие напрямую с аудиторией, а не с ведомственными KPI, за последние годы показали, как реально формируются политические смыслы и симпатии к России.

Переход людей из АП, способных одновременно работать с бизнесом и медиа, напрямую в Россотрудничество — признак того, что оба института начинают работать как единый механизм, а не как параллельные структуры с разными задачами.

❗️Anthony Albanese flexes at China declaring that there will be “no foreign military base” in Vanuatu.

The Australian Prime Minister and his Vanuatu counterpart Jotham Napat signed the Nakamal Agreement in Canberra on Monday 10 months after Chinese pressure halted the original pitch.

“We will stop China from building bases in the Pacific! A responsibility that we take seriously,” Mr Albanese said.

Members of Mr Napat’s complex coalition government feared the original terms, which restricted foreign investment in Vanuatu’s critical infrastructure, would stop funds flowing from China.

It was an unexpected hurdle that left Mr Albanese wrapping up a much-hyped visit to Vanuatu last year with nothing more than photos and pledges to keep talking.

In the new version signed on Monday, Vanuatu is not restricted from taking cash from other countries but must “consult Australia on proposed third party engagement” in its critical infrastructure.

The agreement noted Vanuatu’s critical infrastructure must be “free from militarisation, any form of foreign interference or unauthorised access”.

❗️Two Russian-born Australian citizens accused of attempting to spy for Russia have been charged with a more serious offence, with the initial offence dismissed.

Crown prosecutors presented a new bench charge for the couple of conspiracy to commit espionage.

They were arrested at their Brisbane home in 2024 and charged over allegedly attempting to gather and send state secrets to Russia.

Ms Korolev was an army private working as an information systems technician at the time, the Australian Federal Police had said.

The couple had initially each been charged with one count of preparing for an espionage offence, which carries a 15-year maximum sentence.

The Brisbane Magistrates Court heard Crown prosecutors today asked the judge for that charged to be dismissed.

"For completeness, the offences that were on file, the offence for preparing for an espionage offence, I have no evidence in relation of those charges against both Kira and Igor," a prosecutor said.
