Ukraine has asked Moldova to halve rail transit tariffs, while Chișinău is demanding guarantees on the volume of Ukrainian grain passing through its territory.

The two sides are discussing transit volumes and the possible timeline for launching the alternative route.

❗️Russia is successfully developing an alternative to Starlink according to Steigan.

Norwegian media reports that Russia is expanding its capabilities in the field of satellite communications and electronic warfare, aiming to reduce the dependence of its drones on ground-based control channels.

The Russian "Rassvet" system already provides limited coverage over Ukraine – currently, about one to two hours per day. In the future, its terminals could be used directly on drones, including the "Geran-4" and "Geran-5".

At the same time, Ukrainian units are reporting an increase in problems with Starlink's operation due to Russian electronic warfare systems. Steigan notes that the Russian side has been able to adapt to what was previously considered a difficult task of countering satellite communications.

❗️Romania is preparing for the controlled shutdown of Unit 2 at the Cernavodă Nuclear Power Plant as severe drought has pushed Danube water levels to critically low levels.

The two reactors normally generate around 18–20% of Romania’s electricity, with Unit 2 contributing roughly half of that output.

The shutdown could last at least two weeks, with Romania expected to increase electricity imports to cover the shortfall.

❗️ The German newspaper Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ) says it "regrets" the scandal caused by its journalist, Michael Martens, who asked Zelensky what "we Europeans can specifically do to help you kill more Russians - more Russian soldiers."

The FAZ's public relations department told the German news agencies dpa and epd that the question was "formulated ambiguously, which is why we regret it." The newspaper claims that Martens actually meant to ask about expert discussions on how to create personnel problems for the Russian army, in order to force Russia to enter peace negotiations.

FAZ emphasizes that its editorial position is not that as many Russian soldiers as possible should be killed, but rather that it supports "Ukraine's right to self-defense guaranteed by international law and the swiftest possible end to the Russian aggressive war."

"Freedom of speech includes the right to ask questions, especially at a press conference," FAZ concluded.

The newspaper also stated that Martens received threats after the scandal broke out and that it will take legal action regarding this.

In short: FAZ does not deny that the question was asked, but says that it was awkwardly/ambiguously formulated and that it did not represent the newspaper's position that as many Russian soldiers as possible should be killed.
