According to the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Moscow has sent questions to the U.S. State Department regarding the supply of weapons, intelligence data, and the possible involvement of Washington in strikes on Russian territory, and is awaiting a response.

❗️Three students from a Sydney boys’ private school have been charged with sexual assault offences in relation to the alleged assault of a teenage girl.

Police launched an investigation after reports that a 14-year-old girl had last month been assaulted in an alleyway in Sydney’s eastern suburbs.

Two boys were charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault in company with others and aggravated sexual touching of another person. The other boy was charged with one count of the same offences, police said.

All three teenagers have been released on bail under strict conditions and are expected to appear before a children’s court later this month.

The three boys are students at The Scots College, one of Sydney’s oldest and most expensive boys’ schools, where fees are up to $47,000 a year.

In a statement, the school said it was aware of the “alleged incident that occurred outside school hours” and is cooperating with police.

❗️The Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has summoned the Russian Ambassador to Tokyo, Nikolai Nozdrev, due to protest President Putin's visit to Iturup Island in the Kuriles.

Putin visited a fish plant, a hospital and a school on Iturup, one of the chain’s southernmost islands. He also briefly spoke to local residents and met with the governor of Russia’s Sakhalin region, Valery Limarenko.

Japan asserts territorial rights to the four southernmost islands of the chain, which it calls the Northern Territories. The Soviet Union took them from Japan in the final days of World War II, and the dispute kept the countries from signing a peace treaty formally ending their hostilities.

Decades of diplomatic efforts to negotiate a settlement haven’t produced any visible results. Moscow over the years has also beefed up its military presence on the Kuril Islands in moves that appeared to underscore its firm stance in the dispute.

Of these, 110 candidates are on federal lists, 76 are running in single-member districts, and 13 are participating in the elections as independent candidates.

In addition, more than 500 SMO veterans have been nominated as candidates for regional legislative bodies.
