Протоиерей Михаил Васильев - тот, кто не просто говорил о служении, а жил им каждую минуту. Для него не существовало «не могу», «не успеваю» или «это не моё дело». Он не заставлял никого идти за ним - он просто шёл первым: в пыльные окопы, на учения, в солдатские стоянки. И люди шли за ним, потому что видели: он не просит того, чего не делает сам.

Погиб на СВО. Посмертно удостоен звания Героя России. Его отпевал Патриарх в Храме Христа Спасителя.
