Frolic is a dance/club event run by and for furries. That said, pups are always welcome, and over the years more and more have been attending. I'd say it currently feels like 80% furries and 20% pups, and of course there are furries who are also pups (like myself), and vice versa.

It's not a mosh (no mats, and you won't see many people getting down on all fours, or tossing balls, etc.), but rather a dance/social event with a lineup of furry/pup DJs spinning all night. In the front portion of the venue the music is louder and more for shaking your tail; and in the larger rear portion it is lower and better for socializing.

There is a supervised changing room and fursuit bin storage space in the back, as well as a regular coat check in the front for smaller backpacks and such.

In terms of attire, you'll see people wearing everything from full fursuits to just jockstraps and a hood/mask. The vibe is described as sexy but not sexual (ie, sexual activity is not allowed, but some light groping is fine). Folks start arriving around 8pm and by 11pm the place is usually packed.

Sadly, it seems that in any community there will always be a small group of folks who are bothered by others not exactly like them and make their views known. The furry fandom is no exception (which I find especially ironic as that's exactly the complaint furries have about how mainstream society often views the fandom).

But, rest assured that the vast majority of furies (certainly the ones I've known in my 20+ years in the Bay Area furry fandom), don't have an issue with pups, and some are actually quite curious about pup play and have entered the world of pups either partially or completely.

So, yes, there's unfortunately a small minority of insecure furs who feel that pup play is somehow encroaching on furry events and trying to take over, or are sexualizing the fandom (lol 😂), or giving it a bad name (lol lol lol), or somehow having an adverse impact, and they are vocal about it.

I'd say ignore them; they are quite the minority. And if they start becoming a problem or making anyone feel unwelcome or uncomfortable, feel free to bring it up with the larger furry community and some will have a little chat with them. Certainly the organizers of Frolic, or FC or PawCon will (the major local furry events).

Personally, I hope to see more pups at furry events like Frolic, and more pup play panels and dedicated mosh spaces at cons like FC and PawCon.

Sounds like my type of event!

I went to a furry car show as a pup and socializing with others is fun 😊

But there were a group of furs that absolutely DID NOT want to associate with pups at all. Most were chill but a minority were not the most welcoming of people 😢

Its pretty furry focused, and I mainly go because a lot of my friends are congregated in one location. Im specifically hyped for this one because I am encouraging everyone to wear gear :)
