Last night, I made an astonishing discovery. Last week, I got a ton of old family photo albums out of storage. This one, I had never seen before. In 1982, my mother did a European tour when she was at Santa Barbara High School and it’s funny that she shot on negatives when most people were still shooting on slides back then. But then, on one of the negatives, I discovered this: It's Charles and Diana, one year into their doomed marriage. I was gobsmacked. This photograph has probably never seen the light of day for 40 years until now. Restoring photos is a lot like treasuring hunting.
