🇺🇸❌🇹🇷🇵🇸 — On March 25, 2025, Greek Independence Day, a Turkish PhD. student named Rumeysa Ozturk was detained by masked U.S. ICE agents while heading to an Iftar dinner in Massachusetts, Northeastern United Stated

Ozturk, who held a F-1 visa and studied at Tufts University, was reportedly being watched for two days before her arrest.

She was on the phone with her mother when she was arrested.

Ozturk had co-authored an op-ed urging Tufts to accuse Israel of "genocide" against Gazan Palestinian and divest from firms linked to Israel, something which PSL & PFLP-affiliated solidarity networks have been pushing since October 7, 2023, in support of Hamas and other FTOs fighting in Gaza against the Jewish State

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and ICE have stated that their investigations found Ozturk "engaged in activities in support of Hamas," which they classify as a foreign terrorist organization under U.S. law (specifically, Hamas is designated as such by the U.S. Department of State under Section 219 of the Immigration and Nationality Act).

Her visa was revoked and she now is set to be deported back to Türkiye

As expected, AKP-affiliated Turkish media & Pro-Palestine activists blamed it on "Islamophobia & White-Jewish Supremacy rooted on Trump administration"
