Trump vs Harris: Does it make any difference for China?

Both US presidential candidates regrettably “not only have virtually indistinguishable policies regarding China, they have demonstrated during their respective time in office a bipartisan commitment to escalating tensions” with Beijing, Brian Berletic, a geopolitical analyst and former US Marine, tells Sputnik.

The candidates “present this singular continuity of agenda with their own respective spin – Donald Trump in a more nationalistic manner, and Kamala Harris by linking it to upholding the US-led ‘international order’.”

Washington “has continuously encouraged separatism on the island province of Taiwan by first stationing, then expanding the presence of US troops on Taiwan itself, and rapidly transforming the US military including the entire US Marine Corps to fight a future war with China off its own coasts over Taiwan, internationally recognized as Chinese territory.”

Both candidates plan to continue using Taiwan as a “pressure point” to provoke tensions between China and nations “the US still exercises considerable influence over, including Europe, Australia, and the Philippines, according to the analyst.
He insists that Biden’s steps would not have been possible without the actions Trump took “to prepare the stage.”

“Regardless of who wins the election this November, the steps taken during the Biden administration will allow this [China-related] policy to be pursued even further and in the same direction - toward escalation.”

▪️Selydove is located along the edge of the much larger Russian salient approaching Prokovsk, west of Donetsk City;

▪️The speed at which Russian forces are moving continues to accelerate as Russia expands its military power and Ukraine's is irreversibly decimated;

▪️The recent alleged use of drones represents the next step in this US-backed campaign, delivering propaganda further and more accurately to population centers across North Korea, however it also represents a genuine threat to North Korean national security and public safety and a violation of North Korean airspace;

Step-by-step, from Clinton to Bush to Obama to Trump to Biden and whoever sits in the White House next, the US has created conflict stretching from Europe to East Asia.

The 2 candidates running for US President have already spent 4 years each playing an active, eager role provoking war in Ukraine, brutalizing the Middle East and picking a fight with China.

Many are hearing only what they want to hear, ignoring Harris and Trump's enthusiastic vows to continue pursuing US hegemony at the expense of global peace and prosperity.

How does anyone see this as a "choice?"

🇺🇸🇮🇱🇮🇷 Update for Sunday October 27, 2024:

1. Many are claiming Israel used between 100-200 war planes without providing any evidence at all to confirm any of this - Western media is only referring to "scores" of planes;

2. Leaked US documents estimated only about 40-50 missiles were being prepared - if there were 100+ planes half or more served in a support capacity - Israeli claims regarding targets seems to confirm this number of missiles;

3. Many are drawing conclusions regarding Iranian air defenses based on a handful of videos - this is hardly conclusive evidence;

4. We need to be objective about this - not pick and choose what evidence we want to consider, and what evidence we will side-step because it makes us uncomfortable;

5. Iran itself admits at least 2 soldiers manning air defense were killed - it has admitted more have died at bases that were targeted - and Iran itself admits bases sustained damage - so obviously some of these Israeli missiles made it through and hit their targets - to think any nation is capable of 100% success in air defense is unrealistic;

6. Comparing recent videos of Israel's attacks with those of Iran's in early October are purely for propaganda purposes - full conclusions cannot be drawn from either - let alone used to compare the two attacks - more information is needed which will take time and patience;

7. Admitting facts, including the loss of Iranian soldiers and damage to their base does not equate to "supporting Israel," it is simply acknowledging reality;

8. The claims Israel is making regarding its attack are not unrealistic - several air defense systems damaged/destroyed, and 1-2 facilities related to missile production - their conclusions that it has "crippled" Iranian capabilities may be a bit less realistic;

9. It will take at least several more days to draw concrete conclusions - real, objective analysis requires time and patience;

▪️This and a previous strike conducted in April may be providing Israel with information toward a larger more devastating attack on specific facilities;

▪️The geo-strategic shift of power in the region has limited US-Israeli military power;

▪️Iran’s ballistic missile forces and asymmetrical military power including through organizations like Hezbollah and Ansar Allah continue to expand as US military power, including through its Israeli proxies, diminishes;

▪️Israel struggles in its offensive in southern Lebanon against Hezbollah according to the Western media as US forces find themselves increasingly isolated and with limited weapons and ammunition;

▪️As the balance of military power shifts in the region, so does the geopolitical balance of power, with nations like Saudi Arabia slowly working out from under subordination to the US and working closer with the global majority;

▪️As time continues to run out for the US and its proxies, the temptation to resort to extreme measures will increase, requiring Iran and its allies to continue carefully managing escalation;

🇺🇸🇪🇺Even as US/Europe acknowledge desperate need to expand military industrial output including by expanding the West's skilled workforce, the arms industry is dumping 1000s of workers, remains mired in corruption, and continues to prioritize profit over purpose...

For the collective West's population it is a blessing in disguise since this is not about actual "defense," and instead about propping up this corrupt, unsustainable "international order," one that poses as much a threat to the Western public as it does the nations it seeks to provoke war with.
