𝐎𝐅𝐅𝐈𝐂𝐈𝐀𝐋: Chelsea have completed the signing of Jamie Gittens from @Borussia_Dortmund, on a contract until June 2032. 🤝
The 20-year-old arrives at Stamford Bridge having earned valuable experience in both the Bundesliga and UEFA Champions League, recording well over 100 appearances for the German side since making his debut. He has also been capped at Under-21 level for England.
🗣️ 𝐎𝐧 𝐣𝐨𝐢𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐬𝐞𝐚:

Gittens made the move to Germany from Manchester City in 2020 and quickly established himself as part of the first-team squad at Signal Iduna Park. He made his debut late in the 2021/22 season before having a breakout campaign the following term, netting his first senior goal in August of that year.
Gittens featured heavily across the Bundesliga, the Champions League and the DFB-Pokal, making 20 appearances and scoring three goals. The following season, he registered 10 goal contributions in 34 appearances across all competitions.
Gittens continued to impress for Dortmund during the 2024/25 campaign with 17 goal contributions across all competitions, before featuring for the German side in the FIFA Club World Cup.

“Chelsea FC has entered into a settlement agreement with UEFA concerning a break even deficit reported by the Club under UEFA’s Financial Sustainability Regulations covering the financial years 2022/2023 and 2023/2024.
“The Club has also agreed to pay a fine as a result of the Club’s squad cost ratio in the 2024 reporting year being between 80% and 90%.
“The club has worked closely and transparently with UEFA to provide a full and detailed breakdown of its financial reporting, which indicates that the financial performance of the Club is on a strong upwards trajectory.
“Chelsea FC greatly values its relationship with UEFA and considered it important to bring this matter to a swift conclusion by entering into a settlement agreement.”

STARTING XI:
Sanchez - 4 𝐔𝐏𝐃𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 - 5: First dangerous shot on goal and he has his positioning completely wrong.
Cucurella - 8.5: Didn’t invert today, but was an absolute rock at the back.
Chalobah - 7: Very solid defending and won all of his aerial duels.
Colwill - 7: Did very well at the back and like Chalobah also won all aerial duels. Advanced the ball very well.
Gusto - 7: Quite sloppy at times, but did produce the winning goal. Inverted role doesn’t suit him.
Santos - 7: Good first start. Tackling and duel ability is impressive.
Nkunku - 5.5: Wasn’t really involved and lacked will and passion.
Palmer - 8.5: Trademark goal from him and contributed well to the attack.
Neto - 7.5: Very difficult game for him, given Jota’s unfortunate passing. Crossing and dribbling was very sharp and was unlucky to not contribute to a goal.
Enzo - 7: Good game. Didn’t really stand out, but didn’t put a foot wrong too.
Delap - 5.5: Silly booking, going to miss the next game. Difference between him and Pedro was clear to see.

The defender has signed a contract with the Blues until 2027.
Having come through Preston North End’s academy, Best made his debut for the Championship club aged 17.
He went on to make a further 16 first-team appearances for the Lilywhites, and the 19-year-old also spent time on loan at League of Ireland Premier Division side Bohemians.
Best’s performances at Preston saw him called up by England Under-19s, and he scored and assisted on his debut as the Young Lions won the Marbella Cup in November 2023. He has featured seven times in total for the side.
