President Donald Trump announced that Boeing will build the next-generation fighter jet, the F-47, for the U.S. Air Force. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth joined him in the Oval Office for the announcement.

"I’m thrilled to announce that at my direction the United States Air Force is moving forward with the world’s first sixth-generation fighter jet… Nothing in the world comes even close to it, and it’ll be called the ‘F-47,’ the generals picked that title."

Trump said that Boeing was awarded the contract after a "rigorous and thorough competition between some of America’s top aerospace companies." The president also stated that an experiential version of the jet has apparently "secretly been flying" for nearly five years.

"The F-47 will be the most advanced, most capable, most lethal aircraft ever built," Trump told reporters. "America’s enemies will never see it coming," he later added.

Nimitz, which has been working up off the west coast, left Friday on its 22nd and final deployment. Ford began COMPTUEX on 14 March and will deploy after completion.

Dual carrier coverage in CENTCOM confirmed. Whether a 3rd arrives depends on: 1) how long Ford takes to complete training, 2) where Nimitz ends up, and 3) length of Truman and Vinson deployment extensions.

The Shin Bet has conducted a covert probe into the possible infiltration of extreme-right elements into the Israel Police following suspected political meddling in the force by the office of National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, who is in charge of the police, a report said Sunday.

The Shin Bet security agency initially seemed to confirm it was examining the concerns, but later issued a denial. Meanwhile, the far-right Ben Gvir called the development an “earthquake” that he said justified the government’s recent move to dismiss agency chief Ronen Bar.

🇺🇸 Patel plans major cutback to ATF by moving as many as 1,000 agents to FBI

FBI Director Kash Patel, who also serves as acting director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, has outlined plans to move as many as 1,000 ATF agents to the FBI, cutting ATF’s agents by more than a third, three people briefed on the plan told CNN.

The move represents a major cutback of the ATF, an agency that long has been in the crosshairs of gun rights groups that believe its work infringes on Second Amendment rights. The ATF has about 2,600 agents and more than 5,000 employees, a number that has remained largely unchanged for years.

The move is expected to begin with the reassignment of a couple hundred ATF agents to border-related criminal enforcement duty as FBI agents, one person briefed on the matter said.

China revealed for the first time that it has developed a compact deep-sea cable cutting device that is powerful enough to severe communication lines, the South China Morning Post reported.

The tool is able to operate at a depth of up to 4,000 meters (13,123 feet) and has been designed for use with the country’s advanced manned or unmanned submersible vehicles, the report said, citing a peer-reviewed paper published in the Chinese-language journal Mechanical Engineer on Feb. 24.

Developed by the China Ship Scientific Research Center and State Key Laboratory of Deep-Sea Manned Vehicles, the cutter revealed by China targets so-called “armored cables,” lines with steel, rubber and polymer sheaths that make up the overwhelming majority of global data transmissions, the SCMP added.

The US Coast Guard has 20 Cutters that can support JTF-SB.

The US Navy has an additional 5 Destroyers and 7 Littoral Combat Ships available at Naval Station Mayport that could support JTF-SB if called upon.

A crucial problem for U.S. shipbuilding is its increasingly long production. Most modern warship designs take much longer to build than their World War II counterparts; at the same time, U.S. industry has become less efficient, not more.

Like Japan in World War II, the United States seems to be driven by an assumption that superior weapons and training will compensate for its slower shipbuilding and allow its outnumbered fleet to quickly prevail in a war at sea with China. The Chinese navy, by contrast, resembles the U.S. fleet in the runup to Pearl Harbor: qualitatively less capable than its prospective opponent but with a far greater shipbuilding capacity that during a war could allow it to rapidly recover from early losses and, over time, overwhelm even a more skilled opponent whose production simply could not keep up.
