📝🇬🇧🇮🇪 - On Loyalists and Nationalists In Northern Ireland
Earlier this week, footage of an African migrant brutally stabbing a defenseless disabled white man on the streets of Belfast went viral on social media. Stephen Ogilvie, likely a Protestant judging from his Scottish surname, was saved from further harm when a group of Catholic Gaels intervened to beat the Sudanese predator with a Hurling stick.
The incident was followed by an avalanche of internet outrage as well as a brief spurt of rioting targeting foreigners in Loyalist Protestant enclaves, with reports of minor Irish Republican participation.
Upon hearing the news, British and American conservatives have responded rather sympathetically to the Loyalists. But rather than focusing on advancing a conversation about mass immigration — the Sudanese migrant was naturalized by the very British Conservatives claiming to oppose immigration — the Anglosphere right are using Irish nationalist lack of participation in the Protestant riots as an opportunity to try and discredit the Irish cause on the grounds that it prefers foreigners to natives out of “third worldism” (aka anti-Zionism).

My latest article: The riots in Belfast have revealed how strong anti-immigration sentiment is across the north of Ireland. But the difference in mobilisation between unionists and nationalists is striking.
How has Sinn Féin managed to neuter political nationalism in the North?

Munitions shown include GBU-31(V) precision guided munitions, GBU-38 precision guided munitions, AGM-58 Maverick missiles, Hydra 70 rockets, and 30 mm ammunition rounds. A particularly notable munition is the AGM-160 Miniature Air-Launched Decoy, designed to deceive and jam radars, and cause air defenses to waste munitions on useless targets. Confronting air defenses is not usually part of the A-10C's role.
Targets shown include two IRGC Navy fast attack crafts on one of the A-10Cs, and a pickup truck on a different A-10C.

🇺🇸🇮🇷⚡️ — U.S. military planners are preparing contingency plans for a possible operation to secure and remove Iran’s enriched uranium if a nuclear agreement is reached, CBS News reports.
The preliminary concept would involve Department of Energy specialists, supported by U.S. troops, Special Operations forces, and other agencies, locating, securing, and transporting Iran’s nuclear materials.Читать полностью…
One scenario under review includes positioning American forces across the Middle East to support a rapid deployment, potentially involving the Department of Energy’s Nuclear Emergency Support Team (NEST) and the Army’s 20th CBRNE Command.
U.S. officials emphasized that no mission has been approved and that the discussions remain part of routine contingency planning dependent on diplomatic and battlefield developments.

—❗️🇺🇸/🇮🇷 CNN, citing five sources familiar with U.S. intelligence:
Iran has started dispersing its highly enriched uranium stockpile, collapsing some tunnel entrances, and placing mines and booby-traps inside the underground facilities.
The moves are aimed at significantly complicating the process of accessing the materials.
This would make it much more time consuming for Iran to downblend the enriched material, should a deal with the U.S. be reached. It would also make any special operation to retrieve the material extremely dangerous and incredibly risky.

🇺🇸 - A recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) report indicates that F-35 Lightning II readiness rates have declined through fiscal 2025, with the full mission capable rate dropping to 25%. The mission capable rate fell from 67% in fiscal 2021 to 44% in fiscal 2025, while the full mission capable rate decreased from 38% to 25%.
➡️ The GAO noted that software delays, parts shortages, and corrosion issues contributed to this decline, labeling the F-35 as "DOD's most costly weapon system" that "hasn't met performance goals" amid rising sustainment costs.
➡️ The F-35 Joint Program Office's response is the Global Support Solution (GSS) Reset, launched in June 2025, which targets an 80% mission-capable rate and 65% full mission-capable rate by 2030. However, achieving this will cost an estimated $13.7 billion more than previously planned through fiscal 2031.
➡️ GAO cautioned that readiness may decline further before improvement, with significant progress unlikely until late 2026. Key risks include heavy reliance on the private sector for over $7 billion in parts and ongoing capacity challenges for critical components.

🛢 The tanks in Cushing, Oklahoma, are hitting bottom. The oil market is about to hit a tipping point
Cushing, Oklahoma, dubs itself the pipeline crossroads of the world. The tagline is emblazoned on a giant roadside sign fashioned out of pipes on the corner of Main Street and South Stiles Road. It has a valve and everything.
Cushing is the hub of America’s energy market. It literally provides the oil plumbing for the United States. It’s where America’s benchmark West Texas Intermediate oil is priced and warehoused. From there, it’s piped to refineries around the country.
In normal times, Cushing stores around 40 million barrels of oil with capacity of up to 75 million.
These are not normal times.
Cushing’s current inventory is 21.6 million barrels, according to the US Energy Information Administration.
That’s dangerously close to operational stress levels, the tipping point at which Cushing struggles to supply all of its customers with the oil they demand.
When Cushing’s reserves get below 20 million, they effectively hit empty, scraping the bottom of the barrel of what is largely unusable sludge.
And when Cushing runs empty, strange things happen to the oil market.
Unless the Strait of Hormuz opens soon – very soon – we’re probably just weeks away from finding out what that looks like.
📝 HFI Research: Since 2011, Cushing increased working capacity by 25 million bbls, which means the inventory level from 1990-2011 is no longer relevant because the floor for tank bottom increases.
As a result, my estimate for Cushing tank bottom is ~18 million bbls.

🇺🇸 Inside the White House Freakout Over the Epstein Files
The president’s top advisers gathered in a series of Situation Room meetings as they struggled to contain a scandal engulfing Donald Trump himself.
On July 17, 2025, at around 6 o’clock in the evening, President Trump’s top officials filed into the White House Situation Room — the secure bunker where classified and high-stakes national security matters are discussed and decided. This was where President Barack Obama, along with Vice President Joe Biden, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and the president’s national security team, watched the raid that ended with the death of Osama bin Laden in 2011.
Now, however, Trump’s most senior advisers had gathered — without him — to figure out how to gain some measure of control over a very different kind of crisis threatening to engulf the presidency: the Epstein files.
Ten days earlier, the Justice Department and the F.B.I. had jointly released a memo that bluntly stated that their review had found no “client list” of powerful men for whom the notorious pedophile Jeffrey Epstein had allegedly procured underage girls and young women. Intended to put to rest years of speculation and end the pressure campaign to release the voluminous material in the department’s possession, the memo instead had the opposite effect, setting off a backlash that was notably loud among the MAGA base.
As the president’s former defense attorney, Todd Blanche had a unique vantage point in the discussion. He was better equipped than anyone else in the room to weigh the ideas being discussed against Trump’s personal and political interests. Blanche laid out what he saw as their best options.
Option 1 was to petition Federal District Courts in Florida and New York to unseal the grand jury testimonies — the secret transcripts of prosecutors’ presentations of witnesses and evidence in their efforts to obtain indictments in past Epstein-related cases. As those were almost certain to contain no significant new information, everyone agreed that this option was a good idea, and not only because a release was unlikely to damage the president.
Option 2 was to have Justice Department lawyers question Maxwell and publicly release the transcript — a twist on the idea proposed earlier by Vance. Blanche offered to interview Maxwell himself.
Warrington, the White House counsel, responded by laying out the available choices, without advocating any of them. Maxwell could be given a pardon, he said, or she could have her sentence reduced.
The consensus was that calling for the release of the grand jury material was the best course of action. Wiles told the group she would discuss the matter with Trump and ask if he would send a Truth Social post calling for the release of the sealed grand jury documents.
