🇬🇧🇫🇷🤝🇴🇲 Oman signed an agreement with France and the UK giving free passage to French and British ships through its territorial waters

Oman has agreed to work with the U.K. and France to ensure the Gulf country's territorial waters are safe for navigation, the U.K. said on Saturday, as oil shipments through the Strait of Hormuz pick up since the U.S. and Iran signed an agreement last month to reopen the crucial sea lane.

"The U.K. and France also stand ready to deploy the wider Multinational Military Mission to support freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz," U.K. Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a joint statement with French President Emmanuel Macron.

"The Strait of Hormuz is a vital artery for the global economy. Restoring safe transit for ships of all nations through the Strait is a matter of global concern," the statement read.

However, with Iran's missile and drone program intact, this agreement will fall apart if and when Iran decides that the Strait of Hormuz is to be closed as Oman has no abilities to actually protect the ships using its waters to pass through the Strait and nor does Oman want to antagonise Tehran.

🇪🇸📝 Spanish Anon: There is a lot of focus on Spain legalising 1.3 million undocumented migrants, even though it’s only a small part of the story.

The current government also expanded eligibility for Spanish nationality to descendants of those exiled during the Civil War and the Franco era. There were about 2.4 million applications under this program. On top of the roughly 1.17 million applications under the recent regularization of ilegal immigrants, and the high levels of legal immigration that the government has facilitated, this will further increase the foreign born population, which has already grown by around 4 million people since they came to power.

And they intend to stay in power. They have invested millions in expanding their party infrastructure all around the world to mobilize those foreigners to vote. Millions who have never set foot on the Iberian Peninsula could vote in the next election.

The left-wing government is supported by Catalan and Basque nationalist parties, but the center-right has also supported these measures, despite occasionally calling for “responsibility” to fool low-info voters. They are old and watch TV, so they won’t remember. And old people are the only ones who have seen their income increase in the last 20 years anyway, so why would they care. These policies also benefit low-value industries such as tourism, agriculture, caretaking , and the real estate sector by expanding demand, so there are many people who support this.

There is also an ideological component, reflected in Spain’s preferential nationality rules, under which citizens of all former Spanish and Portuguese colonies gain nationality after just 2 years of residency (yes, even Philippines and Angola). Complete nostalgic insanity.

I have little hope that a center-right government would reverse these policies, and even if it tried, such a government would likely be short-lived because Spain is, sociologically speaking, a predominantly left-wing country that quickly turns against any mildly conservative policy.

Countries like Spain are the reason why the idea of a politically unified Europe is so dumb. Europe cannot be politically united with countries whose national projects are not European

The far left is poised to take over the Democratic Party if it isn't stopped.

The organization’s ideas are electoral poison. Defund the Defense Department. Abolish “the carceral forces of the capitalist state.” Eliminate the presidency, the Senate and the Supreme Court as they currently exist. Draft a new Constitution. These are not caricatures invented by the MAGA right; these are the policies DSA leadership laid out in its new platform, according to City Journal. It will reportedly debut at the DSA’s “Socialists Summit” later this month.

Far-left governance has also been a failure. The DSA claims it is the answer to legitimate rage about a broken status quo. But the policies it supports make matters worse. When activists took over San Francisco in 2020, the city drifted into rampant shoplifting, retail flight and a collapse of basic public order. Furious residents booted the district attorney and elected a more moderate mayor. Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson, who is backed by the city council’s democratic socialists, has a favorability rating of only 34 percent.

Taking on the DSA has a proud precedent. In 1947, liberal leaders including Eleanor Roosevelt, Hubert Humphrey and Walter Reuther founded Americans for Democratic Action because they refused to let the communist-aligned left speak for American liberalism. They drew a bright line, condemned those who would not renounce the radical project and the next year helped Harry S. Truman crush Henry Wallace’s fellow-traveling third-party challenge. They understood that liberalism’s survival required a center willing to stand up to the left. That clarity led to the coalition that passed the Civil Rights Act, Medicaid and the rest of the Great Society.

Now is the moment to fight the DSA. Mainstream Democrats must emphasize that they are not a radical, socialist party and will not become one. And they must back that sentiment with money, organization and spine.

Last year’s defeat of the Antisemitism Awareness Act (AAA) by a coalition of progressive Democrats and patriotic Republicans caught the Jewish community off guard.

According to a report by Jewish Insider, Chuck Schumer and his Republican collaborator’s attempt to sneak the AAA into the 2025 National Defense Authorization Act was thwarted when a coalition of nationalist podcasters such as Tucker Carlson and various Palestine sympathetic left-wing groups called attention to its draconian provisions and drew backlash to the bill.

Rather than give up, Jewish groups reeling from the defeat have decided to launch a renewed offensive, this time attacking opposition to their Zionist agenda at its root: freedom of speech, especially on social media.

The overwhelming majority of visible traffic instead utilized the Iranian (northern) traffic separation scheme.

Notably, two groups of vessels initially attempted to use the southern route. One group reversed course before completing the transit, while a second group abandoned the Omani corridor and crossed into the Iranian traffic separation scheme.

40% of the 1.2 million undocumented migrants in Spain who signed up for the "regularization" process offered by Madrid reside in Catalonia (460k migrants) and half of those live in the province of Barcelona.

By province, the requests were made mainly in Barcelona (192,195), followed by Tarragona (27,214), Girona (22,701) and Lleida (15,492). For now, the Spanish government has not provided data by counties or municipalities.

In the Valencian Country, the requests have been 167,286 and 36,443 appointments were assigned. By demarcations, the data of applications in Valencia and Alicante are quite similar: 74,951 and 73,245. In Castellón, on the other hand, the figure is much lower (19,090).

The European Parliament will vote in Strasbourg to activate a verification mechanism that could deregister the Alternative for Germany-led Europe of Sovereign Nations party and strip it of EU funding over alleged core value violations.

The European Parliament is poised to launch a formal procedure against the Europe of Sovereign Nations alliance, the political party housing the Alternative for Germany and other regional far-right groups.

A finding that the alliance failed to maintain the core tenets of the European Union would result in the loss of its official registration and the termination of its access to the EU budget.

More than 180 legislators have signed a petition to activate the verification process, which directs the Authority for European Political Parties and Foundations to investigate compliance.

A vote scheduled for Tuesday in Strasbourg requires parliamentary confirmation to proceed.

European Parliament officials indicate that the European People’s Party, Socialists and Democrats, and Renew Europe intend to back the motion, ensuring the request secures approval.

Established in August 2024 by eight national factions, the party is led by Alternative for Germany and includes Poland’s Confederation and France's Reconquête among its members.

The party exists as a distinct legal entity from the similarly named political group inside the European Parliament, which currently controls 27 seats.

EU rules dictate that while parties receive direct budgetary funding as alliances, individual lawmakers and parliamentary groups will face no legal consequences if the party status is revoked.

🇫🇷 French aircraft carrier who sat in an Omani port for the entire duration of the 3rd Gulf War is called back home

French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle will return to its home port after a nearly two-month deployment near the Strait of Hormuz as an interim peace deal between the US and Iran eases tensions in the key waterway.

European leaders have pledged naval assets to support the reopening of the strait after the war, with France and the UK leading a group of more than 40 nations that have committed kit and personnel. Commercial shipping through Hormuz has picked up after the US and Iran reached a ceasefire deal last month, easing a global energy crunch.

France had stationed its only aircraft carrier along the coast of the Arabian Peninsula since mid-May. If necessary, it could have been deployed to the Strait of Hormuz within two or three days. It has also deployed other assets, including two minehunter vessels, to the area.
