🇺🇸🚨📰 After 2 days of clashes over immigration raids, National Guard will be sent to L.A., official says

A Trump administration official said National Guard troops would be sent into Los Angeles after a second day in which protesters confronted immigration agents during raids of local businesses.

Around 4 p.m. Saturday, a crowd gathered in Paramount in a chaotic clash with federal agents were ordered to disperse. An unlawful assembly was declared, and officials warned protesters in Spanish and English to quit the scene immediately. The confrontation near a Home Depot at 6400 Alondra Blvd. had escalated over the course of the day into a fiery and tumultuous clash, even as federal officials warned of further immigration raids coming to Los Angeles. During the Paramount protest, at least one protester was injured, witnesses reported.

Meanwhile, Tom Homan, the Trump administration’s “border czar,” warned the National Guard could be deployed to the city. Homan, the president’s former acting U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement director, said in a Fox News interview that officials were cracking down hard on the unrest, saying the troops would be deployed in the city Saturday night.

While the pilgrimage saw a record turnout of around 18,000 participants in 2024 (up from 16,000 in 2023), this year’s registration filled up in just five days, with over 19,000 pilgrims signing up, a “record level of participation,” according to organizers.

The average age of pilgrims this year is 20 years old, according to the latest numbers.

Wagner Group has announced its departure from Mali after a 3.5 year deployment. In a statement, it has said:

“members fought shoulder to shoulder with the people of Mali against terrorism. We destroyed thousands of militants and their commanders who had been terrorizing the civilian population for years. We helped local patriots create a strong and disciplined army capable of defending their land. And we accomplished the main task - all regional capitals returned under the control of the legitimate authorities.

Important to note that Russian forces will still be playing an active role in Mali’s security landscape via the Africa Corps, which has been slowly replacing Wagner.

The Trump administration is preparing to cancel a large swath of federal funding for California, an effort that could begin as soon as Friday, according to multiple sources.

Agencies are being told to start identifying grants the administration can withhold from California. Sources said the administration is specifically considering a full termination of federal grant funding for the University of California and California State University systems.

“No taxpayer should be forced to fund the demise of our country,” White House spokesman Kush Desai said in a statement Friday afternoon, criticizing California for its energy, immigration and other policies. “No final decisions, however, on any potential future action by the Administration have been made, and any discussion suggesting otherwise should be considered pure speculation.”
