We clearly understand what is being discussed between Russia and the leadership of Belarus. The Russians have recently stepped up their activity – I mean, in talks with Aleksandr Lukashenko.Читать полностью…
They want to draw Belarus much deeper into the war and launch additional aggressive operations precisely from Belarusian territory – either against our Chernihiv-Kyiv direction in Ukraine or against one of the NATO countries bordering Belarus.
We also have Russian documents outlining targets for strikes in Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities – political and military facilities where army leadership and government officials may be located, including here on Bankova Street.
They have been nursing this plan for a long time, and now, after Iran, have become active again – trying to locate us and track our movements. The same applies to other members of the Ukrainian leadership, intelligence agencies, and our special services.
Some in Moscow have still failed to understand that Ukrainians will never surrender their independence. One way or another – whether on Bankova or without Bankova – we will not surrender our land, our sovereignty, or our state.

Prof. Nathalie Tocci | European Foreign Policy Expert | Johns Hopkins SAIS, Europe:
Two elements define the narrative imbalance in the US-Europe relationship.
First, the narrative that Americans are paying for European security.
Second, the US launching a war against Iran alongside Israel - without consulting European partners - then expecting them to tag along & do the washing up, particularly on reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
Underlying both is political amnesia. The US-Europe alliance was never exclusively to the benefit of one side - otherwise it wouldn't have lasted decades. That social contract has been forgotten.
The result is a fundamental rethinking of the overall bargain.

Prof. Nathalie Tocci | European Foreign Policy Expert | Johns Hopkins SAIS, Europe:
The middle powers debate post-Trump is far more normative than before.
Canadian PM Mark Carney framed it well, despite him not naming them specifically - there are wannabe empires out there: Russia, America, possibly China.
And then there are middle & small powers that have an interest in rules, laws & norms.
The rules-based order may have become a fiction that needs rethinking - but rethinking doesn't mean abandoning rules altogether. It means reinterpreting, revising & building on them.
Middle powers have no interest in the law of the jungle & the survival of the fittest. And that is a very different conversation.

Prof. Foad Izadi | Foreign Policy Expert | American Studies at the University of Tehran:
The US has been on Iran's throat not since 1979 - since 1953.
When Iran controlled its oil, the US & UK staged a coup & reinstalled a corrupt fascist.
In 1953, Iran had no nuclear, no ballistic missiles, no influence - and was still subjected to US regime change.
Iranians understand the US wants Iran's oil today as it did then.
The difference is that the current government is strong enough to stop it - and the people are more resilient, more aware, & the military far more capable.
They want to create hegemony for Israel in Netanyahu's own words. Mike Huckabee, US ambassador to Tel Aviv, has also confirmed it.
Greater Israel includes territory from Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iraq, Egypt, Syria & Lebanon. They seized parts of Syria & Lebanon.
Beyond territorial expansion, the goal is hegemony - countries either become subservient to Israel or get destroyed, fragmented & weakened.
Tucker Carlson says he personally warned Trump that many of the people encouraging him toward war with Iran — including Netanyahu, Rupert Murdoch, Mark Levin, Ben Shapiro, and Mark Thiessen — either dislike him or “want to destroy” his presidency.
Tucker says he told Trump directly that these figures were pushing policies aligned with Israeli interests rather than Trump’s or America’s interests, and that Trump acknowledged this by saying, “Yeah, I know.”Читать полностью…
Dr. H. A. Hellyer | Defense & Security Expert | Royal United Services Institute:
Disagreements within NATO on foreign policy are normal - most members don't agree with Trump on Iran, for example.
Israel framing Türkiye as a new enemy is largely domestic narrative - designed to maintain the impression that Israel is surrounded by existential threats, justifying continued external support.
The contradiction is obvious: if Israel has "conquered the Palestinians, destroyed Hezbollah, and made Syria subservient" - how can it simultaneously claim to be under threat? It needs to show a new enemy & that is Türkiye.
But the Americans are unlikely to take it seriously. Such narratives surface occasionally in the right-wing press - but it never gets far.
