For those stressing over the names being floated for Trump's administration, such as Mike Pompeo or Mike Rogers, consider a couple of things:
- Although most libs and neocons are still dazed and hungover from the election, some are already strategizing on how to hinder the new administration's efforts. For example, Bill Kristol, one of Trump's staunchest neocon enemies, is calling for opposing and obstucting as many picks as possible not only after inauguration but now during the transition.
- Trump has a history of playing and feigning he is considering some establishment candidates, like in the above pic where he humiliated Romney, making it look like he was actually a candidate for a position in Trump's administration.
- Likewise, although they want to deescalate from Ukraine and Israel, it is in their interest to make it look like they are ready to nuke Iran, Russia or China. Selecting a dove outright would only embolden these players, instead of coming wary and uncertain to the negotiating table.
- By putting out some of these names and going through the motions, Trump's team may thwart any early offense from their enemies at home and be better positioned to deal with enemies at the negotiating table abroad.
