UAE to waive fines for late corporate tax registration
The Federal Tax Authority on Wednesday, May 7, announced that it has begun implementing the UAE Cabinet Decision to exempt certain corporate taxpayers from administrative penalties resulting from the late submission of registration applications, within the specified deadline.
To qualify for the waiver of the penalty, the taxable person (or exempted categories) must submit their Tax Return (or Annual Declaration) within a period not exceeding seven (7) months from the end of their first Tax Period (or first Financial Year), instead of nine months.

Passengers flying through the Al Maktoum International (DWC) airport will be able to clear immigration in just seconds through a smart corridor. In the time it takes one person to get through the Dubai Airport (DXB) immigration smart gates, 10 travellers will be able to pass through the corridor.
Speaking at The Airport Show in Dubai on Tuesday, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Al Marri, Director General of the emirate's General Directorate of Identity and Foreign Affairs (GDRFA), noted how seamless travelling will be.

UAE: At least 13 Pakistan flights cancelled after India launches airstrikes
A number of flights between Pakistan and the UAE were cancelled early Wednesday morning, with some facing major delays, as tensions between India and Pakistan escalated overnight following airstrikes.
In a statement sent to Khaleej Times, Dubai-based flydubai spokesperson said βflights to Pakistan on May 7 have been suspended and some of our flights have been diverted due to the closure of the Pakistan airspace except Jinnah International Airport, Karachi (KHI) that is still operating.

Milky Way now visible to UAE residents for 5 months as summer begins
The Milky Way is visible in the UAE sky from May to October, with its core reaching its highest and clearest point during July and August.
According to Ahmed Hassan, Technical Director and Astrophotographer at Dubai Astronomy Group, the best location to view the Milky Way is Al Qua'a in Abu Dhabi. It is the closest dark-sky site to most cities in the country βAfter leaving the paved road, a compact dirt path leads to an open area suitable for observation," he said. He also recommended parking beside the path and walking a short distance into the sand to avoid car lights and dust.

Now at Gulf Craft, Caswell, who plays a key role in building a new shipyard in Ajman, says that if she isnβt at the factory where theyβre building yachts, sheβs off for fishing or busy with sailing races. And with a gleam in her eye, she reveals another plan: βIβm sailing the Southern Ocean at the end of the year. Itβs something Iβve always wanted to do before I turn 50.β The journey will begin in Uruguay, then head toward South Africa, and finally Europe.

Sharjah Ruler approves extended leave for mothers of newborns with medical needs
A new type of leave, called 'care leave', has been approved for female employees in the Sharjah government. The extended leave is for mothers who give birth to a sick or disabled child requiring continuous care. Abdullah Ibrahim Al Zaabi, Chairman of the Sharjah Human Resources Department, announced on the Direct Line radio programme. The leave, which begins after the completion of maternity leave, may be extended annually for up to three years.
Under the new regulation, the leave is granted based on the submission of a medical report approved by a competent medical authority. It initially runs concurrently with the one-year paid maternity leave and may be extended annually, for up to three years, with official approval and continued medical justification.
