"I stopped to do" vs "I stopped doing"
Just one word changes the whole meaning!
• Stop to do something = Stop one activity in order to do something else.
→ I stopped to drink some water. (I was doing something else, then I paused to drink.)
• Stop doing something = Quit an activity completely.
→ I stopped drinking coffee. (I don't drink coffee anymore.)

Stop + to + verb → Pause to do something.
