FC Internazionale Milano v FC Bayern Munchen - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Quarter Final Second Leg Photo by Domenico Cippitelli/NurPhoto via Getty Images Generally, unseating a legendary goalkeeper can be very difficult. Clearly, Daniel Peretz has no immediate future at Bayern Munich. Legendary goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has signed a new contract until 2026, new signing Jonas Urbig has clearly usurped him in the pecking order and veteran Sven Ulreich may still be preferred to Israeli international. So he will need to move on.An attractive option for Peretz may be Eintracht Frankfurt, whose young goalkeeper Kauã Santos has suffered a long term injury and who seem set to offer Champion League football next season. However, there is one issue with this move, via Sport.de (as captured by @iMiaSanMia):Eintracht Frankfurt would like to sign Daniel Peretz following the injury to Kauã Santos, but Peretz is unsure of the move due to the competition with Kevin Trapp that could see him end up on the bench. Talks are ongoing between Frankfurt and the player’s camp. Eintracht have yet to approach Bayern.Trapp, who will turn 35 in the summer, has now spent over a decade at Eintracht Frankfurt, is a veritable legend of the club, is captain of the team and has a contract until 2026. How likely is it that Peretz can usurp Trapp’s throne? That is the question Peretz needs to-and likely is- ask himself as negotiations with Eintracht continue.

FC St. Pauli 1910 v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Bundesliga Photo by Stuart Franklin/Getty Images Will Bayern Munich get the transfer deal completed this summer? According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), reports of Bayern Munich and Florian Wirtz reaching an agreement on personal terms are “premature”: There’s [still] no agreement between Bayern and Florian Wirtz. Bayern are determined to sign him and talks with the player’s camp are ongoing, but reports of an agreement are premature.Bayer Leverkusen was the first to refute the initial report from Foot Mercato journalist Santi Auona, but since that point, several outlets (including Sky Sport) have said that nothing is finalized. What does it all mean? Well, the framework of an agreement could be in place. Essentially, when Jamal Musiala inked his new deal with Bayern Munich, the Wirtz contract wrote itself. It would be hard to think that after numerous conversations, there is not — at least — a handshake agreement on what the financial details would look like for a move. If we had to guess, we would think that Bayern Munich and Wirtz’s camp are close (while not in full agreement) on the numbers for a pay structure (salary + bonus). The complicated part of this transfer will be dealing with Bayer Leverkusen, due to the strained relationship between the two clubs. 1. FC Heidenheim 1846 v FC Bayern München - Bundesliga Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images Moves are happening for Bayern Munich... On Wednesday, Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (via @iMiaSanMia) reported that Red Bull Salzburg was “very interested” in Bayern Munich left-back Frans Krätzig, who is currently on loan with Heidenheim: RB Salzburg are very interested in signing Frans Krätzig. It’s about a potential permanent deal with a buy-back clause. Talks have already taken place. Now, Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg is reporting that a full verbal agreement is in place between Krätzig and Salzburg and also that Bayern Munich is almost settled in with a fee as well: ⏳ Excl | Frans #Krätzig is on the verge of a move to RB Salzburg! A full verbal agreement between RB and the player is in place. FC Bayern are also largely in agreement with Salzburg. It will be a permanent transfer. The fee is around €3.5 million. While the fee is not a game-changer, it was clear that Krätzig did not have a future in Bavaria and a sale would be best for everyone involved. FC Barcelona Training Day In Barcelona Photo By Javier Borrego/Europa Press via Getty Images How far can the former Bayern Munich coach go in this year’s Champions League — and his career? Former Bayern Munich coach Hansi Flick has resurrected his career in a big way after a tough stint with the German men’s national team. The current FC Barcelona head coach is at the helm for a two-legged Champions League semifinals bout against Inter Milan. Yes, it is too early to look ahead to the Final (especially after the teams battled to a 3-3 draw on Wednesday) — which this year will be held in none other than the Allianz Arena in Munich — but we’re going to do it anyway.Because this: Hansi Flick has never lost a final as a coach

Will he make it 7 for 7 tonight in the #ElClasico #CopaDelRey final?

FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images Bayern Munich will lose a valuable defender after the season... Why talks with Dier fell through (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk via @iMiaSanMia)When the news broke that Eric Dier was going to leave Bayern Munich in favor of AS Monaco after the season, fans wondered how talks might have fallen apart after it had looked like the Englishman would get at least one more season in Bavaria.Per Sport Bild’s Christian Falk, Bayern Munich would have liked to keep Dier on a one-year contract, but AS Monaco’s offer was simply better: Bayern made an offer of a new contract for Eric Dier, but the Englishman decided on Monaco. He would have only received a year-long contract extension (until 2026) in Munich. The offer from Monaco is until 2027 (+1). Dier also expects more playing time with Adi Hütter’s side. That said, he regrets the fact that he will have to leave behind his friend Harry Kane. German outlet kicker journalist Mario Krischel backed up Falk’s reporting (via @iMiaSanMia): Monaco offered Eric Dier a longer contract than Bayern (at least two years), a higher salary and the prospect of more playing time, that’s why he decided to leave.Dier has been an extremely valuable player for Bayern Munich and was the crown jewel of Christoph Freund’s one transfer window of being in charge (January 2024). Dier is replaceable on the roster, but his combination of performance, leadership, and being a good locker room guy will be tough voids to fill. The Bavarians could look for an established player to complement its center-back group for next season (Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, and maybe Josip Stanišić) or rely on a youngster like oft-injured Tarek Buchmann. Decisions...decisions...Barca eyeing Álvarez as Lewy successor? (ESPN)FC Barcelona could be looking at Atlético Madrid attacker Julián Álvarez as its eventual successor to former Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski: Julián Álvarez could become a pawn in Barcelona’s next presidential elections, Marca reports, as a potential big-name signing and successor to Robert Lewandowski. Alvarez, 25, has starred in LaLiga since joining Atlético Madrid from Manchester City last summer, with 27 goals in all competitions. Now, according to Marca, the Argentina international’s name has come up as a possible card for candidates to play in Barça’s 2026 elections, although it’s not yet clear who will challenge incumbent Joan Laporta, and Atlético would be reluctant to part with their star forward.Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: RB Leipzig vs. Bayern Munich (Bavarian Football Works) Bayern Munich will travel to East Germany to face off with a very desperate RB Leipzig, who is clawing to its hopes for European football next season. Meanwhile, the Bavarians are seeking to clinch a league title in the house that energy drinks built (figuratively, of course). Let’s take a look at what we have on tap for this edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works — Preview Show: A look at where each team is in the table and also a look back at the first match.A look at the injury and suspension situations for both teams. Why Bayern Munich fans should watch this game — get a closer look at Benjamin Šeško and Xavi Simons. A guess at Bayern Munich’s starting XI.A prediction on the match.Bayern probably won’t pursue Simons (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk via @iMiaSanMia)After being linked to RB Leipzig attacker Xavi Simons for almost two years, Bayern Munich might have lost its desire to have the 22-year-old Dutchman on the roster: Last summer, Max Eberl and Vincent Kompany had concrete talks with Xavi Simons. He will be on the market this summer, but Bayern are not in a position where they want to make a bid for him. Simons is no longer part of the plan.Simons has not exactly dominated this season, but it has been a solid campaign for him. Simons has 10 goals and six assists in 30 games across all competitions so far this season, but RB Leipzig has had a very disappointing campaign…

FC Bayern Munich Portraits - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Photo by Simon Hofmann - UEFA/UEFA via Getty Images A new format and building familiarity before the FIFA world cup are major motivating factors says Kane. Bayern Munich and England striker Harry Kane is pumped for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. The month long tournament will be taking place in the USA from mid June to mid July. Yes, the fixture loaded tournament will be taking place in the break season. It however does bring its benefits, namely, to build familiarity with the conditions and crowds for the international World Cup set to happen in 2026.Who doesn’t love more football? Striker Harry Kane shares the excitement of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup. A World cup style tournament but for clubs from all over the world is as global as club football can get. The revamp of the format has lent more appeal to the CWC per Harry Kane. Also, there is the factor that the actual 2026 FIFA World Cup( in which the countries play) will take place in USA. The CWC offers a great opportunity to be at the venues around the same time of the year to familiarize oneself with the conditions and spark a connection with the local fans. Aerial Views of Miami Ahead of FIFA 2026 World Cup Photo by Cliff Hawkins - FIFA/FIFA via Getty Images Bayern Munich vs Boca Juniors is one of the biggest group matches that will take place at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami In an interview with Goal , Harry Kane was asked to give his views on the CWC, the prospect of playing in the new format and in the USA. He said “ I think it’s going to be great. The Club World Cup is going to be unique, playing this type of major tournament with your club is different to what’s been done in the past, but I think it’s going to be a good experience. Going out to the U.S., as well, a year before the World Cup itself will be a great chance to get to know some of the stadiums and get to know the fans out there. I’m very much looking forward to it.”While it is great to have more football, the welfare of the players is not to be taken lightly. The strain from the already heavy load of fixtures during the season warrants a sufficient rest period. However, the interest of expanding the sport globally and the money coming from it, continues to push the interest of the players to the back seat.

FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images/DeFodi via Getty Images Boey could be on his way out of Munich this summer and he could wind up back in France, where he had tenures with Dijon and Stade Rennes. Sacha Boey’s time at Bayern Munich has been complicated. He was a player purchased in a winter transfer window (January 2024) when Thomas Tuchel was still manager of the club, having been brought in from Galatasaray during a period when Bayern had a laundry list of injuries to their first team. At the time, the Bundesliga title race with Bayer Leverkusen has not been mathematically ruled out and Bayern was still in the Champions League race, where they ultimately made it to the semi-finals.Nonetheless, Boey has never been a first choice right back at Bayern for either Tuchel or Vincent Kompany, and he has perhaps even played less under Kompany than he might’ve had Tuchel stayed at Bayern for a longer period. Since making the move from Galatasaray, Boey has made a total of 17 appearance for the German Rekordmeister, having missed most of the beginning phases of this season due to a meniscus injury.Per information from Belgian football journalist Sacha Tavolieri (via @iMiaSanMia), Boey is very much open to leaving Bayern this summer and moving back to France, where he played earlier in his career. He had tenures at both Stade Rennes and Dijon before going to Turkey to play for Galatasaray. FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - DFB Cup: Round of 16 Photo by Marco Steinbrenner/DeFodi Images via Getty Images While there are not currently any concrete offers for Boey from Ligue 1 clubs, his profile has been presented to all of Olympique Lyon, Marseille, and OGC Nice. While Bayern’s preference would be a permanent sale of the defender during this summer’s transfer window, that could be a problem due to financial hardships clubs in France are navigating through as a result of television rights problems in the country. Because of that, there is also a possibility that interested French clubs would opt for a loan deal with an option to buy to be able to afford Boey. He is currently valuated at 18 million euros via Transfermarkt, which is slightly lower than the 30 million fee Bayern paid to get him from Galatasaray. Either way, Bayern would more than likely be taking a bit of a financial hit if and when they offload Boey to a French club considering how much they paid for him last year. FC Bayern München v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - UEFA Champions League 2024/25 Round of 16 First Leg Photo by Alexander Hassenstein/Getty Images Will the job sharing in goal work this time? Very few people expected Jonas Urbig to get any significant game time at Bayern Munich this season. But, with Manuel Neuer injuring himself while celebrating a goal, Jonas Urbig was thrust into action during the business end of the season, forced to compete in a Champions League quarterfinal against Inter Milan and, at the time of writing, play 11 games for Die Rekordmeister. If Bayern get their way, however, that might be about the same amount of games the former FC Köln goalkeeper will get next season... if you believe a report from Bild’s Tobi Altschäffl, via @iMiaSanMia:Jonas Urbig is expected to get 10-15 games next season even if Manuel Neuer stays fit the entire season. The captain will take breaks during phases where there are many games. Bayern bosses believe that Urbig will have a big future.Bayern tried to get Neuer to share his gametime before when Alexander Nübel first joined the club in 2021. The VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper did not fare well and is set to be banished to his 5th loan year in a row. Urbig will hope his big future will be less uncertain that Nübel’s has ended up being.

FC Bayern München v 1. FSV Mainz 05 - Bundesliga Photo by Christina Pahnke - sampics/Getty Images Bayern Munich better prepare a video set to the 90210 theme is this happens… According to a report from Sport Bild journalists Christian Falk and Tobi Altschäffl (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is really working hard to convince Thomas Müller to make the move to LAFC:Jochen Sauer, Campus director and head of Red&Gold Football, the joint venture between FC Bayern and Los Angeles FC, is driving forward Thomas Müller’s move to LAFC. Sauer made a big presentation about the club to the player in order to convince him to move there. Müller would even get a house in Beverly Hills to live in as part of the deal. For FC Bayern, having Müller there would be a big advertisement for the club in the US.A house…in Beverly Hills? You don’t say. Maybe he needs some theme music (sing it to the tune of this classic jam):Come and listen to a story about a man named Thomas,.Famous footballer who’s havin’ problems with his boss. And then one day he was workin’ for his loot,And he realized his bosses were givin’ him the boot. No contract that is…fired…sacked from his gig.Well the first thing you know ol’ Tommy needs a job,Football club said “Tommy hand in your key fob”They said “Californy is the place you ought to be”So Tommy loaded up his horses and moved to Beverly…Hills, that is. Swimmin’ pools, movie stars.(Instrumental)Well now it’s time to say goodbye to Tommy and all his kin.And they would like to thank you folks fer always supportin’ him. You’re all invited back next season to this localityTo have a heapin helpin’ of LAFCLA Football Club that is. Grab a stein, load up on sunscreen. Y’all come back now, y’hear? Are you feeling Müller in MLS yet? Eh…neither are we…but we’ll always have that Beverly Hillbillies parody.Anyway, Müller should feel no obligation to appease his soon-to-be ex-bosses on this one and it does feel like everyone might be overthinking exactly how much of a box office impact Müller might be at this stage of his career. Sure, there will be some hardcore Bayern Munich fans in the area who would love it, but it is the United States after all, and it would be a gamble to think Müller will move the needle much at the age of 35...in Los Angeles...where the Dodgers and Lakers already rule the roost.Whatever he does, hopefully Müller ends up happy with his decision. FC Bayern München v Borussia Dortmund - Bundesliga Photo by Stefan Matzke - sampics/Getty Images Is the magic back? One of the topics that made the rounds over the years, as Bayern Munich closed in on and then surpassed 10 straight Bundesliga titles, is whether the weight of constant victory had become an albatross for the team.Does the spark go out after a while? Does routine dull the senses, even for the players?Well, Xabi Alonso and Bayer Leverkusen blew a hole in the narrative with last season’s invincible charge to the Bundesliga title — ending Bayern’s streak at 11, the longest such streak in Europe’s top five leagues. But this year, Vincent Kompany has led a resurgent Bayern back to the top of the table, and Alonso’s Leverkusen side, while still strong, has stumbled and is on the verge of being taken apart in the offseason. Bayern is back, and the Rekordmeister ready to start its Meisterschale streak anew. How does it feel? Weird? Euphoric? As hungry and prized a trophy as ever before?Or routine again — Bayern doing what Bayern does? Chime in with your thoughts below.Personally — this author feels the B04 interregnum was a good thing, winning in the domineering manner they did. It’s got to be used as an excuse to light that spark again. Now let’s get after it and springboard into next year!Looking to get ready for Bayern Munich’s Bundesliga showdown with RB Leipzig? FC Bayern Munich v Fenerbahce Beko Istanbul - Turkish Airlines EuroLeague Photo by Christina Pahnke/Euroleague Basketball via Getty Images On the rise. Bayern Munich has another home-produced prodigy on its hands. That’s no secret. Aleksandar Pavlović, at just 20 years of age, has already proven to be a major figure if not key player (when healthy) for club and country — a stunning rise over the course of less than two seasons.Sometimes, you just need a chance. And now Pavlović is getting well-deserved recognition — breaking into the Top 10 of ESPN’s list of 39 best U-21 men’s footballers. The German international checks in at No. 9 and is quoted as boasting an “estimated transfer value” of €50M on the current market — not that Bayern is about to sell such an asset! In the ESPN write-up, Pavlović draws comparisons to Javi Martínez and praised for his “composed and measured nature” and “exceptional maturity” — while adding that he could evolve into a more physical player, given his stature. Just ahead of Aleks on this year’s list is FC Barcelona’s Gavi. And dropping off the list this year from a Bayern perspective is the club’s last wunderkind — Jamal Musiala, who at 22 is now too old for consideration (Editor’s Note: oof, that was tough to write).Way to go Aleks!

Guarani v Independiente - Copa CONMEBOL Sudamericana Photo by Christian Alvarenga/Getty Images Well, this has come out of nowhere. As of now, Bayern Munich’s business for the summer transfer window has been limited to the signing of TSG Hoffenheim’s Tom Bischof. Understandably so, considering summer has not even started yet. But equally, the FIFA Club World Cup, starting in mid-June, might force the Bavarians to start their business a little earlier this year. And, according to reporter César Luis Merlo and Uriel Lugt (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern may be in the process of finalizing their second signing of the summer in Felipe Loyola: Bayern are in ‘very advanced’ negotiations to sign Felipe Loyola (24), who can play in midfield and right-back, from [Argentine club] Independiente. The club is in the final stages of closing the transfer for around €20m.Argentine sports channel TyC Sports (again captured by @iMiaSanMia) backs up the claim:Bayern are serious about Loyola and are considering offering €15-20m to sign him. The rights to Loyola are shared by Independiente (50%) and [previous club] Huachipato FC (50%), so each club would get half the fee. The player is very open to the move and Independiente are already looking for a replacement. But @iMiaSanMia also captured reporter Mario Krischel, of German news outlet kicker, refuting this news: Felipe Loyola is not a topic at FC Bayern, contrary to what was reported in Argentina. Some very basic information on Loyola is that he usually plays as a midfielder, but he can double as a right back as well. The dual Chile/Spanish citizen has only ever played in South America and only at Chilean clubs until last year, as he moved to Indepediente for around €1.65 million euros. Who is to be believed? The German source? Or the ones from South America? Time will tell who has the right information.

FC St. Pauli 1910 v Bayer 04 Leverkusen - Bundesliga Photo by Jörg Schüler/Bayer 04 Leverkusen via Getty Images Bayern Munich appears to be setting things up for a big move... According to a report from Sky Sport journalists Florian Plettenberg and Marlon Irlbacher (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich remains undeterred in its pursuit of Bayer Leverkusen attacking midfielder Florian Wirtz. On Tuesday, it was reported that Bayern Munich has reached an agreement on personal terms with Wirtz, but that news was quickly refuted by Die Werkself. Now, Sky Sport is reporting that nothing has been “confirmed” regarding the initial report, which leaves things exactly where they were yesterday. However, Sky Sport also indicates that Bayern Munich appears to be confident in getting Wirtz this summer:From Bayern’s perspective, nothing has changed regarding Florian Wirtz at the moment - Based on numerous meetings and phone calls between the club and the Wirtz family, Bayern still have the feeling that Wirtz wants to join them – even this summer. However, no one has confirmed a complete verbal agreement as things stand.Nevertheless, a deal would not fall through due to Wirtz’s salary demands. Wirtz could earn between €20-25 million per year at Bayern. He would also be offered a five-year contract. In the event of leaving Leverkusen, Wirtz and his family would still prefer a move to Munich, before eventually making the step abroad later in his career. As things stand, Leverkusen have not received any official communication from the Wirtz camp that the player wants to leave at the end of the season. Furthermore, there are currently neither negotiations nor direct talks between Bayern and Leverkusen regarding Wirtz.Leverkusen will demand at least €120-130m fixed plus add-ons for Wirtz this summer if he rejects a contract extension. Manchester City remain hopeful. The Wirtz saga will likely not end any time soon. The two clubs have — allegedly — not even started discussions which will inevitably drag out for a few weeks — if not months. Looking for more thoughts and discussion on Bayern Munich’s performance over the weekend against Mainz and where things stand in the Bundesliga? What about some chatter on whether or not bringing Leroy Sané back is a good idea? Finally, we hit on how Tom Bischof might fit in at Bayern Munich and whether or not that undermines the work being done on Bayern Munich’s campus. Bayer 04 Leverkusen v FC Augsburg - Bundesliga Photo by Ralf Ibing - firo sportphoto/Getty Images Turntables and all of that... With the news breaking on Tuesday that Eric Dier will be leaving Bayern Munich after the season, speculation immediately shifted to who the Bavarians might be able to bring in to help stabilize the center-back group of Dayot Upamecano, Kim Min-jae, and maybe Josip Stanišić.Enter Bayer Leverkusen defender and Germany international Jonathan Tah, at least per transfer expert Fabrizio Romano (as captured by @iMiaSanMia): Bayern maintain an interest in Jonathan Tah. The German international is still on Bayern’s list and they’re closely monitoring his situation. Tah has no agreement with Barcelona, but Barça are also still there.Romano is not the only reporter indicating that Bayern Munich and Tah could be working toward rekindling their courtship from the summer of 2024. Sky Sport journalist Florian Plettenberg also had information on the topic (as captured by @iMiaSanMia): Bayern have been seriously looking into Jonathan Tah again over the past 1-2 weeks and are aware that he has not yet signed with Barcelona.Dean Huijsen is also high on the list. But in order to sign a center-back for a high fee, a sale would currently be necessary (Kim Min-jae for example). Bayern have other centre-backs on their shortlist.Things got extremely complicated last summer and it strained the relationship between Tah, Bayern Munich, and Bayer Leverkusen. With Tah as a free agent this summer, maybe talks will be a bit easier. Looking to catch up on all of the weekend action from the Bundesliga?
