Real Betis Balompie v Chelsea FC - UEFA Conference League Final 2025 Photo by Richard Heathcote/Getty Images BVB just can’t quit him. Manchester United attacker Jadon Sancho never reached the same heights as he did with Borussia Dortmund during his first stint in Germany and BVB has not been as dangerous without its Prodigal Son. Sure, he had a less successful stint back in the second half of the 2023/24 season, but as Metallica once sang, “The memory remains...”A move to reunite the two sides almost makes too much sense — and could happen per Sky Germany’s Patrick Berger: ⚫️ #BVB is once again dealing with Jadon Sancho (25/ ). The topic is still being discussed internally and is not entirely closed. Manchester United is said to be demanding around €18-20m.Sancho has not been great since leaving Borussia Dortmund, so the fee could really be a little high. That said, it would not be shocking to see BVB give it another try with Sancho as part of its attack. Sancho had five goals and 10 assists in 42 games across all competitions last season for Manchester United and Chelsea FC. Bayern Munich is getting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz...now what? FC Barcelona v Bayern Muenchen - UEFA Youth League Photo by Berengui/DeFodi Images via Getty Images Best of luck at your new clubs. Though it is still summer, football is starting to return. Bayern Munich’s U-23s, for example, have already played their first match of the season, beating Augsburg’s U-23s 2-1 on the road. But that squad saw three major departures just before the match, with each departure worth their own discussions:Davide Dell’ErbaFirst on the list is Davide Dell’Erba. The dual German/Italian winger has left Germany for Italy, with Bayern’s official website confirming the 21-year-old’s move to Serie C side Novara FC:Davide Dell’Erba (April 6, 2004) is leaving the FC Bayern Amateurs for Italy, two years before the end of his contract. The 21-year-old left-footer is joining third-division club Novara FC. He transferred from the FC Augsburg academy to Munich in the summer of 2023 and has played a total of 50 times for the Amateurs in the Regionalliga Bayern (4 goals / 5 assists). His designation of “left-footer” rather nails the fact that Dell’Erba never truly nailed down one position. He would play in midfield, even out wide at times, but usually at left back to deputize in a position the U-23s had little depth in. Juventus were also rumored to be in for Dell’Erba, but he has eventually decided to find regular game time in the third division of Italian football.Hyun-ju LeeNext on the list of departees is Hyun-ju Lee. The midfielder arrived at Bayern from South Korean club Pohan Steelers on an initial loan in January of 2022, but impressed with his technique and confident play enough to earn a move. He was then quickly loaned out to eventually relegated 2. Bundesliga side Wehen Wiesbaden in the 2023/24 season, where he impressed enough to earn a move to 2. Bundesliga promotion favorites Hannover 96. At that point, it seemed very likely that the 22-year-old would leave Bayern, considering he joined Hannover with an option to buy of around €1 million. Lee impressed in spells for the 2. Bundesliga side but the team itself underperformed expectations, leading to the club hesitating to splash the cash for the technically brilliant midfielder. Instead, Bayern’s official website confirms that Lee is set to join Portuguese side FC Arouca in the same article that confirmed Dell’Erba’s departure:FC Bayern is releasing Hyunju Lee (February 7, 2003) to the Portuguese first division. The South Korean attacking midfielder has joined FC Arouca, who finished twelfth last season, on a permanent basis. There, he will [join] former Bayern player Taichi Fukui. Lee was loaned to SV Wehen Wiesbaden in the 2023/24 season and to Hannover 96 last season. He made a total of 52 appearances (seven goals) in the 2. Bundesliga for both clubs, and for FC Bayern, he has made 26 appearances (10 goals) for the amateurs in the Regionalliga Bayern. His contract in Munich would have run until June 2027.As the article mentions, he will join Japanese midfielder Taichi Fukui, who Lee played alongside with Bayern II, at Arouca. Fukui himself had only joined Arouca permanently from Bayern in January for a club record fee. But Korea media group The Korea JoongAng Daily reports, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, that the fee for Fukui will exceed the Fukui’s record fee:Bayern midfielder Lee Hyun-ju, who spent last season on loan in Hannover, is set for a permanent move to Portuguese side FC Arouca. The transfer fee is a club record amount, surpassing the €1.6m Arouca paid to Bayern for Taichi Fukui earlier this year.Considering Bayern would only have received €1 million from Hannover, the club can be happy about this. Lee gets to join a team that is relatively established in a top 8 league. And Arouca now have the chance to re-kindle a partnership for the two young and incredibly brilliant technical midfielders. This seems like a win for all parties.Luca DenkThis is the biggest bombshell. Defensive midfielder Luca Denk joined Bayern from Nürnberg as a massive talent in 2017 as a 15-year-old. Who knows how his…

Bayern, Woltemade getting closer? (Nicolò Schira)Transfer journalist Nicolò Schira is reporting that Bayern Munich and VfB Stuttgart could be getting close to a deal worth €50 million: Nick #Woltemade is getting closer to #BayernMunich from #Stuttgart for €50M. Agreed personal terms for a contract until 2030. #transfersSchira is not as tied into the Woltemade saga as some other journalists, so the proverbial grain of salt is needed with this one. However, there does seem to be at least some thought that VfB Stuttgart could be ready to waver on its hardline stance regarding Woltemade. With the deal for Luis Diaz expected to close within hours, Bayern Munich should be able to approach the Woltemade pursuit with more urgency. All that remains to be seen is if VfB Stuttgart is willing to part ways with a player it clearly values. LFC “prioritizing” move for Real’s Rodrygo (ESPN)With rumors swirling that Liverpool FC could make a move for Newcastle United star and former Borussia Dortmund striker Alexander Isak, there are other stories out there that say Liverpool could spring for Real Madrid’s Rodrygo: Liverpool are prioritizing a move for Real Madrid winger Rodrygo, according to TEAMtalk. The Reds reportedly see the 24-year-old as their No. 1 option to replace Luis Díaz as the Colombia international nears a €75 million move to Bayern Munich. But with belief that Los Blancos could demand a significant transfer fee worth close to €90m, the Anfield hierarchy are also lining up some alternatives. One of those is 20-year-old RB Leipzig and Norway international Antonio Nusa, while Lyon’s Malick Fofana, also 20, is another player on their radar.Bavarian Podcast Works — Flagship Show: Season 8, Episode 1 (Bavarian Football Works)Bayern Munich will have Luis Diaz in tow for this season, but that move is not the only one in motion. After allegedly getting that deal done, Bayern Munich can now expedite its plans for the rest of the transfer window, so let’s talk about it. Jamal Musiala is embracing the grind of his comeback, but it is too much, too soon?Müller could cost Vancouver $400K (Sport Bild’s Christian Falk)If Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller does choose to join the Vancouver Whitecaps, it will likely cost the Canadian club $400,000 to snatch Müller’s discovery rights away from FC Cincinnati:There have been talks that Muller will join Bayern’s partner club, Los Angeles FC, but he has rejected the move. Christian Falk informed CFBayern that Muller wants to go to Canada to join MLS outfit Vancouver Whitecaps. The Whitecaps are currently in talks with FC Cincinnati over the Discovery Rights of Muller. Cincinnati are likely to demand much more than $400,000 (around €340,000) from them.In the MLS, sorting out the discovery rights is not a big issue. If Muller wants to join the Whitecaps, the MLS will try to make it work. That is what happened here. Falk says that the MLS has intervened as a mediator to ensure that Muller’s transfer does not fail due to transfer demands from a club in its own league association. The MLS are negotiating at the moment with Cincinnati, while Vancouver are waiting for a Green light, so that Muller can sign a new contract with them until 2026.Juve prepping bigger offer for Kolo Muani (ESPN)Juventus…

Liga Photo by Roland Krivec/DeFodi Images via Getty Images It was a very eventful week for the Campus, including the U-23’s start to the season... U-23Here are the highlights of the match. While Bayern Munich’s first team were still enjoying their last days of vacation, the U-23s- Bayern II- already played their first game of the season against Augsburg’s U-23s. The U-23s have enjoyed an eventful summer, bringing in 5 signings. The highlight of those signings is clearly 30-year-old former Bayern youth player Benno Schmitz, who was playing in the Bundesliga up until a couple of years ago. But other signings such as 27-year-old winger Anton Heinz and 21-year-old striker Richard Meier have clearly suggested one goal for the U-23s this season: Promotion to the 3. Liga. Therefore, a victory against Augsburg to start the Regionalliga Bayern season was a must. The team lined up like this. On one hand, the team even started well into the match, mostly controlled the game well and demonstrated a desire to play dominantly, controlling possession with a high line. On the other, one of the few times the team lost control the opponents scored a goal, opening the scoring in just the 5th minute. It was one of those typical counter attacking goals behind a high line, with numbers overwhelming Bayern’s backline before a lucky bounce saw an Augsburg forward faced with an easy finish.Bayern would control most of the first half but struggle to create too many chances outside of wonderkid Felipe Chávez’s long shots. Staying patient into the second half, however, Adin Ličina was in the right spot to tap in the equalizer. It seemed that the game was heading to a draw, before super sub Jussef Nasrawe struck at the very end of added time, in the 94th minute, by curling in a beautiful strike from the edge of the box to seal the victory for Bayern.U-19Bayern’s U-19s played two friendlies this week, losing to 2-3 Leeds United’s U-21s and 1-4 to Eintracht Frankfurt’s U-19s. Any more information is present here. Furthermore, the U-19s played against the Bayern World Squad in the two teams’ annual encounter and surprisingly lost that, as well. Anyone who wants to watch the game free of charge on YouTube can do so here. The team is nearing the season’s start date on August 2nd.U-17Bayern’s U-17s played two friendlies and a tournament this past week, winning 4-0 against Leeds United’s U-18s and 7-0 against Stuttgart Kickers. The tournament went a little less successfully, as the U-17s took part in the 8-team Bundesliga Cup. There were wins against St. Pauli and Schalke but also defeats to TSG Hoffenheim (twice) and 1. FC Nürnberg to see the team finish in their final position of 4th. Bayern forward Frank Egwuatu finished as the tournament’s stop scorer. Any more info can be found here. The U-17s start date is still a ways away, as the season starts on August 30th.

Brighton & Hove Albion FC v Liverpool FC - Premier League Photo by Charlotte Wilson/Offside/Offside via Getty Images Should Liverpool have made a stronger effort? Liverpool site This is Anfield compiled a few reports indicating that Liverpool FC actually attempted to extend the contract of Luis Diaz before ultimately selling him to Bayern Munich: Liverpool had made two attempts to extend Luis Diaz’s contract before he agreed a £65.6 million transfer to Bayern Munich this summer. The 28-year-old saw Liverpool and Bayern Munich formally agree a deal to see the Colombian swap Anfield for the Allianz Arena on Sunday, with an offer of €75 million (£65.6m) accepted. However, The Times’ Paul Joyce, among others, have since reported that Liverpool made two failed attempts to extend Diaz’s contract.“It is understood there was an insurmountable gap between the offers pitched by Liverpool and the demands made by Diaz’s agent,” Joyce explained. The Echo’s Paul Gorst, meanwhile, adds that there had “been no rush on discussions” from the club’s side and that “stance led to frustration inside Diaz’s camp.” The 28-year-old had two years left on his contract at Anfield, which saw him earn around £140,000 per week, considerably more than the £55,000 previously claimed. For comparison, the likes of Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Darwin Nunez, Cody Gakpo and Federico Chiesa are believed to be in a similar bracket.Throughout the process, there was very little discussion regarding any attempts made by Liverpool to keep Diaz. That is all water under the bridge at this point, though, as the Colombian is expected to ink his contract with Bayern Munich in the coming hours. Bayern Munich is getting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz...now what? Let’s talk through why we should take a step back, relax, and try to make the best of the move. Chelsea FC v Paris Saint-Germain: Final - FIFA Club World Cup 2025 Photo by Image Photo Agency/Getty Images Wil Bayern Munich go big at goalkeeper after this season? According to transfer journalist Nicolò Schira, Bayern Munich will join Manchester City, Chelsea FC, Manchester United, and Galatasaray in chasing goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma should be opt to leave Paris Saint-Germain as a free agent after the 2025/26 season: Despite the last rumors, Gigio #Donnarumma has no decided his future yet. There is no agreement to extend with #Paris, as of now. So he could leave. #ManCity #Chelsea, #ManchesterUnited, #Galatasaray and #BayernMunich have shown interest in the italian goalkeeper. #transfersWith Manuel Neuer potentially entering his final season, Donnarumma could be very appealing to the Bavarians. While Jonas Urbig is on the roster and has likely been deemed “the next one”, it could be tough for the Bavarians to pass up a chance at bringing in a proven commodity like Donnarumma who has a Champions League title and a European Championship under his belt already. FC Bayern München Training Session Photo by F. Noever/FC Bayern via Getty Images The goalkeeper situation is rounding into form… Bayern Munich and Sven Ulreich’s relationship has to be among the steadiest player-club relationships. Youth keepers come and go, the squad undergoes massive overhauls, and yet, the keeper remains faithful to die Roten. Since signing in 2015 from VfB Stuttgart, he has backed Manuel Neuer, barring the 2020/21 season when he played for Hamburg. It is clear that the Bayern management trusts Ulreich — he is a solid keeper, with all the capabilities to be Neuer’s understudy and he does not seem to mind his position and playing time. With all these in consideration, it comes as no surprise that the Bavarians have decided to extend Sven Ulreich for another year. According to @iMiaSanMia, the contract has been extended to 2026. His previous contract was a four-year, from 2021-2025.Official: Sven Ulreich has extended his contract at FC Bayern until 2026 pic.twitter.com/SHyXsHkP7M— Bayern & Germany (@iMiaSanMia) July 29, 2025Further, a statement from the office regarding the extension was provided. Director of sport Max Eberl called Ulreich “reliability personified”, per @iMiaSanMia. “Characters like him are good for any team. We’re very happy to have him with us for another season,” he declared.

Tamworth v Tottenham Hotspur - Emirates FA Cup Third Round Photo by Simon Stacpoole/Offside/Offside via Getty Images It’s #TimoTime! Earlier this summer, the rumors linking RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner to the New York Red Bulls in MLS were all the rage. Now, though, there is hope that a Bundesliga side could be ready to take a chance at reviving the career of Werner — Borussia Mönchengladbach.BuLiNews.com captured a report from Bild, which had the most recent details on the situation to date: With Timo Werner no longer considered to be part of RB Leipzig’s plans, there’s now interest from other clubs in the Bundesliga. As Bild reports, Werner is being discussed internally as an option for Borussia Mönchengladbach. The Foals are convinced of his versatility given he can play wide left and up top, and could envision a transfer under two conditions. For one thing, the speedy attacker would have to forgo about two-thirds of his current salary to fit into their salary structure.Secondly, the tabloid suggests Gladbach would be dependent on Leipzig letting Werner leave on a free transfer.RB Leipzig has definitely moved from the Werner Era and really could be open to letting Werner leave for free. The bigger question might be if Werner would be willing to consider a paycut — which he really should be open to accept at this stage of his career if he really wants to put himself in a position to be a contributor on a good team. Would Gladbach be a good landing spot for a player in desperate need of a fresh start?Bayern Munich is getting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz...now what? UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2025 FinalEngland v Germany Photo by ANP via Getty Images Fabian Wohlgemuth is fully convinced the striker is staying put in Stuttgart... Now that Bayern Munich has finally agreed on a deal to sign Luis Diaz from Liverpool for a fee that will wind up costing around 75-million euros, the German Rekordmeister can shift their efforts back to VfB Stuttgart striker Nick Woltemade. After having their first two bids swiftly and promptly rejected by the Swabians, Bayern had decided to temporarily table their pursuit of Woltemade, but with the Diaz deal now done, there’s added impetus to try to re-engage with the DFB-Pokal champions. As things stand, Bayern wants Woltemade and Woltemade wants Bayern. There’s only one, rather big, problem that’s standing in the way; Stuttgart does not want to entertain any offers from Bayern that are anything less than 100 million euros. Mind you, this is certainly a talented young German striker, but he is only currently valued at 30 million euros. Stuttgart’s valuation of their frontman is a testament to their resiliency to wanting to let him go, especially after having lost Serhou Guirassy to Borussia Dortmund.Per information from Sky Germany (via @iMiaSanMia), Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth has doubled down on his stance that Woltemade will be a Stuttgart player next season and will not be joining Bayern. “There’s no news. Nick will very likely be part of our squad again this season. We’ve communicated that clearly and unequivocally. It’s our responsibility to focus on what will help us get a good start to the new season. That’s why we’re only thinking about the relevant topics. A transfer of Nick under the current circumstances is simply not relevant,” he bluntly stated. DFB Cup Handover Photo by Sebastian Gollnow/picture alliance via Getty Images This is something he has already said to the press before, but his statements alone will not cause Bayern to just walk away altogether. There’s a lot that can be done and Bayern often times recruits in Karl-Heinz Rummenigge and Uli Hoeneß to assist in transfer matters. It’s a well known fact that Hoeneß was involved in discussions with Florian Wirtz’s father before the player ultimately decided to join Liverpool instead after conversations with Arne Slot. When Wohlgemuth was asked about potential communications with either Bayern board member for sport Max Eberl or Hoeneß, he took the chance to comically deny any connection. “I’ve received many invitations, but not from my colleagues. I wouldn’t even know where they live,” he scoffed.Lip service from Wohlgemuth or not, Bayern still faces an uphill battle to try to convince Stuttgart to let Woltemade go. It will be all about finding the sweet spot in the valuation difference between both clubs combined with his current contract at Stuttgart that runs through June 2028. Bayern Munich is getting Liverpool’s Luis Diaz...now what? Let’s talk through why we should take a step back, relax, and try to make the best of the move. FC Bayern München v SV Werder Bremen - Bundesliga Photo by Harry Langer/DeFodi Images via Getty Images So many fans... Bayern Munich is reporting a “record demand” on tickets for Bundesliga home games at the Allianz Arena. Per the club, all games are now overbooked.CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen is thankful for the support. “Since the Allianz Arena was inaugurated 20 years ago, our stadium has been sold out for all of our competitive matches – that’s not something to be taken for granted, and we would like to sincerely thank all of our fans for that. The fact that the support has remained unbroken even after such a long time and that we have now achieved another record underscores both the importance of FC Bayern and our unique stadium,” Dreesen told FCBayern.com (as captured by @iMiaSanMia). “Without the Allianz Arena, FC Bayern would not be the club it is today. And what starts in the stands also resonates with our team: energy, commitment, and solidarity. We are all looking forward to the new season.”So much is going on in the land of Bayern Munich these days....Thomas Müller looks like he is headed to LAFC, but there could be bigger issues than that loss of personnel in Bavaria. There could be a disconnect in Bayern Munich’s office between the executives, the supervisory board, and the coaches, while VfB Stuttgart could be just as wacky as Bayern Munich these days. Let’s talk about why and also catch up on injured stars Hiroki Itō, Alphonso Davies, and Jamal Musiala! You can get all that and more on the latest edition of the Bavarian Podcast Works Show! Germany v France - UEFA European Under-21 Championship 2025 Semi-Final Photo by Christian Hofer/Getty Images Will the young German striker be next in line after Luis Díaz arrives in Bavaria? Now that Bayern Munich is sealing the deal on Liverpool FC forward Luis Díaz, the Bavarians can turn the focus back to the other big summer transfer target in attack: VfB Stuttgart’s Nick Woltemade. The up-and-coming German men’s national team forward has been in Bayern’s sights all summer but price has been an issue, with the German giants rebuffed in prior attempts to pry him away. There was even a report that Bayern was walking away from it all, one-sided as it was, although ‘for the time being’ always seemed like the operative words. If Bayern is back at the table, though, Stuttgart is keeping mum about it.Stuttgart sporting on Nick Woltemade and whether Bayern contacted Stuttgart again: “If there was contact, it took place behind closed doors. We won’t comment on that,” said VfB Stuttgart sporting director Fabian Wohlgemuth in comments captured by Az journalist Maximilian Koch (via @iMiaSanMia). “Nick is back [at Stuttgart training], we’re in contact. “His teammates welcomed him with a smile, and he arrived with a smile. I think he was happy to be back. He’s making a very good impression. He’s in good shape. So we’re looking forward to him. What’s said publicly sometimes has nothing to do with what’s going on internally.”Is it a good sign for Stuttgart that Woltemade is beginning the preseason with the team? Count on Bild to read deep into the tea leaves on that one. Via @iMiaSanMia:Nick Woltemade arrived with his Stuttgart teammates in Rottach-Egern, Tegernsee today for a training camp. Uli Hoeneß lives about a ten-minute drive from there, while Max Eberl’s is even closer. It’s not ruled out that a meeting between Bayern and VfB officials would take place at Tegernsee [@BILD]

Liverpool FC v Bayern Muenchen - Pre-Season Friendly Photo by Andrew Powell/Liverpool FC via Getty Images The Colombian attacker will unlock the next level of Bayern’s attack. By acquiring Luis Díaz from Liverpool, Bayern Munich is on the verge of making the club’s first big signing of the 2025 summer transfer window. Flirtations with Florian Wirtz and Nico Williams fell short but Bayern fans will exhale this week once Bayern finally lock down a versatile attacker to complement Jamal Musiala and company.A lot of critics have pointed to Díaz’s high price tag (reportedly €75M) and age (28) as roadblocks for this deal to judged as an acceptable risk. However, Díaz will succeed at Bayern where his countryman, James Rodríguez, and former teammate, Sadio Mané, failed.Off-ball movementIf you look at his goals in the Premier League last season (NBCSports via YouTube), all 13 situations were created by a unique run from Díaz that generated space for himself and usually a teammate as well. Admittedly, Díaz is not exactly a pure creative force on the ball. The biggest beneficiaries of Díaz’s presence will be Musiala and Alphonso Davies. Díaz loves to create for others with quick passes and clever flicks. Kingsley Coman, Leroy Sané, and Serge Gnabry never found a way to open up these opportunities for Davies on the left flank.Bayern struggled horribly with low blocks in Vincent Kompany’s first season. Díaz is not a magic key but his runs should inspire the rest of the attack in the final third to create problems for the rest of the Bundesliga.Work rateDíaz is known for his relentless work rate on both sides of the pitch. He wins a fair amount of ground duels and is fantastic in ball recovery. He is particularly effective in the high press and will always put his head down to sprint back for balls if Davies gets caught too high on an overlapping run.Paired on the depth chart with Coman, Díaz will be a fantastic change of pace option. Coman is definitely faster at every distance but Díaz has a sneaky acceleration that will prove opportunistic if he replaces Coman in a match. No right back in the world wants to chase Coman for 60 minutes then have to deal with a fresh Díaz.Availability and flexibilityBesides a knee (LCL) injury in 2022 that sidelined him for six months, Díaz has only missed eight total games in seven years as a professional footballer. Between club and country, he has played 9,000 minutes the past two seasons and stayed in playing shape the entire time. Díaz has the ability to play as a left winger, attacking midfielder, and pure forward. He was incredibly efficient as a false nine at Liverpool, although that might have to wait until Musiala is back to full strength or Harry Kane is out for an extended period.Díaz is 28-years-old and should be able to play at this same level for another three or four years. A lot of pundits have predicted that he will end up in the Saudi Pro League at some point, prompting a likely sell-on clause in the transfer from Liverpool. However, Díaz is fiercely loyal and will want to fulfill his full contract in Munich.ConclusionDíaz is not a guaranteed A+ transfer like everyone wanted in Wirtz. He will be an upgrade over the current winger options and will prevent Bayern from overpaying Stuttgart for Nick Woltemade this summer. He may not be the singular piece that elevates Bayern to a Champions League winner but he will immediately elevate Bayern in the immediate future.
