According to a report from Sport Bild journalist Christian Falk, Bayern Munich legend Thomas Müller has rejected a move to LAFC and — as reported on Saturday — is in talks with the Vancouver Whitecaps.The news first broke on Saturday (covered here), but now seems like it is progressing toward a move: As British sports journalist Ben Jacobs reports, the Vancouver Whitecaps are in contact with the 2014 World Cup winner. The current focus of the talks is said to be how the Canadian MLS team could acquire the pre-emptive rights to Müller from FC Cincinnati.BILD had reported that, in addition to Los Angeles FC, another MLS club was in the running for Müller. Now it’s clear: LA is out of the running. Negotiations with Vancouver are only focusing on final details. The target is a contract until the end of 2026.Background: In the American soccer league, it is common practice for each club to claim up to seven players per year through the so-called “right of discovery.” Only the team with the resulting transfer rights is then allowed to negotiate with the player. In Müller’s case, FC Cincinnati holds the rights to him. If other clubs want to sign him, they must purchase the rights.That’s exactly what the Vancouver Whitecaps are trying to do now. It is common knowledge within the Bayern Munich community that Jamal Musiala will be sidelined for the foreseeable future with a severe injury. How long he will be on the mend remains to be seen. However, if a recent Bild report is to be believed, Musiala may be back on the pitch before the year is out.As captured by @iMiaSanMia, the report goes into detail about Musiala’s recovery process. At the time of writing, Musiala will be wearing a protective shoe for around six weeks, also using crutches during said period. Following those six weeks, his foot will be re-examined.Should the green light be given then, the next step will follow. Musiala will resume light running and functional training around August. If all goes well, he could also take his first steps outside in the following weeks. Bild projects a comeback as early as November if everything goes as planned, or December at the latest.However, as countless examples have shown(remember Manuel Neuer’s skiing disaster?), fractures are not to be dealt with lightly. Bild’s projection seems optimistic, but one cannot disregard any potential setbacks in the process, especially with an injury as severe as this one. Musiala himself seems to be eager to get back on the pitch as soon as possible. He has even started light fitness training on his upper body already. Bayern fans will be hoping for a speedy recovery from the wunderkind, but also a safe and secure one.

As Bayern Munich’s preseason preparations are just about underway for the 2025/26 season, the club is still in the midst of key transfer negotiations, and they’re trying to get as much business done as possible as quickly as possible. At the forefront of the transfer efforts, Bayern is edging closer to signing Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, but there are also movements elsewhere in the squad.Per information from kicker as well as Italian football journalist Matteo Moretto (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern is close to finding a solution for Bryan Zaragoza, who just completed a loan stint at CA Osasuna. After recently turning down the chance to play for Jose Mourinho at Fenerbahce in Turkey, it is now understood that there are a handful of clubs Bayern is actively negotiating with for the Spanish winger.It is said that all of Celta Vigo, FC Porto, AFC Bournemouth, and an unidentified French club are all interested in potentially signing Bryan this summer. His current contract at Bayern runs through June 2029, but it became clear under Thomas Tuchel when he was manager that there wasn’t really a place for him in the squad, prompting the desire for a loan spell away from the club. For him, it was a difficult situation after Bayern had expedited his signing from Granada to January 2024 amidst a slew of key injuries in the squad in the attacking area of the pitch.As things stand, with the four clubs that are currently in the mix to potentially acquire Zaragoza, Bayern is hopeful of getting a paid loan deal done with a buy option attached, potentially making said buy option mandatory. If they were able to do so, it would help re-earn some of the 17mmillion euros they paid to sign him from Granada, though his current market value via transfermarkt is only 12 million. Another loan to Osasuna could also be an option, though it is not understood whether or not they would be open to the idea of a permanent buy at the end of the new potential new loan period. For the La Liga outfit where he spent the last season on loan, finances would the biggest issue in potentially being able to sign him on a permanent basis. And what I feel is simply a huge amount of appreciation, up and down the country. I don’t have the feeling something’s being taken away from me. So I don’t see why I should cry,” — MüllerAddressing Thomas Müller’s departure from Bayern Munich is difficult for anyone who has watched the sport for long enough — he has deeply impacted modern football. Yet, most non-Bayern fans give a very superficial recount of his career — his loyalty is praised, his humor is mentioned, and yet, rarely is there discourse on his skills as a player. Arguably, we all grew up in an era of “aesthetics”. Picture-perfect dribbling and skills reign supreme and compilation videos do an endless favor to players who can pander to that audience. Game intelligence, though the cornerstone of football simply does not get enough credit, and that is where a player like Thomas Müller goes. A man with a trophy cabinet larger than some clubs’ entire legacies and yet, you would never see a loud compilation of his skills with phonk in the background. “The issue of being underrated is something I’ve never felt. The only thing I would have liked to have spoken out more against, although the discussion wouldn’t have helped me back then or I didn’t want to have it, is: technique is not dribbling! Of course, dribblers and, above all, exceptional dribblers who can go straight past you give the team that special something and are very, very rare, and they are the “technicians” people talk about. And yet I always had the feeling that I certainly did have and still do have very, very good technique when it comes to the basic elements.” — Müller.Against this backdrop, Bayern, as a club, is obligated to deliver an appropriate farewell for a legend of his stature. The documentary aims to give a nostalgic lens into what was 25 years of service and a legacy that cannot be reached by any player, ever. Where this documentary is different from the Amazon Prime “Einer wie Keiner” is the less dramatic approach. There is no lens into his personal life, no overt emotion and yet, it does not feel impersonal. The candid, anecdotal approach they take up in this setting actually contributes a much-needed personal touch. Additionally, while the Prime documentary often meandered in timelines and topics, The Original 25 stays on track. It is a proper chronological address, starting from his years in the academy, until his departure. Müller explains that often, youth coaches are not credited as much as they should be. He credits his U-18 coach Kurt Niedermayer for believing in him like no one else could have. “The players who are here have, of course, a certain amount of talent, which we naturally want to develop and continue to develop, if possible, for our own professional team,” Niedermayer explained, in a clip from the early 2000s.Further, Niedermayer explained the role of Hermann Gerland in deciding a player’s further trajectory — whether it would be with Bayern. Though it is known that Gerland played a key role in Müller’s introduction, it is revealed by Müller that he had to play his role in convincing der Tiger of his abilities. Gerland, though trusted Müller to have a great career, still remains in shock. He explained that in retrospect, he could have never imagined Müller’s career taking the trajectory it did. “What I can be grateful to him for in retrospect is that he did campaign for FC Bayern to not just let me go to Hoffenheim, because, of course, he didn’t want to lose me,” Müller said, revealing that Gerland ensured he did not leave for Hoffenheim. Bild’s Nico Linner (via @iMiaSanMia) had the initial details: Shortly before the start of pre-season, Adam Aznou has submitted a transfer request to the club’s bosses. The Moroccan wants to be sold permanently this summer if possible. Aznou had imagined staying at the club until recently, but after the Club World Cup he sees no hope of getting more appearances under Vincent Kompany. It remains unclear whether and under what conditions Bayern will let him go. Several clubs have shown interest.Paddy Boyland of The Athletic (via @iMiaSanMia) then sprung news that Everton wanted Aznou: Everton have made progress over a deal for Adam Aznou. As much as Bayern Munich is currently focused on trying to get a deal over the line with Liverpool to sign Luis Diaz and potentially re-enter negotiations to sign Nick Woltemade from VfB Stuttgart, there is still business to be done for some of the younger, fringe players in the squad. The club still needs to figure out what they want to do with youngsters Paul Wanner, Lovro Zvonarek, Adam Aznou, and Jonah Kusi-Asre, in addition to Bryan Zaragoza who just recently turned down a move to Fenerbache in Turkey. For Wanner, Aznou, Zvonarek and Zaragoza, there have been a handful of clubs that have shown interest in trying to sign them, so things could happen rather quickly after Bayern’s preseason preparations officially begin. For the 18-year-old Kusi-Asare, the situation is slightly more complicated.Per information from Bild correspondents Tobi Altschäffl and Nico Linner (via @iMiaSanMia), Bayern would like to loan out Kusi-Asare somewhere that he can get regular minutes and gain valuable experience at a higher level than the Regionalliga. To be able to do his, Bayern would first have to extend his contract beyond June 2026 so that a loan spell would not technically exceed his Bayern contract. At this point, it is not yet clear which clubs a loan deal is being considered with, but it would be the best option for the Swedish youngster as well as Bayern.There is also added impetus for Kusi-Asare to find somewhere at a higher level than playing in the Regionalliga since Vincent Kompany has not often relied too heavily on the younger players in his squad. He has a preference to relying more heavily on the more experienced players in the squad and, as a result, a lot of the younger players have not really had the opportunities that they might otherwise deserve. His situation lends itself to the argument that has been made that the club needs to place more emphasis on developing youth talents from their own campus, which they, not so long ago, spent a great deal of money on revamping.

While the Bavarians want Woltemade badly, they are unwilling to get the transfer fee to a level that Stuttgart is comfortable with just yet. As it stands, Woltemade is off to camp with VfB Stuttgart (per Sport Bild’s Julian Agardi via @iMiaSanMia) Nick #Woltemade is not returning to Tegernsee on Monday, but already today to #VfB. In the morning, the striker will undergo his performance diagnostics and fitness tests in Bad Cannstatt. The day after tomorrow, he will head to Rottach-Egern. Woltemade still aims to join FC #Bayern.
