Germany men’s national team center-back Antonio Rüdiger was at the center of an ugly incident in the closing minutes of the latest El Clásico in Spain: the Copa del Rey Final on Saturday between FC Barcelona and Real Madrid.Rüdiger has now been hit with a six-match suspension, according to kicker, but a knee injury he suffered in the same game will lessen the impact of the decision:The season is coming to an end for Antonio Rüdiger, just as frustrating as it already feels for Real Madrid fans. Following his outburst in injury time in the Copa del Rey final loss to FC Barcelona (2-3 after extra time), the Royal’s defensive leader was suspended for six matches. He will therefore not be eligible to play again until Matchday 2 of the next season, although he will be out for several weeks anyway due to knee surgery.Barça won 3-2 over Rüdiger’s Madrid side, confirming the Catalans’ string of victories under head coach Hansi Flick (formerly of Bayern Munich) over their rivals this season. Rüdiger was one of three Madrid players to be shown the red card in stoppage time — along with Lucas Vázquez and later Jude Bellingham. Toni is an outstanding footballer and a very emotional guy, a fighter on the pitch. He should stay that way.“But in this case, he and some of his teammates allowed themselves to be too ‘infected’ by the extremely heated atmosphere that had inexplicably prevailed around the club before the game. That’s unacceptable — especially not for a German international. Toni has to change in that regard, and he knows it himself. According to a report from Abendzeitung journalist Maximilian Koch (as captured by @iMiaSanMia), Bayern Munich is not sweating the recent criticism hurled from Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro: Fernando Carro’s recent statements criticizing Bayern bosses over Florian Wirtz were received calmly at Säbener Straße. Bayern are aware that Carro is passionate and is fighting to keep his player. Nevertheless, Bayern remain determined to sign Wirtz, who is the absolute priority. Wirtz has yet to make a final decision on his future. Should Xabi Alonso and other key players depart the club, there wouldn’t be many reasons for him to stay. Bayern are hoping to sign Wirtz for less than his €140m market value. But in general, the club is willing to go to the limit and even beyond. Welcome to the FC Bayern Campus Round Up, where the matches of Bayern Munich’s U-17 and U-23 squads are recapped, line ups are provided and the highlights to each match are hyperlinked on top of their respective score lines. This week, the U-19s did not have a match but will resume their season next week. Information on the matches is provided by the official FC Bayern website here and here. Unfortunately, Bayern did not release the highlights for the U-17 match. Additionally, none of these matches can be viewed in full length without an FCBayernTV subscription. And what a way it was to confirm that dubious honor. Having won on the previous weekend against 1. FC Schweinfurt to open the door to promotion a sliver, the team played against Aubstadt in midweek to push that door further open...only to lose the match and incur multiple new injuries, as well. It is not as if Bayern II have not been used to injuries this season. Practically every match sees the team without at least half a dozen player. But losing 12 players to injury, as well as seeing striker Jonah Kusi-Asare join the senior team’s matchday squad, a particularly bare bones team traveled to Greuther Fürth.And immediately went down to 10 men before the 20 minute mark. Paul Scholl, Lennard Becker and Luca Denk (right as the commentator was praising the former two, as well) completely fell asleep and allowed a lofted pass to find a forward, with goalkeeper Anthony Pavlešić rushing out, completely missing the ball and only getting the player. It was an obvious red card. To add insult to injury, Fürth scored from the resulting free kick.From there, it was a difficult watch as the home team repeatedly took advantage of their one man advantage. It really could have been a lot worse. Poor Hannes Heilmaier, bought just last summer, had to make his debut after Pavlešić was sent off. He even made a few decent saves but was repeatedly overwhelmed as the game wore on. The only real bright spark for Bayern was Guido Della Rovere, another signing in the summer who has been growing from strength to strength this year. He is a talent to keep an eye on.As mentioned above, promotion is not longer mathematically possible for Bayern II. Schweinfurt are now 11 points clear of the Bavarians’ U-23s with 3 games to go.Bayern U-19 2-1 Wolfsburg U-19Bayern lineup: Schmitt - Dalpiaz, Mijatović, Puljić, Ofli - Chávez (83. Schuhbauer), Santos, Richter (26. There was a lot on the line for this one, so the likes of Magnus Dalpiaz, Felipe Chávez and Lennart Karl returned to the U-19s for this match. Aleksandar Pavlović has made quite a name for himself over the last year in Munich. With Bayern Munich, he solidified himself as an elite midfielder and became one of the top young prospects in the country. It didn’t take long for German national team coach Julian Nagelsmann to take notice. However, a comment Nagelsmann made indicated perhaps Pavlović wouldn’t be jumping right back in with Germany.After missing Euro 2024, Pavlović is certainly keen to play a big role with the national team, but issues and illnesses seem to keep arising. Nagelsmann commented on Pavlović injury and fitness issues previously by saying “to play a really important role in the national team, you have to at least play 70-80 percent of the games”. Aleksandar Pavlović on a possible return to the national team for the Nations League Final Four: "We've talked [with Nagelsmann], but not about that. There's still a bit of time until then. I'll do my best to be there. The coach and I have a good exchange. We can all say this about Bayern Munich center-back Eric Dier, the man is not afraid of an adventure. After making the jump to Bayern Munich back in January of 2024 — and subsequently putting in a season-and-a-half of excellent work, Dier will leave Bavaria and make the move to AS Monaco this summer per L’Equipe’s Loïc Tanzi: While AS Monaco, 4th in Ligue 1 with three matches remaining in the championship, still doesn’t know if it will compete in the Champions League next season, its management is already very active behind the scenes to move forward with the outline of its squad. The Principality club is about to make an interesting first move: eager to bring experience to a young squad, the Monegasques are very close to being able to formalize the signing of Eric Dier.The England international (49 caps, three goals) is expected to be a key player for ASM next season, and his contract with the German club is out. The length of his contract has not been disclosed. When contacted, the Principality club declined to comment.Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano backed up Tanzi’s report: ⚪️ Eric Dier to AS Monaco, here we go! Can he remain in the Bundesliga? Daniel Peretz has had a fairly productive time at Bayern Munich despite not having regular chances to see the field.Since arriving in the 2023/24 season, Peretz has made just five starts and seven appearances total — perhaps the most high profile of those being his 72 minutes of relief work after Manuel Neuer’s red card in Bayern’s dramatic DFB-Pokal exit this season at the hands of Bayer Leverkusen. While watching Bayern snap up successor candidates for Neuer to place in line in front of him, Peretz has turned his attention to future opportunities at least temporarily away from Bavaria. The 24-year-old could still be able to remain in the Bundesliga, however — per a report from Sky Sport DE, as captured by @iMiaSanMia:Eintracht Frankfurt are interested in Daniel Peretz following Kauã Santos’ serious knee injury. Talks are already taking place. Southampton and RC Lens are also showing interest in the goalkeeper. Peretz is set to leave Bayern in the summer either through a loan or a permanent transfer with a buy-back clause. The keeper himself prefers a loan, ideally within the Bundesliga [@SkySportDE]Santos, a 22-year-old Brazilian keeper, is in his second season with Eintracht Frankfurt and has started just eight times in the Bundesliga so far. Tottenham Hotspur FC v Nottingham Forest FC - Premier League Photo by Ryan Pierse/Getty Images Tottenham are not ready to offer up to €50m for Tel, and want the boy-on clause price to be lowered. While he has not exactly lit the world afire in North London on his loan spell with Tottenham Hotspur from Bayern Munich thus far, it was a move the opened the door to opportunity for Mathys Tel to gain valuable minutes — something he was not getting under Vincent Kompany at Bayern. When Bayern and Tottenham agreed on the loan deal during the winter transfer fee, a buy-on clause was worked in to the agreement, should Spurs choose to buy the Frenchmen on a permanent basis.At Bayern, the club’s bosses have been hoping that Tottenham would trigger the buy-on clause at the end of the loan spell and buy Tel for somewhere in the region of 50-million euros. However, it is not looking like Ange Postecoglou’s side will want to spend that much on the attacker.Per information from GiveMeSport’s Dean Jones (via @iMiaSanMia), Tottenham is going to try to negotiate that fee down for Tel. They plan on trying to wriggle the fee down to somewhere in the range of 35-million euros, which would be roughly 30-million pounds. It is understood that Postecoglou, Tottenham, the coaching staff, and his teammates have admired Tel’s attitude, work rate, and integration into the team in such a short window, hence the reason for wanting to explore the buy-on clause in the loan deal, albeit at a lower rate than Bayern would currently want. Tottenham would also really like the opportunity for Tel to have a full pre-season with the squad and they feel confident that Kompany and Bayern do not have plans of working him back into the team. There could certainly be movement with either Serge Gnabry or Kingsley Coman, but Michael Olis has become a sure-fire starter under Kompany and Leroy Sané is now likely to get a reduced-wages contract extension. Nonetheless, a future with consistent minutes for Tel at Bayern seems highly unlikely, hence their preference to have Tottenham buy him permanently.

At this point, the Joshua Kimmich and Leon Goretzka pivot is infamous at Bayern Munich. The duo have played together at the club for 7 years now and, despite ups and downs, have always found a way to beat out the competition at the club to become the regular duo in midfield. Even this season, with Goretzka relegated to the very fringes of the squad, did Bayern eventually end up fielding the so-called “Kimmretzka” duo in the business end of the season.The duo are also very good friends and Kimmich has complimented Goretzka’s skills on many occasions over the years. But what if, all of a sudden, Kimmich would actually prefer to see Goretzka replaced as his midfield partner? According to the speculation report from Stefan Kumberger of Sport1, as captured by @iMiaSanMia, Bayern’s #6 would prefer a ball playing midfielder to play next to him:It’s no secret that Joshua Kimmich prefers to play in midfield. He feels he’s not involved enough when he plays at right-back and wants more responsibility and influence over the game. Kimmich has hinted several times internally that he believes he performs best when paired with a ball playing midfield partner, and not a box-to-box player like Goretzka.Kimmich still raves about his former teammate Thiago. Although he didn’t form a double pivot with him so often, Kimmich believes that having a midfield partner of Thiago’s caliber would be ideal - a profile that only Aleksandar Pavlović provides in the current squad. João Palhinha is a completely different type of player. New signing Tom Bischof is not a Thiago profile either. It’s questionable whether the people in charge can or want to comply with Kimmich’s wish in their squad planning, which is likely to remain a wish.BFW AnalysisSuch reports are always...frustrating to analyze. Even in the report, it is clear that the reporter took several puzzle pieces, from small comments made from Kimmich in the past, to build the narrative that Kimmich wants a ball playing midfielder as a partner. Did the reporter put the pieces together correctly or... well, not? Without knowing the hints the report did not share, that is impossible for us outsiders to figure out concretely. All we can do is speculate. Or we can look at all the times Kimmich has clearly communicated that he likes playing with Goretzka.Regardless of whether or not Kimmich has this opinion or not, it does seem as if it is slowly coming true. Though the report prefers to focus on the nebulous concept of a “Thiago profile” (What does that mean? Does a player with a Thiago profile need to be good on the ball? Tackle well? Be injury prone? Be specific, please) Bayern are starting to fill the squad with midfielders who are genuinely very good with the ball at their feet. Pavlović is one such ball playing midfielder and Bischof is as well. For a long time, Kimmich has had to bear the brunt of the work while building up play. But it seems that, finally, Germany’s captain will have a partner to take some off the load of his shoulders.

With the news that Eric Dier will be leaving Bayern Munich in favor of AS Monaco next season, many fans immediately started to assess what the center-back situation might look like for 2025/26. With Dayot Upamecano and Kim Min-jae expected back at the moment***, Josip Stanišić is being pegged (we swear it is a safe link) as the third center-back in the mix, with Hiroki Itō as the fourth option. The problem, though, is that Stanišić is the team’s best right-back (though Vincent Kompany prefers Konrad Laimer in the role) and Itō will be needed to fill the void at left-back until Alphonso Davies returns from his ACL injury. Nothing is official yet, but all signs point to Bayern Munich center-back Eric Dier inking a deal with AS Monaco for next season. There was some speculation that Dier would get a contract offer from Bayern Munich. but it would all be to no avail now. Recently, Bayern Munich board member for sport Max Eberl addressed the Dier situation and indicated the Englishman was important to the team, but did not seem ready to commit to a longer stay in Bavaria. “Eric has underlined his importance since Dayot Upamecano’s injury and shown how solid he is. He’s there and knows what he can do,” Eberl said, via ransport (and captured by @iMiaSanMia) but stopped short of confirming any plans of keeping Dier. “He’s a very, very important player for us in this phase. We’ll see who’s in the squad [for next season] on August 1.”For the first half of the 2024/25 season, it seemed as of Dier’s contract at Bayern Munich was never going to be extended past 2025. Though he had been surprisingly excellent and had developed into a starter under Thomas Tuchel, new head coach Vincent Kompany had the Englishman rooted to the bench for the majority of the Hinrunde.But things change. Fellow center-backs Kim Min-Jae and Dayot Upamecano have struggled with injuries in the Rückrunde and gave Dier a chance to prove he deserves to be a more important member of the squad. The former Tottenham Hotspur player has subsequently again worked his way to a more important role as the Rückrunde (second half of the season) has gone on and Eberl has admitted Dier’s importance to the squad.It has long been said that Dier is an imperfect fit for Kompany’s squad and it certainly seemed that way in the first half of the season. Now, though, Dier proved once again how important he can be to a team...and next season, AS Monaco could be the benefactor of Dier’s performances.

Back in 2023, rumors began to swirl that Bayern Munich was hot for FC Barcelona center-back Ronald Araújo.Back then, Araújo was likely using Bayern Munich as leverage in trying to get a new deal from the Catalans, while the Bavarians were desperately seeking to bolster their defensive ranks. Now, well, Bayern Munich is still looking to do that and Araújo might be available per Sport journalist Luiz Miguel Sanz (via @iMiaSanMia): Ronald Araújo is one of the options Bayern are considering as a potential replacement for Kim Min-jae in addition to the likes of Dean Huijsen and Jonathan Tah. The Uruguayan defender has lost his starting spot under Hansi Flick and could be on the way out this summer. Araújo has a confidential agreement with Barcelona that allows him to leave the club at a fixed price between July 1 and 15. A report from Sport.de is refuting Foot Mercato’s story that Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz are nearing an agreement on personal terms: On Tuesday, the portal reported an agreement between Florian Wirtz and FC Bayern regarding “fundamental contract terms.” The Munich team was “quite willing to go out on a limb regarding the length and salary,” it said.However, as RTL/ntv and sport.de learned exclusively upon inquiry from Bayer Leverkusen, there is no truth to the new revelations. The club stated that it was “the 1000th hoax.”Wirtz is a declared target for FC Bayern, who have been aggressively courting the difference-maker from Bayer Leverkusen for some time . His current contract with last season’s champions is valid until 2027, and a transfer fee in the hundreds of millions of euros is being sought.The key thing to note here is that the denial came from Bayer Leverkusen — and not the camp of Wirtz. Announced in the sights of Manchester City, Real Madrid and even Bayern Munich, the Pulheim native maintains the suspense.And as Bayer Leverkusen prepares to lose their coach Xabi Alonso, we can confirm that a contractual agreement has been reached between Wirtz and Vincent Kompany’s Bayern Munich. Bayern Munich have a big summer ahead. With the Club World Cup looming, and the club desperate for silverware, there is growing pressure among the club. On top of the big tournament, there is a high amount of transfers expected, both in and out of the club. New names to the list include Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry.While the club was expected to sell several players this summer, or at least attempt to, Leon Goretzka was not initially on this list. Once again, the club seems to underestimate or reject Leon Goretzka despite strong performances and showing the right attitude. Gnabry on the other hand, is not the player from previous seasons at Bayern, but is a good player coming off the bench and a helping hand.Bayern bosses are ready to sell Leon Goretzka and Serge Gnabry this summer, even though they've been playing a bigger role recently.
