Sec. Rubio commended the awardees for their courage and thanked them for their work “securing a more just world.”
He gave a special recognition to
awardee Amit Soussana from Israel, who was held hostage by Hamas and shared details about sexual violence.
Rubio introduced the First Lady, who he called an “inspiration.”
Mrs. Trump began her remarks saying, “Throughout my life, I have harnessed the power of love as a source of strength during challenging times.”
“Love has inspired me to embrace forgiveness, nurture empathy, and exhibit bravery in the face of unforeseen obstacles,” she said. “Today, we celebrate courage – a strength that is based in love,” she said.
[...]
After the First Lady spoke, State Department Spokesperson Tammy Bruce announced and delivered the awards on stage along with First Lady Trump and Sec. Rubio.
Amit Soussana spoke afterwards and described her 55 days being held hostage and October 7.
“Today I understand the true meaning of freedom in a way I never had before…to see the moon and stars and to breathe, to choose one own’s life, those are things I will never take for granted,” Soussana said.
“For too many families there is no hope, only waiting, only longing,” she said.
Soussana called for the release of hostages. “I call on the world to act and bring them home now.”
As the women awardees — some of them dressed in colorful clothing showcasing their home cultures — exited the stage, they were given a final standing ovation.
The event concluded at 1:35p.

President Trump is joined in the Oval Office by Kid Rock for the signing of an executive order targeting unfair scalping of concert tickets:
"This is a great first step."
I find it notable that the Left/MSM seem very uninterested in Marine Le Pen being jailed and barred from office, as a top contender for France’s 2027 presidential election.
Meanwhile, the same Left/MSM had wall-to-wall 24/7 coverage about Navalny, and cried that Putin was a dictator. They worshiped Navalny for weeks, had a public NATO meeting already organized with his wife and made the entire thing into a massive spectacle, despite Navalny polling at less than 2%, and getting caught working with NATO intelligence assets…
If the Left/MSM actually cared about Democracy, they would be up in arms about Le Pen, but they are not. They only care about “Democracy” when it benefits them. It’s all theater. They are willing to jail political opposition when it’s in their favor.
This narrative that NATO are righteous defenders of democracy is an outright lie. France just proved it again today.
How can NATO claim Putin is a dictator that must be stopped, when NATO countries do far worse?
“Democracy” is an illusion.

Subject: in-town pool #4: Leavitt quotes on tariffs
ON WEDNESDAY'S LIBERATION DAY ROSE GARDEN TARIFF EVENT:
"The president will be announcing a tariff plan that will roll back the unfair trade practices that have been ripping off this country for decades. He's doing this in the best interest of the American worker."
ON THE DEPORTATION OF 17 ALLEGED TdA/MS-13 TERRORISTS TO EL SALVADOR:
"These are convicted felons, murderers, rapists who are no longer in our country and I think we should all be very grateful for that."
ANYTHING COUNTRIES CAN DO TO STAVE OFF TARIFFS?
"These countries have been ripping off our country for far too long, and they've made, I think they're disdain for the American worker, quite clear. If you look at the unfair trade practices that we have: 50% from the European Union on American dairy, you have a 700% tariff from Japan on American rice. You have a 100% tariff from India on American agricultural products. You have nearly a 300% tariff from Canada on American butter and American cheese. This makes it virtually impossible for American products to be imported into these markets and it has put a lot of Americans out of business and out of work over the past several decades. So it's time for reciprocity and it's time for a president to take historic change."
Leavitt name-checked Secretary Bessent, Secretary Lutnick, Jamieson Greer, Peter Navarro, Kevin Hassett, Stephen Miller as contributing plans to the president to help formulate the tariff policy.
