A quick summary: the attacker has to be a local Linux user on your system and then he can escalate the privileges with a very simple script.

GPD (the folks who made all the handhelds I've been using since 2017) are building the first MCIO device (sadly, a mini-PC) and a universal eGPU box for it.
No pricing yet, but I'm curious about G2. The advantage is near-zero loss compared to internal PCI connections (vs 10-40% on modern eGPU boxes via Thunderbolt, USB4, and Oculink).

Subnautica 2 is coming into early access in just a few days!

Valve recently imported a huge amount of "game consoles" to the United States. Half-Life 3: confirmed!
The search of the imported goods is private but you can look for the keyword "Valve" and get literally pipes + game controllers and game consoles.

It's been over a decade since McGee's sister Mercy Covington went missing.
On April 30th 2015, American was threatened on Facebook via several messages regarding Gamergate (the public outrage over links between media and publishers in the game industry, affecting review scores, etc. And it was the first stand against forced diversity in videogame industry).
The message not only stated the city where Mercy lived, but mentioned her by name. Whether or not this person was involved in Mercy’s disappearance is still unknown.
Later in November 10th of 2015 she disappeared. McGee and other relatives tried to find her, but there were zero clues.
The police failed to do anything meaningful, locate the Facebook message author, and only started to make public statements months after the disappearance.
Hogwarts Legacy is free (again) on Epic Store. For me the game is both a great theme park and a horrible Hogwarts experience:
- You're in school, but classes are very brief and limited. The whole experience of Persona series, Bully, etc. is ignored.
- Barely any friendship with just a few real characters. For 90% of the time you're alone or hang out with teachers.
- Nothing is even remotely believable (even by Harry Potter standards). It's literally a theme park.
You kill 5000+ humans and goblins proudly shifting the blame to another character. Even without unforgivable spells, the hero is a damn maniac.

How curious: Microsoft is losing money on nearly everything. Numbers in () are negative values.
Xbox lost 7% of revenue, content and services by 5%, and Xbox devices sales plummeted by 33%. The department is in decline for years in a row. The only 3% boost was back in 2023.

What time is it? It's damage control time: PlayStation are now trying to explain that they were not understood correctly. Yes, it's your fault 😎
The new "30 days" system was created to prevent "refund and go offline" scams, not to make every user suffer.
PlayStation will not ask players to go online every 30 days and yes, their own descriptions were misleading in that case. If the game gets through online confirmation once, it will work offline (if this state is even supported by the game itself).

If you missed it, I'm a huge fan of the original Greedfall. A unique old-fashioned RPG with immersive story, solid characters, clunky combat, and a lot of backtracking.
And it was done on much smaller budget than Expedition 33, for example.

Blender halted AI sponsorships from Anthropic and Meshy AI. The one from Anthropic was shifted into one-time donation that already occurred.
The company did not expect (how?) such a negative feedback, several contributors were ready to leave, and hundreds of strong individual donators were pulling the funds out.
The majority of the artists supported the stance and some already donated into the fund.
Andrew Price is already crying about it 😅 (I'm not even kidding)

Once I trusted Bleakmill Games and their first game Industria was a piece of shit. I followed their socials for ages, the 3D artist did a good job on certain models and environments.
But the game itself was 3 hours of shame. People told me that the sequel will definitely be better, they will learn from their mistakes. Hell no! 😅
Industria 2 is buggy, poorly optimized, barely playable, and right away boring asset mashing. And the best reviews are from 5090 owners, not even kidding.

Just tried RiME again and was surprised that the performance is abysmal. It isn't even reaching 100 FPS, consumes 100% of RTX 5070, and looks worse than modern mobile games.
It was supposed to be a cozy empty world with puzzles (which I like in some way), but it's just crappy kind of empty world + the performance is a joke. Can't recommend!

The more you know: Gabe wants to be effectively immortal (which was reported earlier and joked about in their own Aperture Science lab demo game for Deck). But he was also in touch with OpenAI and Musk to progress with his ideas faster...

Just started Pillars of the Earth game (by the folks who made Deponia and State of Mind). I still remember how we watched the TV adaptation with my then wife and it was oddly violent and nasty long before Game of Thrones.
Welp, the game is exactly this... it painfully follows the book and the TV show. No idea what I expected but somehow not this. Also, it's ridiculously expensive (the production value — tons of detailed arts, animated scenes, vooce overs everywhere). The 2D quest that weighs 22GB+
Daedalic are also owned by Nacon and will definitely be the next after Spiders to get liquidated. After the failure of Gollum this outcome was probably sealed.

EA just announced a very expensive... early access / pre-purchase of premium battle-pass for the S3 of Battlefield 6. WHAT?
Can I kindly remind you that the game is bleeding players, it's simply not working in any way, and now you can PAY $25 (or Eur) for early premium access to the battle pass. How is it a solution to anything?

Nacon publishing house was unable to find anyone who can quickly acquire studio Spiders. It was placed on sale a month ago.
Now the company behind Technomancer, Greedfall, Bound by Flame, Of Orcs and Men, and Steelrising, is going to be fully closed. The DLCs are now going to be completed and released by Nacon themselves (no, apparently, they will not due to lack of funding).
Spiders existed for over 18 years and was making soulful AA RPGs. If you missed their games completely, they were similar to Piranha Bytes but from France.

Sadly, Blender just signed up with Anthropic (claude). The sponsorship got such a bad feedback that Blender updated the article with special "listening to your feedback" statement.
