Pet DayΒ is a chance for those of us who own pets to show them how much we love them. Now, we all can think of the traditional things: a new toy, some tasty treats, or a long walk in the park, maybe a game of fetch, assuming you have a dog! But, think outside the box and come up with some ideas to celebrate your relationship with your pet. Once you have indulged your own animals with their favourite treats, why not consider donating to a shelter or or other animal welfare organization?
There are so many neglected and unwanted animals waiting for some love and attention. You can donate your time, or you can donate food or other supplies. Every little bit helps. If you donβt already own a pet, what better time to adopt one? A good phrase to keep in mind is β

After learning this method, you will know how to make someone show you a side of them that makes them feel super close to you. Your people will finally feel free to open up and they will love it. The βPβ is for permission, but this account isnβt about tactics, we go deeper.
When we were children and wanted to do anything, what did we do? We asked our parents. Our childhood was all about permission and having a guiding hand for everything we wanted and needed.
This sounds so simple but is such a deep understanding of people in your life. Give people the permission they donβt know they have. Let them know you would love to know more, and let them know you arenβt here to judge them, youβre here to listen and deeply understand who they are.
The permission doesnβt work without this next step. You need to become the kind of person where itβs real. Understand yourself and notice your habits, like talking over people, not letting them finish, judging them silently, and attaching a part of them to your perception of their entire image.
This is the huge part. Even once you get past permission, most people are afraid of being perceived a certain way. They donβt want a small part of them to be their entire story in your eyes. This is where you let this be known. βIβm here to understand youβ is the idea.
The Permission method isnβt about being soft and overly kind, it means allowing someone to put down their walls because you show them you are a safe space to do so.
Iβll leave you with a few practical takeaways:
1. when you want to know someone deeper, invite them to share more. βI know you, but I would love to know more about your story.β Then use really good questions for a really good conversation. (our card game does this)
2. when you want to know whatβs wrong with someone, donβt push them to open up. Invite them to, and make it feel like a choice because it is. βI want to know whatβs wrong, and Iβm here to listen, but if you want to wait for another time thatβs okay too.β
We can give the permission our inner child craves. Notice how this wasnβt a list of tactics and phrases, but a deeper understanding of building a connection.
