President Joseph Aoun said all weapons in Lebanon will come under state control through dialogue with Hezbollah. He emphasized avoiding civil war and suggested integrating Hezbollah members into the army.
Hezbollah rejected the plan, with senior official Mahmoud Qamati warning, “Any hand that reaches out to take them will be cut off.”
Aoun also urged the U.S. to pressure Israel instead, citing unresolved border disputes as Hezbollah’s excuse to stay armed.

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) said Friday it would not address Spain’s request to debate Israel’s participation in Eurovision due to the war with Hamas.
While the EBU acknowledged concerns about the conflict, it reaffirmed that all member broadcasters, including Israel’s Kan, are eligible to compete.
Spain’s RTVE had urged the EBU to create space for discussion following pressure from civil society groups over Israel’s inclusion.
Israel will be represented by Yuval Raphael, a survivor of the Oct. 7 Nova Festival massacre, at this year’s contest in Basel, Switzerland.

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and French President Emmanuel Macron spoke on Tuesday following heightened tensions over France’s suggestion that it may recognize a Palestinian state by June.
On Saturday, Macron posted on X that France supports a “Palestinian state without Hamas.” In response, Prime Minister Netanyahu’s son, Yair Netanyahu, replied with a post saying, “screw you.”
During the call, Netanyahu stated that a Palestinian state would be a “huge prize for terror.”
“The prime minister told the French president that a Palestinian state established just minutes from Israeli cities would become a stronghold for Iranian terror, and that a large majority of the Israeli public firmly opposes this—reflecting his consistent and long-standing policy,” the Prime Minister’s Office said.
President Trump has frozen $2.2 billion in federal grants to Harvard after the university rejected a list of White House demands aimed at fighting antisemitism on campus. The proposed changes included government oversight of hiring, admissions, and disciplinary actions during protests.
Harvard called the demands unconstitutional and a threat to academic freedom. The Education Department responded, calling Harvard’s refusal part of a “troubling entitlement mindset.”
Harvard is now facing lawsuits and political pressure, while other universities like Columbia have complied with similar demands to avoid losing funding.
President Trump has issued a fresh threat of military action against Iran if it doesn’t abandon its nuclear ambitions, saying he’s ready to take “very harsh” steps to prevent Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon. “It’s really simple — they can’t have one,” he told reporters in the Oval Office, calling Iran “fairly close” to the bomb and vowing, “I will solve the Iran problem.”
His comments come just days after high-level US-Iran talks in Oman, described as “constructive” by both sides. A follow-up round is scheduled this weekend in Rome. Trump also said Israel would take the lead in any potential strike, warning that Tehran is “tapping us along” and hinting at a swift US decision if diplomacy fails.

Two days after Israeli-Turkish talks in Azerbaijan, Turkish President Erdogan renewed harsh criticism of Israel. Speaking at a conference in Antalya, he called Israel a “terror state,” accused it of destabilizing Syria and Lebanon, and condemned a reported strike in Gaza that killed civilians.
Erdogan said: “No one has the right to call the Palestinians terrorists, and their struggle cannot be insulted by labelling them as terrorists,”
He warned that those harming Syria would “pay the price” and declared Syria’s security a Turkish priority.

A U.S. immigration judge ruled that Columbia University graduate Mahmoud Khalil can be deported as a national security risk due to his role in pro-Palestinian protests. The judge said his presence poses “serious foreign policy consequences” and that the government proved he is removable.
Khalil’s lawyer said they will appeal the decision soon, noting that no deportation will happen immediately.
In court, Khalil criticized the process, saying it lacked due process and fairness, and accused the Trump administration of targeting him for his activism.
Hashem Abedi, brother of the Manchester Arena suicide bomber, Salman Abedi, seriously injured three prison officers in a violent assault at HMP Frankland. Serving 55 years for helping plan the 2017 terror attack that killed 22 people at the Ariana Grande concert, Abedi threw boiling cooking oil at officers before stabbing them with improvised weapons.
The attack took place in a specialist unit for extremist inmates, where Abedi is one of the few held due to the severity of his crimes. The Prison Officers’ Association called the incident “cowardly and vicious,” warning that prisoners like Abedi remain dangerous and ideologically radicalized.
The Justice Secretary condemned the assault, promising the “strongest possible punishment.” The event has sparked renewed calls to limit privileges—like access to cooking equipment—for high-risk inmates and rethink how extremist prisoners are managed. Police have launched an investigation.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Archewell Foundation has cut funding to the Milwaukee Muslim Women’s Coalition after its founder, Janan Najeeb, called Israel an “apartheid state” and used the controversial slogan “from the river to the sea” in a 2023 blog post.
The foundation, which had donated over $27,000 to the group, said the remarks go against its values. In a letter, Archewell executives stated they “have zero tolerance for hateful words, actions, or propaganda” and would end the partnership immediately.
The Muslim Women’s Coalition, which works to empower Muslim women in the U.S., had received donations from Archewell in both 2023 and 2024. The foundation said it remains committed to supporting Afghan women and local communities, but only through partnerships that align with its mission.
Israel is waiting on Hamas’s response to the latest ceasefire and hostage deal proposal. Talks in Cairo involve the US, Egypt, and Qatar.
The plan includes Hamas giving up weapons under Egypt’s supervision and releasing at least 8-10 hostages, including US-Israeli Edan Alexander. In return, Israel would pause fighting, allow aid into Gaza, and start talks on a long-term truce. The deal could move forward before mid-May. But Netanyahu is under pressure from his coalition not to end the war until Hamas is dismantled.
National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir vows to fight Israel’s decision to resume aid to Gaza, calling it a “historic mistake.”
He says, “As long as our hostages are dying in the tunnels, there is no reason for a gram of food or aid to enter Gaza,” urging Netanyahu and Katz to cancel the move.

Simon Deng, once enslaved in Sudan, is now a passionate advocate for Israel and the release of the hostages held by Hamas.
Kidnapped at age 9 and forced into slavery for nearly three years, Deng draws powerful parallels between his experience and the suffering of those abducted on October 7.
He has spoken at every Central Park rally for the hostages and plans to eat matzah this Passover in solidarity with Israel. “We are in it together,” he says.
Now a U.S. citizen and human rights activist, Deng uses his freedom to fight for others. Despite criticism, especially from within the Black community, he proudly stands with Israel — a country he credits with supporting Sudanese victims of genocide.
This October, he will lead a “Walk for Humanity” in Washington, DC, continuing his call for justice: “If you don’t stand up to it, evil wins.”
Iran says upcoming nuclear talks with the U.S. will stay “indirect” and only focus on sanctions and its nuclear program. The two sides met separately in Oman over the weekend, marking their highest-level nuclear contact in years.
Asked about the talks, Trump said: “I think they’re going OK,” but added, “nothing matters until you get it done.”
A man named Cody Balmer (last photo) set fire to Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro’s mansion just hours after he hosted a Passover Seder with his family and members of the Jewish community.
Police say the suspect, Cody Balmer, scaled a 7-foot fence, snuck past security, and used a homemade incendiary device to ignite the fire in the same room where the Seder was held. The blaze caused significant damage, but no one was hurt.
Shapiro, who has been outspoken about his Jewish faith, said: “If he was trying to terrorize our family, our friends, the Jewish community, who joined us for a Passover Seder in that room last night, hear me on this: we celebrated our faith last night, proudly and in a few hours, we will celebrate our second Seder of Passover. No one will deter me or my family, or any Pennsylvanian from celebrating their faith openly and proudly.”
Balmer is facing charges of attempted murder, terrorism, aggravated arson, and assault.
Israel Helps Bring Mexican Rescue Team to Dominican Republic Nightclub Collapse Site
In response to the tragic collapse of the Jet Set nightclub in the Dominican Republic on April 8, Israel, through its embassy and the local Jewish community, helped coordinate the arrival of a specialized Mexican rescue team.
Five rescuers and two psychologists from the humanitarian organization Cadena Internacional arrived Wednesday to support over 300 workers already on site. Cadena, founded by Mexico’s Jewish community, is known for rapid disaster response worldwide. The team is trained in collapsed structure search and rescue and is currently clearing debris inside the nightclub to aid recovery efforts.
Israeli Ambassador Raslan Abu Rukun played a key role in coordinating the mission, underscoring Israel’s commitment to international humanitarian aid.
