The price reduction for diesel not intended for road transport (GNR) will be even more significant and will reach 20 cents per liter. This type of fuel is used, in particular, in agricultural machinery.
The head of the company commented on the price reduction range announced by the prime minister. According to the prime minister's estimate, the use of 10 million barrels from strategic reserves was supposed to lead to a price reduction of 12–18 cents. "In our case, it's more like 8–12 cents, that is, about ten cents," said Patrick Pouyanné. He added that the reduction would be "20 euro cents per liter for diesel not intended for road transport (GNR), which is used by farmers, construction companies, and fishermen." In addition, the company will maintain a maximum price cap of 2.25 euros for private consumers.
"This diesel was purchased before the sharp price spike," explained Sébastien Lecornu last week. "It will be sold at cost, which will automatically lower prices at gas stations." "I understand that in public discussions there are calls for general support measures or tax cuts," he added. However, referring to the state of the national budget, the minister emphasized: "We cannot provide such assistance again."
As for domestic heating oil (also belonging to the distillates category), its price is expected to fall by about "200 euros per cubic meter" from November 1. According to the head of the company, the cost of this type of fuel had previously risen from 1,200 to 1,900 euros per cubic meter.
