According to reports, Russian military personnel are using underground pipes to secretly travel kilometers, reach behind enemy lines, and launch drones from there.
These are reportedly old Soviet-era pipes. Initially, Ukrainian forces tried to target the pipe exits with artillery and aircraft, but this proved ineffective, and as a result, some of the fighting has shifted into the pipes themselves (!!).
Inside the pipes, which are approximately 1.2 meters in diameter, Russian troops have reportedly set up machine gun positions, barricades made of sandbags, and even living quarters.
At the end of the article in the WSJ, a brilliant observation is made: the Russian Armed Forces are reportedly already preparing special units for underground warfare.

“My latest model is this: we do not strike Russian diesel production, and you provide us with missiles for the Patriot systems to protect our facilities,” he said.
However, according to Zelensky, Washington wants Ukraine to halt the strikes without offering anything in return, and he warned that if the attacks continue, the US may “cut us off from something” ahead of the November 3 midterm elections.
