Many new features and useful optimizations have been added in recent months. Here is a brief overview of what's been happening in Web A since August.
September – November
✏️ General
• Reply Revolution – the app learned to quote specific parts of any message, making your responses 100% precise.
• Also, Quote Formatting have arrived.
📣 Channels
• Channels added boosts and giveaways.
• Users also got an option to reassign their boosts between channels.
🌄 Stories
• Numerous improvements have been made to the animations flow, ensuring the stories bar expands more smoothly. Additionally, a package of optimizations has been added to enhance the performance of stories on mobile devices.
• Stories have been introduced for channels, and the story viewer has been updated with new gestures to expand and reply.
⚙️ Settings
• The app has added an option, 'Who can find me by phone number,' along with a setting under 'Privacy and Security' to manage the visibility of your bio.
✨ Extra
• Some further improvements have been made to the Mini Apps area.
• New security notifications have been added to the chat list to alert you when your account is logged into from a new device.
• New design for code blocks formatting.
December – February
✏️ General
• Saved Messages 2.0 – including tags, My Notes, Replies and forwards from hidden authors.
• One-Time Voice Messages including both listening and recording. Added support for viewing One-Time Video Messages.
• Read-Time in Private Chats
• You can now replace media when editing messages.
• The app learned to preserve the selected mode for topics in groups.
• Whenever you create a small group, Web A suggests a name for it based on users' name you have added.

• Implemented channel stories stats.
• Channel emoji statuses.

👥 Groups
• 9 new features for groups.
🤖 Bots
• Edit your bots info right from their profile.

Stories for Groups and 8 More Features.
Telegram brings conversation in groups to an entire new level with 9 new features that redefine many-to-many communication. Now, groups can publish stories and save them as posts on their profile pages. Groups can set unique wallpapers and statuses, as well as customize their appearance down to the finest details, including the color and logo of the group’s profile cover or link style. All these features are already available and may be unlocked by group members who can boost their favorite chats. Such boosted groups can now also offer Voice-to-Text conversion and premium Custom Emoji to their members.

Reactions
• Introducing full reaction support for bots.
• Bots can now react to messages with setMessageReaction.
• Message reactions now generate updates for bots.
• Added the available_reactions field to the class Chat.
Replies 2.0
• Bots can now reply to messages in other chats or topics.
• Added the ExternalReplyInfo class, to track replies across chats.
• The new class ReplyParameters replaces individual reply options in all relevant methods and lets bots quote parts of any message.
• The new field quote of the class Message lets bots detect incoming quoted text.
Link Preview Customization
• Bots can now set a custom URL to generate link previews in outgoing messages.
• Added support for custom size and position of link previews.
• Added the class LinkPreviewOptions to support these new options.
Batch Actions
• Bots can now delete multiple messages in a single request via deleteMessages.
• Bots can now forward or copy multiple messages in a single request via the respective forwardMessages and copyMessages methods.
Boosts & Giveaways
• Added support for Giveaway messages, allowing bots to detect their creation and completion.
• Added updates about chat boost changes via the new classes ChatBoostUpdated and ChatBoostRemoved.
• Bots can now see if a boost came from a premium sub, a gift code, or a giveaway, as well as check all active user boosts via getUserChatBoosts.
General
• Blockquotes are now supported in MarkdownV2 and HTML parse modes.
• Web Apps won't close when calling openTelegramLink.
• Web Apps can now toggle the visibility and on-click behavior of the Settings Button.
• Bots can now request multiple users, see KeyboardButtonRequestUsers.
• The class Chat has new fields holding profile and background colors, custom emoji, and more.

🥳 Today Telegram turns 10 years old.
In just a decade, Telegram gained over 800 million active users purely thanks to word of mouth. Through numerous updates and improvements over the years, Telegram has redefined what a modern messaging experience should be like.
The next step for Telegram is to go beyond messaging and spearhead innovation in social media in general. We should use our popularity to change the lives of billions for better, to inspire and uplift people on our planet.
Today’s gradual roll-out of stories for all users marks the beginning of this new stage in the history of Telegram. While this past decade was exciting, the next 10 years will be the time when Telegram reaches its true potential. 🥳
For years, our users have been asking us to implement Stories in Telegram. More than half of all feature requests that we receive are related to Stories.
Initially, we were against this since Stories are already everywhere. However, Telegram wouldn't be Telegram if we didn't listen to our users and didn't innovate on existing formats.
So we will be launching Stories soon – in the Telegram way:
- Privacy. You will be able to define who can see each of your stories with granular precision: Everyone, only your contacts (with exceptions), a few selected contacts, or a list of Close Friends.
- Compact UI. Stories will be placed in an expandable section at the top of your chat list, which makes them easily accessible without taking away valuable space.
- Flexibility. It will be easy to hide Stories posted by any contact, moving them to the 'Hidden' list in your Contacts section instead of the main screen.
- Captions. In addition to making use of dozens of powerful photo and video-editing tools, you will be able to provide captions for your stories to add more context or links and tag other people.
- Dual Camera Support. Building on the success of Telegram's Video Messages, we're adding the option to post photos and videos taken by the front and the rear cameras simultaneously.
- Optional Ephemerality. You'll be able to choose when a story expires – in 6, 12, 24, or 48 hours – or permanently display stories on your profile page, with individual privacy settings for each.
- More suprises! 🤩
The ability to save your stories to the profile page will make Telegram profiles more informative and colorful. You will not only be able to explore more content from your closest contacts, but finally discover more information about users you connect with in groups or channel comments.
Speaking of channels, they will benefit from more exposure and subscribers: once we launch the ability to repost messages from channels to stories, going viral on Telegram will become a lot easier.
Overall, following our internal tests of Stories, even the skeptics on our team started to appreciate this feature. We can no longer imagine Telegram without it.
Stories are in their last testing phase and will become available in early July. This will herald a new era on Telegram, where it will become even more fun and social than it currently is.

😝 Next month, channel owners on Telegram can start receiving financial rewards from their work.
Broadcast channels on Telegram generate 1 trillion views monthly. Currently, only 10% of these views are monetized with Telegram Ads — a promotion tool designed with privacy in mind.
In March, the Telegram Ad Platform will officially open to all advertisers in nearly a hundred new countries. Channel owners in these countries will start receiving 50% of any revenue that Telegram makes from displaying ads in their channels.
To ensure ad payments and withdrawals are fast and secure, we will exclusively use the TON blockchain. Similar to our approach with Telegram usernames on Fragment, we will sell ads and share revenue with channel owners in Toncoin. This will create a virtuous circle, in which content creators will be able to either cash out their Toncoins — or reinvest them in promoting and upgrading their channels 🤑
