🔰 Imam Khamenei, the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, has reappointed three jurist members to the Guardian Council for another term
🔹In response to a letter from Ayatollah Jannati, the Secretary of the Guardian Council, which noted the upcoming expiration of the membership terms for Hujjat al-Islam Sayyid Ahmad Khatami, Hujjat al-Islam Sheikh Alireza A'rafi, and Haj Sayyid Ahmad Hosseini Khorasani on July 16, the Leader wrote:
“I send my greetings and regards, and I hereby reappoint the aforementioned honorable gentlemen to serve again as jurist members of the Guardian Council.”
🔸The Guardian Council is a 12-member body tasked with vetting legislation and election candidates. According to Article 91 of the Constitution, six jurist members of the Guardian Council are appointed by the Leader of the Islamic Revolution. Article 110 also grants the Leader the authority to appoint and dismiss these jurists. The other six members of the Guardian Council, who are legal experts, are selected by the Iranian Parliament from nominees introduced by the Head of the Judiciary.
