I finally went to the dentist after 9 years!

The last time I went to the dentist was in 2017 I believe. I generally have anxiety about going for cleanings since most of my childhood growing up, I had dentists always tell me I had cavities and needed fillings. I also had like a few years with braces which made them remove 4 of my teeth cause I had too much (overcrowding).

I also have depression which makes me have bad hygiene like just brushing once a day (since I would forget to brush at night or I’m too tired) or not flossing for example. I’ve only recently flossed like 1-2x a week since last year and tried to not forget to brush at night. I also made an appointment to go get a dental cleaning and checkup (since last year) at a place where they’re highly rated for people w/ anxiety.

I just had my x-rays taken and cleaning done after 9 years and most of my teeth are okay. I did find out I have 4!!!! wisdom teeth in total (I literally thought I only had 2 or 3 max) and that they need to be taken out anyways. All in all, my experience at the new dentist was very kind and reassuring since they knew about my anxiety. 💗

One negative thought leads to another. If you do nothing, they become your negative mood. When you have a constant negative mood, it becomes part of your personality. A negative personality creates a negative life.

You need to find the exit from the labyrinth of negative thoughts.

Negative thoughts can cause so many troubles. We need to learn how to deal with them to find the exit from the labyrinth of negative thoughts.

Challenge Your Thoughts\- Examine your thoughts, don’t accept them without that.
Is Everything Negative?\- Always try to see if it is your perception of reality or true reality.
Don’t Hide Anything Unwanted In Fog- Face any negative thoughts, don’t hide them.
Share Your Thoughts\- Ask for help when you have negative thoughts; people can help you.
Don’t Be Stuck In Your Mind\- Do something, be active, and be around other people.
Journaling\- This will give you clarity and a better perspective of your negative thoughts.
Overthinking Trap\- Don’t overthink; you will be more stuck in your negative thoughts.
Relaxation\- Do the things that will relax you. Sleeping, walking, reading, writing, etc.
Positive People\- Be around people who will support you and love you.
Update Mindset\- Work daily on the improvement of your mindset.

I quit p*rn, caffeine, junk food, doomscrolling, and going out every weekend all at once about seven months ago.

Today is day 215 of me quitting all that stuff. It sounds crazy to me even now as I do remember how good that cup of coffee felt or how fun it was on those weekends, but to be honest I would never get those habits back.

I actually made a post here on my day 93 but a lot of stuff changed, so this post is kinda an update with more and better advice.

How my life changed over the last 7mo

Before, I talked about how quiet my head got. but after a few more months, that quietness turned into actual drive. I was feeling so... motivated? I know motivation isn't the thing that will get you from A to B, but this motivation is different. it feels like a superpower because I wasn't just motivated on the first few days, it still drives me even now.

I'm going to the gym 4 times per week for the third month now! I'm reading my bible everyday, and my boss said that I was never this productive before. And I can actually feel it: i just sit and focus on my work whenever I want to.

I think that drive is what we call momentum. And the further I go, the more momentum I feel.

The first month felt cool, but it is really not what you should be waiting for. If you quit those bad habits, all the other good things in your life will start compounding over time.


How I am maintaining it

I want to be honest, it's not that easy, but it's actually real. I still feel like sh!t some days and I still want to quit sometimes. But when i remember how my life felt before, I just decide to keep it up for “just today.”

Thinking about years or even months ahead is still too heavy for me. Focusing on today is the best because it is just small steps, and the compound effect does the rest.

I also still lean heavily on my faith. as a christian, knowing I don't have to be perfect and that i'm forgiven just to be a child of God takes all the pressure off. If you have a bad day or feel massive cravings, don't beat yourself up.

Idk If can mention the apps but near month 3 of this whole process, I also started using tools. I use OneSec to keep my phone blocked from social media, and Рurроsа аpp to be more focused on my goals and habits.

Advice

If you feel stuck in your addictions, it's not hopeless. Don't try to change your whole life forever. Focus on today, keep things simple, and don't run away from yourself.

They don’t know who they are, who they want to be, what they want to do with their lives. They are lost and confused.

Life is too short to be wasted; live the best life you can live or die trying.

You Didn’t Take Control Over Your Life\- Without it, you will waste your life.
You Don’t Know Who You Are\- This is the essential reason why people waste their lives.
You Don’t Know Who You Want To Be- Without it, it is difficult to organize your life.
You Don’t Have A Purpose\- Most people who waste their lives don’t have a purpose.
You Don’t Invest Your Time\- You spend your time on trivial and unimportant things.
You Think You Have Enough Time\- Unfortunately, we find out too late that we don’t have it.
Fears, Doubts, Insecurities, ETC.- All these prevent you from starting to live your life.
Resistance To Change\- You are terrified of change, but you need to learn how to do it.
Inconsistency\- You don’t have the right direction; you are inconsistent in life.
Uncertainty\- If you can’t tolerate uncertainty, you will live in just known patterns of life.
