You'll have to wait until the half end of January, 2026 when a new version of the Ardor wallet will be released, which will include NXT as a Child Chain there. Then you can use Ardor's Coin Exchange to switch between NXT<>ARDOR /channel/NxtCommunity/303306

Nxt and Ardor are different blockchain platforms. Both are developed by the same team of developers. They share many functionalities, e.g. using the same 100% PoS algorithm - after all, Ardor evolved from Nxt- but they also have some differences - been the main one the parent chain/child chain architecture (Ardor) vs the single chain architecture (Nxt). Ignis is the first Childchain on Ardor, but there are other childchains such as BITS.

To announce your public key, you need to make an outgoing transaction. And to do so you can just send yourself 1NXT - just put your own account number as the destination account when making the transaction
