I seek "Your"attention
I have become a burden to everyone who has ever loved me. It is sad that I cannot do anything about it. I am useless, careless. I try to do something good and always end up putting myself into bad situations. I am tired of this pathetic state. I know what you are going to say, it is not my fault, but we both know running away from the truth only brings you back to it. You just have to live with it.
Things stack up. You make a decision, ignore a few things, and suddenly they pile up, coming back to eat you alive. Life will not change unless I change it. Habits will not go unless I let them. It has been one and a half years, and behind those carefully put-up smiles and laughs, I know what I have been through and what I made others go through. Not everything is as simple as taking a few pills and getting well, where a cigarette is cheaper than medicine. But let us not go blaming the government.
All I am trying to say is that it is about accountability. Things need to change, and I will change them for good. I will not chase glory anymore, no fame, no attention, nothing. It is time to isolate. It is selfish, I understand, but I am not here to be a saint, and neither are you. We have a responsibility. As I am writing this, I have reached a state of mind where silence feels deafening, pain is growing worse, fever never leaves the room, and the coughing never stops. It was not just the TB, it cost me my mental health, my physical health, my stable-looking life, my job, a lot of money, and most importantly, it made me once again a burden.
I never felt this empty, and this emptiness never fails to surprise me. No matter how much I feed it, it never feels satisfied. I am getting by with what I have. Maybe it is time for you to start running as well. I will see you on the other side of the line. Before I leave, I would say one thing: always tell people you are fine. Never tell them you are not. Some people are seasonal, they are not worth it. Keep your struggles to yourself, it is fine. Even this paragraph will be read by only a few, and that is exactly what I want.
Anyway, in the end, Shrijeet was just a name. You were just a person. And we are just humans in a world that has grown unkind. I hope you will not lose yourself in the void.
