The role of the name
In traditional Pagan worldview a name is not a mere combination of sounds and characters. It’s not something you grow into, it’s what you are. In a name is one’s destiny and while you can try to argue that a name is chosen by the parents, the truth is that in a worldview where fate exists and can’t be changed even by the Gods your parents were destined to give you that name. What about people who change their names later in life or get an additional one? Again, if something like this happens it has always been inevitable. If you bear a foreign name don’t worry. Throw it away and embrace your destiny.
Over the past year, our Persian Connection podcast has made waves in the sphere; the culmination of years of research discovering the who, why & how of Axiality.
Still some reject the Theory, mainly due to bias. While looking for clips for an upcoming project, I stumbled upon a gem from 40-years-ago, from Zoroastrians stating literally the same thing; albeit positivly from their point of view.
Even Zoroastrians recognize the reality of the Persian Connection Theory. So the naysayers are either ignorant of history, or deliberately being misleading, to protect that which destroyed ancestral faiths.

In this modern age, one thing that seems most clear, and something all people seem to grasp, is that there is a great sickness that spreads across men's hearts and the land in this age.
Reflection during thought often leads to what end or solution can be found, so that, once again, our folk can lean into and hold each other up instead of this endless clammering like crabs in a bucket, individually each able to crawl out....... Yet one by one crawling over each other, holding one another down while those who enthralled us keep us and hold us in their fetters and binds.
I look around and within and see the aspect of this trap all too clear. We make progress in the traditions and rituals of our forebears, reawakening who we are and remembering our strength. Yet our egos and image of self holds us blinded to the true purpose of it all.
We are not to live in the past! We are to live now! To reclaim who we are, how we think, and become who we were meant to be instead of these broken and poisoned versions that men cling to.
The cure is as complex as it is simple, to humble ourselves in the presence of our mighty Gods. We must stop seeking for self and start searching for true connection.
In an age where everyone is an expert and all claim the way, I look back.... Grandmothers of my grandmothers, I hear your songs and heed your words in our sagas.
Grandfathers of my grandfathers, your rituals and advice guide me. For in this time of tyrants and degeneracy, I AM THE VOICE OF MY DEAD ANCESTORS! AND I SING THEIR SONGS!
In trance, and in battle frenzy, and in peace, endless is our connection, and together we march forward to bring our kinsman home!
Humbled but unbroken.
Stronger than ever, yet aware of the cost. I look over the horizon at the endless fratricidal conflicts and divides that ripple across our religious community and Folk as a whole.
And I seek the wisdom and patience to do more than win glory from battle alone.....
I yearn for so much more! I yearn for true unity and communities built on frith and love.
Recently, one of my cousins was tracing family lines and his traced back to Redbad and to the legendary Volsungasaga so this morning I re read those stories.......
Whether it be distant ties or my own direct link to these sagas and heroes, it sits heavy with me as I reflect inward and contemplate if this is why my nature is to throw the spear!? And have I not yet learned to heed their examples?

Tacticus basically describes German warriors as quick to the fray and battle yet also capable of great love and devotion. Great thinkers who wear their hearts on the sleeve. Our emotions are our strength, not our weakness, kinsman. Raw passion, yet only if we can let this fire light our way and not consume us!
In this year, as our victories come seemingly easier by the day, I will spend a great effort on true unification both in our Folk Nation and beyond our walls. Not all threads can be mended, yet not all broken ties need be eternal enemies, and ultimately the Gods will guide us all. If none worthy see things this way, we march on regardless, and through any who stands in our way!
Yet what a sight to see, as men's personal petty squabbles and disagreements settled in the Old Ways, and for our overall communities to be led by leaders who have the Folk’s interests at heart, and not our own egos.
The age of atonement and reconnecting to our Gods is upon us!

Why I am a Revivalist?
Before I answer this question, I am going to examine & critique the other two first.
New-Age Heathenry isn't necessarily new. Today, you will find self-proclaimed Heathens mixing Germanic Heathenry with any number of foreign or new concepts. It's modern iteration began in the early years of revival, when there wasn't as much information on what Heathenry was. Because they did not know what it was, its identity became vague, then permiable. As it became permiable, it absorbed ideas from everywhere to the point where most dont care what the sources define Heathenry as. They will do whatever they want to do, solely because of how they feel as opposed to what actually is. Without a defined identity, Heathenry becomes whatever you want it to be, and therefore does not keep it's shape, and rather takes on what primarily fills in the gaps. Some people will use neoplatonism, but swap the Greek names for Germanic ones; but what that becomes is neoplatonism wearing the mask of, or larping as, Heathenry. Though it's modern iteration can base itself out of the mid-20th century, this mentality is actually quite ancient. When the Germanic tribe of the Franks conquered christian-occupied Roman Gaul, they incorporated jesus worship into their system for political expediency. This olive-branch of syncretism allowed for the foreign christianity to fester and eventually destroy all Heathenry. The morale is that syncretism leads to the death of those which engage in it by not protecting one's identity & borders.
Reconstructionists appear at first glance to solve the issues with the New-Agers. There needs to be a core identity. That identity must necessitate borders. The identity & the borders are dictated by the sources. However, because we don't have a full picture of what exactly, down to minute details, what it was, there are some gaps. This isn't as big of a problem as some make it out to be. In these gaps very little to no exploration is allowed, lest Heathenry becomes like the New-Agers, allowing Heathenry to become something it was not. This, on it's face, seems to be more of a reactionary response to the New-Agers, as opposed to just sticking with the sources. The reason being is some (not all) Recons will 'fill the gaps' with 'what Heathenry was before Heathenry.' Inso doing, becoming exactly what they avoid to be, by adding-in other foreign elements exactly like the New-Agers. The other path Recons take is to leave the gaps as gaps until more information comes their way via archeology. What remains is true to what Heathenry was, but quasi-incomplete; which, as stated previously, has the danger of becoming New-Age itself despite it's 'foundational safeguards.'
So why Revivalism? Historically, ancestral faiths were living traditions. I often think of Grimnismal, where Odin visits the king of the Goths in disguise. Before this event occurred, this was not a recorded legend. It was a specific legend, with a specific time & location. This is not New-Age, as it recognizes Gods continue to interact with us, whilst also not contradicting what Odin has done in the past. If it did change the essence of Odin, it wouldn't be authentically Heathen. I think of the PROSE Edda, which does change the nature of the Gods in certain places. These changes are known to not be authentic, thus using Grimnismal and the Prose Edda, we can define what is and what is not authentically Heathen whilst not being entirely closed-off or flash-frozen in the Viking Era.
A tree does not grow to its full potential if it remains inside of a pot. Likewise, as we Revive, we should allow the tree of our faith to grow naturally. We should have room to explore; but within reason, as to not become something we are not. This is why I chose Revivalism, hence the name of this channel. That, in my estimation, is why Revivalism is not just how our faiths operated in antiquity, it is not just the most practical path today, but in my opinion is Inevitable.
In relation to the grand scope of revival, we see the decline of christianization & looking to the past, similar to the Renaissance, where many folk began to turn away from the church as the sole authority, instead looked to the pre-christian. The rebirth of Europa was budding at this time. Art, culture, architecture, exploration, innovation exploded during this time. They rediscovered Paganism at long last. So why didn't our great Pagan Revival happen then?
They encountered the philosophy of late antiquity, speaking of Logos & God in the singular, they uncovered philosophers denigrating the old religion & customs; what they discovered is what we call, the Axial-age. This halted Pagan Revival in the early-modern era allowing christendom to recover.
Today we see the path forward. The older generations are using the stepping stones used to go into christianity, to go out of christianity. They are not the final destination of our Revival but are part of the Gods grand design out of the darkness of axiality.
Recovery as Reverence
The Northern Way is strength and severity, but it is also remembrance. We stand because others stood before us. We breathe because a long line endured hardship, famine, war, loss, and uncertainty, yet still carried life forward.
Óðinn sought wisdom for preservation for the worlds, for himself, and for what would come after. The Gods and Goddesses in the Northern Tradition are beings who struggle, sacrifice, strive, and protect. They are not figures of careless excess. When we give ourselves over to overindulgence, we harm not only our body and mind, we step away from the gift we were given. The strength in our bones, the breath in our lungs, the mind capable of learning and devotion; all these are inheritances. They are the living continuation of those who survived before us. Recovery becomes an act of gratitude from this perspective. To reclaim clarity from addiction or excess is to say, "I value what was handed to me. I will not waste it. I will stand steady so that those who come after me inherit strength rather than fracture".
Honoring our ancestors is ritual and remembrance, to be sure, but it is also conduct. It is living in a way that would not shame the endurance that produced us. Likewise, honoring the Gods and Goddesses is offerings and words, and it is also alignment. It is striving toward balance, courage, and self-command.
Recovery does not always require harshness, but it does require constant honesty and dilligent devotion. It is a quiet promise: "I will tend this life as something sacred. I will care for this mind and body as part of a greater lineage. I will seek clarity so that my prayers, my offerings, and my actions carry weight".
Restraint is not denial, it is respect. So recovery then becomes an offering in itself.
May we always offer our best selves to our Gods and Goddesses, our families, and our folk; for those who came before, and for those who will come after.

We have forsaken our descendants for simple pleasures distracted by drink and cheer, manipulated and distracted while clambering for scraps of survival. Working too many hours to think free and encouraged to conform and obey, as if slavery in any time or place ever outweighed the value of a freedom mankind once knew.

The Creator-Created Paradox
In theological debate sometimes we come across an argument from monotheists & platonists, etc, "there must be one creator for one creation, ergo there's only one god." But this creates a paradox.
Imagine many different things. From their logic, the many must be contained in a singular whole to exist together & interact, so lets put the many things in a square.
They also claim something outside the square has to create the square for the things inside the square & the square to exist. So let's draw a circle outside the square.
Now there is a problem you have two things, a circle & a square. According to their logic, those two things must exist within another thing in order to interact/exist. So we draw a supersquare containing the set & a supercircle creating the supersquare. But now we have two more things, and so on, into infinity. Some Axialists, buddhists, recognize the paradox, thus say no creators exist.
Pluralism solves this by not reducing Creation & Creators into one.

Over the years I have been in ancestral faith there are really three main schools around identity & boundaries. If one has identity they by necessity have a boundary between what is & what isnt congruent with said identity.
• New-Age Heathenry
These folks have a vague identity of 'heathen.' A permeable outline insofar as they are able to incorporate any new or foreign ideals. When you examine what they believe, you essentially see a dotted-outline of heathenry, but nothing that distinguishes itself.
• Revivalist Heathenry
These folks have a defined identity, and with that has defined borders as dictated by the sources. These borders have a wide-berth as to allow exploration & innovation within reason, as to maintain the defined identity of 'what is Heathen.'
• Reconstructionist Heathenry
These folks too have an identity, which necessitates borders. However, unlike the Revivalists, Recons allow for little or no exploration into the unknown outside of the sources as to not inadvertently become 'non-heathen.'
