Let us look at another language family group, the "afro-asiatic." This language family group includes: Libyans, Egyptians, Nubians, Kenyans, Arabs, jews, Canaanites, Phoenicians, Carthaginians, Akkadians, Assyrians, Sumerians, Babylonians and so on.

Lucky for us, this region wrote a lot of things down, including these various peoples at the time they existed, and even going into detail about their religions. If we apply the pie perennialism hypothesis to this language family group, you would expect all of them to be the same group of people with the same religion. But that is not what we see.

Above are ancient egyptian depictions of these various peoples, and they aren't secretly the same, shocker. Neither are there religions the same. You can do this with every single language family group on the planet, and the pie guys are the only outlier, with copious amounts of special pleading.

What a language family group actually is, is a group of languages which share some words in common for trade purposes only.

This is a great example for why similar words, whether its a speculative reconstruction or in current use, doesn't mean it's the same. Deriving history and theology from speculative word-play is one of the goofiest things being used as "proof" for the claims made by pie guys. In truth, you can make anything "CoGnAtE" with anything else if you try hard enough; ergo you can make up anything and proclaim it as "fact" without proof, like "Odin is CoGnAtE with Shiva, therefore they the same bro." 💀

Pagan Revivalism

As a Germanic heathen, my primary concern is to evaluate our own literary and archaeological sources when exploring Germanic tradition—before ever looking outward to substantiate a claim or theory. Our focus must remain inward. We should not rely on outside cultures or speculative scholarly theories to define or explain our ancestral worldview.

We have a rich and beautiful expression of our faith preserved in mythology, archaeological finds, poetry, and historical accounts. These sources guide us in understanding what our ancestors believed and practiced. Yes, the information is fragmented—scattered across time and geography—but through proper research methods and disciplined analysis, we can reconstruct the worldview of our Germanic forebears.

Our theological foundation must come from our lore—not from modern academic trends or outsider interpretations. No living tradition waits for scholars to determine their beliefs. They turn to their own stories, their own gods, and their own ancestors. Every tradition has its own theologians, and ours is no exception.

Ancestral tradition does not rely on the concept of mythogony—the academic inquiry into where myths might have originated—but rather on the study of mythology itself: what the myths actually tell us. Each culture has its sacred stories, intended to preserve and transmit spiritual truths, cultural values, and ancestral memory. Ours is no different.

Our mythology contains our mythic history. It gives us a theological framework to apply in both ritual and daily life. When Odin hangs upon the World Tree, he gains the nine fimbulljóð—the mighty songs—which form the spiritual foundation of our tradition. All traditional cultures incorporate sacred song and recitation in ritual, and the Germanic tradition is no exception.

By placing our ancestral tradition first, we affirm the importance of direct kinship and inherited wisdom, rather than relying on distant comparisons to unrelated peoples. Comparative studies may serve as useful tools to highlight universal polytheistic themes, but they should never override the distinct identity of our own tradition.

We are Germanic heathens—first and foremost. We do not need to be anything else. Be proud of your heritage. Look to your ancestors and their traditions for guidance. Everything we need is already there.

There are many instances of our forefathers who resisted christianization, countless generations of our ancestry which lived loved and died long before neo-judaism reached the shores, mountians and forests of Europe. One such example was of King Radbod of Frisia.

This is a man who defeated charles martel at the battle of Cologne, filling the Franks with fear; but the forces of darkness gained the upper hand, forcing Radbod to "convert or die along with his folk."

His refusal eccos through time as a defiant stand against the forces of universalism. Heros such as these should too inspire us to take a stand against the darkness of our time. To have such a profound love for his ancestors that we will not betray it for anything.

Hail to Radbod!

But to Kephalos in truth she (Eos) produced an illustrious son, the brave Phaethon, comparable to the Gods, whom, when young, in the tender flower of glorious youth, a lad, conscious only of young fancies, laughter-loving Aphrodite snatched up, and rushed away, and she made him, in her sacred shrine, the temple-keeper of her inner sanctum, a radiant daimōn.

Monism is Monotheism.

Recently there has been a resurgence of monism in the Pagan sphere. This is most likely due to the ongoing implosion of both atheistic & judeo-christian circles. There is an attempt to claim monism is not monotheism, but we will briefly explain why it is.

Monism comes from the Greek μόνος (monos) meaning alone, only, single. It's definition today, as shown above, means this ideology removes all differences & distinctions as well as holding the belief that only one supreme being exists. This can be visualized as a single entity wearing multiple masks. If one entity wears multiple masks, its still fundamentally one entity.

Monistic thought is a direct product of the axial age & the Zoroastrian revolution against ancestral faith, ergo because it has a date, place and a man's name associated with its creation, it is a later creation superseding the older authentic versions of Paganism. It rewrites the entire theology, has logical inconsistencies & is counter-polytheistic, ergo anti-pagan.

Why Gods are not supernatural

Do you call birds supernatural? Probably not. But they can fly which is not natural for humans. The same logic can be applied to Gods and Goddesses. They can do things humans can’t, but it’s their divine nature to do so.
When you hear one call Gods supernatural it shows that he/she sees the world with an atheistic/christian lens.

Good perspective on the complexities of what can be constituted as “Norse religion”. The same sentiments can be said about “Germanic religion” as whole.

The reality of “heathen religion” is not as simple as the modern mind might think, and paradoxically, it was probably more simple than we realize. It is not simply something you declare to believe in. It goes much deeper, with ancestry, place, culture, language and religion all engaging with one another. It is a way of living, a way of thinking, a way of interpreting, a way of acting, all intertwined together. It is a current of being, a reality. This is why it is incompatible with the modern universalist frame.

This way would be alien to even those who profess to be heathen today, as many try to fit ancient culture to fit a modern interpretation rather than work to experience the reality of one’s ancestors. Interpretatio moderna creates further distance between us and that reality.

It is not something that can be defined by any organization, it can’t be neatly consolidated in a book, and it cannot be captured by social media nor by memes, no matter how hard many might try.

"Blessed is he whom the Muses love. And a sweet voice flows from his mouth. For when someone has sorrow in his spirit beset by new worries and is distressed by sorrow in his heart, and when the singer, 100 servants of the Muses, sings the glory of men who came before and the blessed Gods who abide in Olympus, right away such a man forgets his troubled thoughts, and his worries he no longer remembers. Quickly the gifts of the Goddesses turn him away from these things."

One of the best ways to disprove the pie language hypothesis is to understand what a language is.

Simply, every language has two basic components that are needed together to function.

The first is lexicon, or a body of words (sounds + meaning). These can be shared amongst different people to refer to the same thing, usually for trade purposes.

The second is grammar, or how you order the words to convey meaning. Basic grammar, taught from parent to child, is called 'word-order.' Modern English used SVO (Subject, Verb, Object) like, "I drink tea."

You cannot have a functioning language without lexicon and grammar together, and because word order is taught at such an early age you would expect if all the "pie derived languages" came from the same source than they would have the same grammar ... but thats not what we see. Above are various ancient languages and their grammars. We do not see a continuity between the pie derived languages, indicative they may have some shared lexicon but not a shared language.

Pagan Revivalism

This^ is needed & something we have advocated for years now on this channel.

We have hosted the good folks at Norrœna Society to share their research in relation to the Who, What & How of Germanic faith & ways, or Forn Siðr in the old tongue.

Ultimately there are objective facts of the matter when it comes to what our ancestors believed & what our ancient religions were. There's also the reality that our ancestral faith isn't the same as others, no matter who asserts otherwise. This is proven by the fact that words used to describe these religions were words tied to ethnos i.e. ethnikos. It's folkish by that metric, adding other folk into the fold is universalism & thus is not orthodox, nor folkish.

Our faiths were Exoteric & polytheistic. Monism & monotheism are recent in the archeological record & therefore are revisions of ancestral faiths. Before our legends were written on parchment, they were songs that would be sung in the open, temples were built where anyone can go to the priests, priestesses & Gods.

There's another, which is philosophy, at best, is supplemental to, & subject beneath, the sacred ways. Any philosophy must, in order to be valid in ancestral religion, conform to the religion instead of forcing the religion to conform to the philosophy. For if one is over the other, the other can be cast aside. So say an individual has perennialist philosophy, they start off with the presupposition that "perennialism must be the true-truth™" & will ignore the vast majority of what is in these religions, which are different & contradict perennialism. What this does is create unfalsifiability which is a known trait of fake research, being intellectually dishonest & one has to ask why?

We have seen individuals propose things that completely go against traditional ancestral religion. One such example is the pie perennialism hypothesis, in which they advocate for pan-eurasian syncretism, that our authority, instituted by Gods, was lokian in nature (condemned by our blessed Gods & ancestors as ergi) & literally engaging in a platonic exercise known as "the noble lie." The noble lie is a made-up captivating new origin story (a long time ago, far far away) which just so happens to contradict & try to override, those that are given to us by our Gods & ancestors. The reason for this is to get people to distance themselves from traditional religion & towards a new religious order. There are some which will claim to be heathen & orthodox when they are neither, but instead use this purposefully back-dated noble lie to assert authority of themselves over the legends.

There is a great need to have a system which has authentic authority, based upon the legends passed down to us by Gods & ancestors. As these theological debates are being settled, there needs to be a distinction between those who are being experimental & those who are being true. There is nothing wrong with being experimental, so long as it does not contradict the Gods & ancestors. What we know of our Gods & ancestors comes directly from the legends & artifacts they gave to Gods & are given back to us through archeology. We're out to impress the Gods & ancestors, not to create a "big tent" which goes against their wills (making them upset with us like if we included lokians, homosexuals, et al) but also have the knowledge necessary to settle "facts of the matter" when it comes to ancestral faiths.

Here at Pagan Revivalism channel, we support Mark Puryear & the great folk at Norrœna for their hard work & dedication. We also support this call to form actual orthodoxy which will distinguish us from people who seek to change it for any reason or rationale. There are great many things coming out of the society & will bring us one step closer to the inevitability of Pagan Revivalism.

There's nothing wrong with taking time to rest. Those of us who have been in revival for years know that we push to outdo ourselves, to work harder than before; and it is certainly a win when that can be done. There are other times when we should take time to rest as to not burn ourselves out. Much like a camp-fire, sometimes we seek to have it grow big and bright, but not at the expense of its not lasting through the night.

Pagan Revivalism channel sends its support to the good folk at Irminfolk. They have been a beacon in the Northeast for a great many of us. Their new Hof project will be magnificent when completed, and we should be patient as they make things perfect. But I also know, after they rest, they will awaken fully rejuvenated and remain as a light for us to follow.

"Better no prayer than too big an offering, by thy getting measure thy gift; better is none than too big a sacrifice, so Thund of old wrote ere man's race began, where he rose on high when home he came."

Lindisfarne was a response to the massacre at Verden.

In 782, the traitor judeo-christian usurper charlemagne, under the false banner of peace negotiations, after the Saxons revolted from judeo-christian influence, murdered 4,500 Heathens & destroyed the blessed Irminsul.

According to Annales qui dicuntur Einhardi:
"There he called to his presence the chiefs of the Saxons, and inquired who had induced the people to rebel. They all declared that Widukind was the author of the treason, but said that they could not produce him because after the deed was done he had fled to the Northmen. But the others who had carried out his will and committed the crime they delivered up to the king to the number of 4,500; and by the king's command they were all beheaded in one day upon the river Aller in the place called Verden."

From the 790s until the 910s, the Scandinavians launched several offensives against the HRE and the judeo-christian religion (Lindisfarne) which caused this great evil of violating heathen law.

I agree with this sentiment. Iterpretatio Moderna comes in many forms, but they each are united in two respects:

1. They don't treat ancestral ethno-religions as ancestral ethno-religions.
Examples such as:
Gods = archetypes
Gods = forces of nature
Gods = placenta
All the Gods are secretly something else & the same (monism, platonism, syncretism or pie perennialism)
Pagans didn't kneel
Pagans didn't sacrifice
"Celts = Slavs = Iranians = Indians we are all brothers in pie"
Pagans didn't take their religion seriously (only christians do according to them)
And many many others.

2. The constant need to "fix," "modify," "add to," & "take away from" these beliefs.
Examples of this is adding foreign ideals, philosophies and religions to "complete our faith" ultimately resulting in a frankenstein's monster amalgamation that never existed historically. Over the last decade, there has been a push to make Pagan Revival conform to pie soyence and foreign axial-age ideals.

These are all modern and should be rejected.

Nature is perfect as is & it isn't fallen.

This is the ancestral or pre-axial worldview. During the axial age, there were religious & philosophical revolutions which despised the pain & suffering of the world. In an act of pure impudence & petulance, the concept of "utopia" was 1st created as a polemic against ancestral faith. They say change, pain suffering & even death are indicative that the world (the order of the old gods) is not "perfect"(to their liking), & therefore it's fallen. That the true order doesn't involve death, suffering or predation; but is that actually the case?

This is a famous study known as the mouse utopia experiment. Mice were given everything: no disease, no predation, unlimited food/water, as well as a vast living space. A perfect system, & you would suspect the mice would thrive. After 3 generations, the mice stopped reproducing & killed their offspring & every mouse within died. This proves the axial concept of "utopia" objectively false & the ancestral pre-axial faith correct.

"All the Gauls assert that they are descended from the god Dis, and say that this tradition has been handed down by the Druids. For that reason they compute the divisions of every season, not by the number of days, but of nights; they keep birthdays and the beginnings of months and years in such an order that the day follows the night. Among the other usages of their life, they differ in this from almost all other nations, that they do not permit their children to approach them openly until they are grown up so as to be able to bear the service of war; and they regard it as indecorous for a son of boyish age to stand in public in the presence of his father."

Recently, I heard a guy speaking about the future he wishes to see.

"I love the idea of having a temple of Mars on Mars. To have a temple of Mani on the Moon. We should rise to our fullest potential."

I agree wholeheartedly with this goal, though we very well may not see it in our lifetime. What we can do is take care of the home Gods made for us. We have not regained the mastery of being in balance with nature, like our ancestors before us. What we can do here is deepen our understanding with our home, and lay down the foundation stones, and our children frame the structure. Our grandchildren will put on the roof, and great-grandchildren put on the siding. And in time, there will be a great temple with limitless potential, but it starts with you laying down the most solid of foundations for what is to come.

Though I am sympathetic to a type of 'Pagan Amish,' I do also agree that we should strive to fulfill our destiny & reach the potential granted to us by our blessed Gods. Our Ancestors will cheer us on!
