When the Crescent Fades, Let Mercy Remain

Charity Protects: "Give charity without delay, for it stands in the way of calamity." (Al-Tirmidhi)

Enduring Deeds: "When a man dies, his deeds come to an end except for three: Sadaqah Jariyah, beneficial knowledge, or a virtuous descendant who prays for him." (Muslim)

Wealth Increase: "Charity does not in any way decrease wealth." (Muslim)

Here are some hadiths that show the reasons why we should give Sadaqah. In the end, giving to the less fortunate does not hurt us.

This is an example of a child we recently helped. His life consists of going from dumpster to dumpster just to find plastic and different metals to sell. He works more than 14 hours a day and has nothing to show for it.

Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him) said in al-Tis’eeniyyah (1/125):

“The sons of Adam cannot live in this world unless they help one another in word and deed.”

This is a powerful reminder of how the ummah should support one another, especially in these difficult times of fitnah.

A Muslim is the brother of a Muslim—he stands by him in times of need. We must strive to give sadaqah to our brothers and sisters who are suffering across the world.

A day may come when you find yourself in need—and the sadaqah you gave will return to aid you. If your intentions are sincere, Allah will not forsake you.

The ummah needs people like you—strong, generous, and courageous. Will you rise against oppression by supporting your brothers and sisters in Syria?

⚡️ Board member of the #Gaza Strip Bakery Society, Kamal Agour, to the "Sad Net": - The flour crisis in #Gaza reached unprecedented levels, with most bakeries completely stopped operating due to the lack of basic materials such as flour, gas, yeast, and even firewood, amid a continuous siege for 18 months and the complete absence of alternative energy. - The crisis effectively exploded after March 2, when the occupation violated the ceasefire agreement and closed all crossings abruptly, leading to the complete suspension of the major bakeries, taking into account April 1, and what we have no longer is a stock, and we have limited quantities that are not sufficient to cover the minimum needs of the population. - There are 28 major machine bakeries in the #Gaza Strip, including 10 in the north and 18 in the south, all of which are now completely suspended, unable to produce or store, and there is no emergency plan that can be applied in light of the complete loss of control over the situation.

A’isha (RA) reported that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said:
"On the day of sacrifice, no deed is more beloved to Allah than the shedding of blood. The sacrifice will come on the Day of Resurrection with its horns, its wool, and its hooves. The blood reaches Allah before it touches the ground, so rejoice in it."
— [Tirmidhi]

Protection from Envy

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله:

“A protection from envy is giving charity and goodness as much as you are able. This has an amazing effect on repelling calamities, the evil eye, and the evil of envy. If there were nothing other than the experiences of the nations of old to prove this, it would be sufficient.

The evil eye and envy are not close to harming the one who gives charity and does good towards the creation; and if it befalls him, it is easy, and his ending is praiseworthy. This is because his gratitude is a protection for his blessings.

The envier's heart will not cool until the envied loses their blessing, and the slave does not protect his blessing with anything better than gratitude. In contrast, nothing exposes the blessing to becoming lost like ingratitude.”

Ibn al-Qayyim رحمه الله said:

“To Allāh belongs the kingdom of the heavens and the earth, yet He asks a loan from you (i.e. giving charity) but you are stingy. He created the seven seas but He loved a tear from you (out of fear of Him) but your eyes were tearless.”

[al-Fawā’id | Pg. 106]

"Ramadan might be over, but your generosity doesn’t have to be. Allah still offers you a chance—feed the hungry, shape the future, invest in the hereafter. Will you take it?" Remember, A loan to Allah never goes unpaid.

This is the reality for those tested with poverty. May Allah bless and enrich the Ummah of RasulAllah ﷺ.

Even after Ramadan, do not forget those who endure this hardship daily. Give from your wealth and be a source of khair for the Ummah.

The Prophet ﷺ said:

"Charity does not decrease wealth. No one forgives another except that Allah increases his honor, and no one humbles himself for the sake of Allah except that Allah raises him in status."
(Sahih Muslim, 2588)

The virtue of sending ṣalāh (supplications for peace) upon the Prophet ﷺ on Friday begins from sunset on the night of Jumuʿah (Thursday night) and finishes at sunset on the night of Saturday (Friday night). Moreover, sending ṣalāh upon him during the day of Friday is better than during its night (Thursday night).

تفضيل الصلاة على النبي ﷺ في الجمعة يبدأ من غروب الشمس ليلة الجمعة وينتهي بغروبها ليلة السبت، والصلاة عليه ﷺ في نهار الجمعة أفضل من ليلها



إنَّ اللهَ وملائكَتَهُ يُصَلُّونَ على النَّبي يا أَيُّها الذِّين آمَنوا صَلُّوا عَلَيهِ وَسَلِّمُوا تَسْلِيما ً

Don't forget to send Salutations on Prophet ﷺ

Allah the Almighty will do this for you:

Anas bin Maalik (radhi Allaahu anhu) said:  Verily the Prophet (salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:

Whoever sends Salah upon me once Allah will send ten upon him and remove ten of his sins and raise his rank by ten levels.

The Forgotten Purpose of the Masjid

"We’re out here fundraising for new carpets and dome refurbishments while our youth are getting stabbed in the streets, addicted to drugs, and buried before they even turn 21. Some of us are praying janāzah over kids we never made the effort to reach.

The Masjid was meant to be a lifeline, not a showroom. Where’s the mentorship? The safe space? The real conversations? If the doors of the Masjid aren’t open to guide them before the streets claim them, then what exactly are we building?

It’s time we shift our focus. Let’s invest in youth development. Let’s make our donations count where they matter most, in saving lives, not decorating Masājid."

True Compassion Isn’t Seasonal

"Sadaqah is not seasonal. The Ummah suffers in every month, not just in Ramadān. If you only give when you're fasting, thinking 'I want extra reward' that’s not compassion, that’s convenience and thinking about yourself only.

The Ummah needs us now, not next Ramadān. Children don’t wait for the crescent to cry from hunger. Homes aren’t rebuilt once a year. Grief, war, and poverty don’t take a break.

The enemies of this Dīn don’t stop funding oppression all year round. So why do we go silent after Ramadān?

If your mindset is “give only when rewards multiply,” then where is your sense of responsibility to this Ummah?"

The situation in Syria has shifted from all-out war to a devastating economic crisis. Today, countless Syrians are living in extreme poverty, with little to no aid reaching them. Families are struggling to survive, children are going hungry, and basic necessities have become luxuries.

Recently, respected shaykhs have urged Muslims around the world to act swiftly — to give their Zakat now, without delay, and direct it to our brothers and sisters in Syria and Gaza.

Zakat: 2.5% of your wealth.
As Allah says in Surah At-Tawbah (9:60):

"Zakah expenditures are only for the poor and the needy, those employed to collect it, those whose hearts are to be reconciled, for freeing captives, for those in debt, in the cause of Allah, and for the stranded traveler — an obligation ordained by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise."

Backbiting [Ghībah] The Worst Type of Generosity

Imām Ibn Taymīyyah said: "The worst type of generosity is being generous in gifting your good deeds to others due to backbiting, tale-carrying, lying, swearing and insulting [the believers]." See Majmū Fatāwa [8/303]

“Do not sit among those who tear into the flesh of the absent for Allāh likens backbiting to eating the dead meat of your brother.

Beware, for once they have feasted on another’s name, your name will be the next morsel in their mouth.

At the first whisper of backbiting, rise and leave, shield your deeds by refusing to feed on slander.”

These are the men of honour.
They may not hold status in this world, but they are men who work hard to provide for their families without lowering themselves to beg. They ask from no one but Allah.

They sift through rubbish bins, searching for plastic and cardboard to sell for a small amount of money—yet their dignity remains intact.

May Allah ease their hardships.
May Allah allow us to support them and earn His pleasure through giving sadaqah.

If You Won’t Rise, Allāh Will Replace You

وَإِن تَتَوَلَّوۡاْ يَسۡتَبۡدِلۡ قَوۡمًا غَيۡرَكُمۡ ثُمَّ لَا يَكُونُوٓاْ أَمۡثَٰلَكُم

“If you turn away, He will replace you with another people, then they will not be like you.” (Qur’ān 47:38)

"If we turn away and do nothing for our Ummah, know that Allāh does not need us.

With the next blowing of the wind, He can replace us with a people who will rise, who will give, who will speak, and who will not fear the blame of the blamers.

Don’t think for a second that you are irreplaceable.

The honour is in serving this Dīn, don’t let it pass you by.

The reason why the rubbish is outside of the bin, is because many families take the rubbish out of the bin, and tear open the bags on the ground and look for food or plastic to sell.

It is reported that Hammâd b. Abî Sulaymân was a wealthy man, he used to provide iftâr (meal to end the fast) for five hundred people in Ramadân, and would give each of them one hundred dirham after ‘Eid.

It is also reported that he used to provide iftâr for fifty poor people a day in Ramadân, and on the eve of ‘Eid he would give each of them clothes to wear.

Al-Dhahabî, Siyar A’lâm Al-Nubalâ`, in his biography of Hammâd b. Abî Sulaymân.
