Columbia University student Mahmoud Khalil, who has been detained for more than a month, missed the birth of his first child after the Department of Homeland Security rejected his request to attend the delivery, according to US media reports.

His baby was born early on Monday morning at a hospital in New York City. Khalil's wife, Noor Abdalla, condemned the government’s decision.

She said, “Despite our request for ICE [Immigration and Customs Enforcement] to allow Mahmoud to attend the birth, they denied his temporary release to meet our son. This was a purposeful decision by ICE to make me, Mahmoud, and our son suffer.”

Thirty world humanitarian organizations, including Oxfam, Medical Aid for Palestinians, and ActionAid, have issued a statement, reminding the world that over six months have passed since the UN General Assembly called on Israel to end its occupation of Palestinian territories within a year, echoing the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

Yet rather than moving toward peace, Israel has escalated its actions in the West Bank and reignited its blockade and bombardment of Gaza, shattering a tenuous two-month ceasefire. These renewed attacks have deepened an already dire humanitarian crisis.

The organizations are urging world leaders not to stand idly by. The time has come, they say, for the international community to rise to its legal and moral duties.

Israeli opposition leader Yair Lapid has called for an investigation into Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after the head of the Israeli security agency told the Supreme Court that Netanyahu tried to dismiss him for refusing to carry out controversial requests — including spying on Israeli protesters and interfering with the prime minister's ongoing corruption trial.

Speaking with Israeli Channel 13, Lapid also reiterated a warning of political violence if Netanyahu continues inciting hate against the head of the Shin Bet, Ronen Bar.

The politician, who leads the centrist Yesh Atid party, warned that "there is intelligence material on the possibility of a political assassination, Netanyahu knows this and he can stop it". He also criticised Netanyahu’s handling of the war on Gaza.
