The talks come amid growing frustration among Arab states, with Jordan’s Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi demanding a clear timeline for Israel’s withdrawal and rejecting any long-term Israeli presence in Gaza.
Diplomats acknowledge deep skepticism about the plan’s success, but emphasize that an international presence supporting Palestinian governance is essential to prevent Israel from maintaining de facto control and to enable Gaza’s reconstruction and self-administration.

The UK Labour government is under pressure after new revelations showed that West Midlands Police had warned of potential threats to Muslim communities from Maccabi Tel Aviv fans ahead of a match in Birmingham. Despite the police assessment citing risks of racist and violent behavior, ministers pushed to allow fan attendance.
Documents revealed that the police had labeled the situation a “medium risk” to local Muslim communities and pro-Palestine demonstrators, and a “high risk” concerning away supporters, raising questions about the government’s response and prioritization of public safety.

Breaking | U.S. urges Israel to allow foreign journalists into Gaza amid ongoing media blackout
With a fragile “ceasefire” in place, the Trump administration has reportedly renewed its call for Israel to permit international journalists to enter the besieged Gaza Strip, The Times of Israel reports, citing two U.S. officials.
While U.S. President Donald Trump said in August he would “like to see” reporters granted access, officials admit the issue remains low on Washington’s list of priorities, suggesting Israel faces little actual pressure to lift its two-year media ban.
On October 23, Israel’s High Court gave the government 30 more days to justify the ban after the Foreign Press Association petitioned, saying it violates “the foundational principles of a democratic state.”
Meanwhile, Ynet reports that Israel is preparing “demonstration sites” east of the so-called yellow line for Israeli-escorted media tours, aiming to shape the narrative for visiting journalists.
NEW | The Guardian reports that discussions are intensifying over a proposed UN Security Council resolution to deploy an international stabilization force in Gaza.
The resolution, expected within two weeks, remains stalled over disputes concerning U.S. leadership, coordination with the Palestinian police, and a timeline for Israel’s full withdrawal.
At a meeting in Istanbul, Muslim-majority nations including Turkey, Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the UAE, and Qatar discussed potential troop contributions.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan warned that countries would only participate if the mission aligns with their policies, criticizing Israel’s ongoing ceasefire violations and obstruction of humanitarian aid.
Jordan ruled out sending troops but offered to train a vetted Palestinian police force to handle internal security, though coordination mechanisms remain unclear.
The Guardian reported that Palestinians are facing one of the toughest missions in modern warfare as they struggle to recover thousands of bodies from beneath Gaza’s rubble a year after the war.
It estimated that 10,000 to 14,000 people remain buried under 61 million tons of debris, while rescue teams work with basic tools because heavy equipment is barred from entering the Strip.
In the first weeks of the truce, 472 bodies were recovered, and Israel returned 195 Palestinian bodies in exchange for the remains of Israeli captives. The lack of DNA testing devices has made identifying victims nearly impossible.
The report added that clearing the debris could take at least seven years, and unexploded ordnance continues to threaten lives. Gaza, it concluded, has become “a city of craters and ruins,” with normal life still a distant hope.
