NEWβοΈ: Two employees at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) were fired after investigators found they had engaged in sexually explicit online conversations, or βsexting,β with foreign nationals, according to an internal probe.
A review by FEMAβs Insider Threat Program (ITP) flagged one IT Services Division worker β who held a top secret clearance β for logging into Facebook Messenger on the agencyβs unclassified network and sexting with someone believed to be in the Philippines, records show.
Between Aug. 19 and 27, the employee allegedly exchanged multiple messages with the presumed Filipino national, documents obtained by the Daily Caller show. In one, he wrote, βI saw your post on a Philippine dating group here, so I messaged you,β and later referenced βManila Philippines,β saying he hoped to visit in βNovember or December.β

Democratic lawmakers on the U.S. Senate Banking Committee have demanded that Stephen Miran pledge to resign from his job as chief White House economic adviser before the Republican-controlled panel takes any more steps to advance his nomination for a seat on the Federal Reserve's Board of Governors.
Miran said at his confirmation hearing last week he had been legally advised that he need only take an unpaid leave from the White House's Council of Economic Advisors because the Fed job he is seeking only runs through the end of January, and "that is what I would be taking."
The Democratic senators on the panel noted that his term could last longer, depending on the time it took to confirm a successor, and said the dual role created a potential conflict between his duty as both a central banker and an adviser to President Donald Trump.
"It is ludicrous to contend that you could exercise independent judgment regarding monetary policy and financial regulation," a majority of the panel's Democratic members said in a letter that demanded Miran commit to resign his White House job by September 8.

IT HAS BEGUNπ₯: The Trump administration said on Monday that it had begun a crackdown on illegal immigration in Chicago, though local officials and advocates for immigrants around the city said they had seen only a handful of arrests so far.

The Trump administration on Monday asked the Supreme Court to allow the government to withhold $4 billion of spending on foreign aid that was approved by Congress.
The move came in response to a federal judge's ruling last week that requires the administration to spend the funds despite President Donald Trump notifying Congress that he intends not to.
The case marks a showdown over to what extent the president can refuse to spend money that Congress has appropriated, a brewing issue as Trump has embraced a sweeping view of presidential power since taking office again in January.
