The ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee penned a letter to the Department of Justice demanding information about Ghislaine Maxwell's recent prison transfer and meeting with a top Trump administration official.
Rep. Jamie Raskin, D-Md., said the recent transfer of Maxwell β a convicted sex trafficker and Jeffrey Epstein's former girlfriend and alleged accomplice β out of a maximum security prison in Tallahassee, Florida, gives "the strong appearance" that the Trump administration "is attempting to cover up the full extent of the relationship between President Trump and Mr. Epstein."
In the letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Bureau of Prisons Director William K. Marshall III, Raskin said Maxwell's new home at a minimum-security federal prison camp in Bryan, Texas, provides "greater freedom for inmates." He argued that such an "extraordinary transfer" would typically be "categorically off limits to sex offenders."
"These actions raise substantial concerns that the administration may now be attempting to tamper with a crucial witness, conceal President Trumpβs relationship with convicted sex offenders, and coax Ms. Maxwell into providing false or misleading testimony in order to protect the President," Raskin wrote, according to a copy of the letter obtained by Fox News Digital. "The transfer also appears to violate both DOJ and Bureau of Prisons (BOP) policies."
The letter asked for a cache of documents related to why Maxwell was transferred from Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Tallahassee to Federal Prison Campe (FPC) Bryan.

House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, said Tuesday that he put former top Obama administration official, Attorney General Merrick Garland, and Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., on notice that they may have to testify about leaked intelligence related to Russiagate.Β
"Yeah, I would like to probably talk to the individual who did the 302," Jordan said on the "Just the News, No Noise" TV show when asked if Garland and Schiff should testify. "I assume there's a 302 done. We just got this information. We're just digging through it."
A 302 is a report form that FBI agents use to summarize witness interviews.Β
An intelligence officer who worked for Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee for more than a decade repeatedly warned the FBI beginning in 2017 that then-Rep. Adam Schiff approved leaking classified information to smear then-President Donald Trump over the now-debunked Russiagate scandal, according to an FBI memo first reported on by Just the News.
The FBI 302 interview reports obtained by Just the News state the intelligence staffer β a Democrat by party affiliation who described himself as a friend to both Schiff, now a California senator, and former Republican House Intelligence Chairman Devin Nunes β considered the classified leaking to be "unethical," "illegal," and βtreasonous,β but was told not to worry about it because Schiff believed he would be spared prosecution under the Constitution's speech and debate clause.
No publicly-disclosed opinion from the attorney general or the solicitor general can be found making that determination as a matter of law. Officials told Just the News that DOJ officials showed little interest in pursuing Schiff when the allegations were brought to them years ago.
