NEW: Canada removed many of its retaliatory tariffs on the U.S. on Friday, marking a significant step forward in the two countries' relationship.
Canada in March imposed counter-tariffs of 25% on a long list of U.S. products that fall in line with the North American trade deal after the U.S. had announced 25% duties on steel and aluminum. Notably, Canada's 25% tariffs on U.S. autos, steel and aluminum will remain in place for now, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney said in a press conference Friday.

U.S. Navy sailor Jinchao Wei (aka Patrick Wei), a machinist's mate on USS Essex at Naval Base San Diego with security clearance, was convicted Wednesday in San Diego federal court of six counts: conspiracy to commit espionage, espionage, and unlawful export of technical data about U.S. defense vehicles, for $12,000.
Approached in February 2022 via social media by a Chinese intelligence officer posing as a naval enthusiast, Wei sent photos, videos, and sensitive info on the ship's weapons, movements, vulnerabilities, and other Navy ships from restricted systems until his August 2023 arrest.
They used encrypted apps, multiple online accounts, digital dead drops, and agent-provided devices to conceal communications; Wei called the handler "Big Brother Andy."
Wei told another sailor he was asked to spy for China and later described his actions to FBI investigators.
Sentencing is Dec. 1; maximum penalty is life in prison.

Iβm fascinated by a chain; more specifically, the individual links that make up the chain. They are held together, arm in arm, locked in unity to comprise a single, solid resolve. Chains secure, lock up, keepout, hold back, hold onto, deter, and fend off their objective.
In my first week of blogging I have seen links, chaining themselves together, passing along ideas, art, and inspiration. Itβs a beauty all its own. Unity.
It doesnβt matter the size of your platform or the decibel your voice. When chained together, your slight rattling is heard and felt and passed from one link to the next.
