BREAKINGπ₯: The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its immunization schedule on Monday, dropping the universal COVID-19 vaccine recommendation and recommending that toddlers receive the chickenpox shot separately from the measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) shot.
Acting Director and Deputy Secretary of Health and Human Services Jim O'Neill signed off on the recommendations, which were made by the CDC's Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) last month.
"Informed consent is back," O'Neill said in a statement. "CDC's 2022 blanket recommendation for perpetual COVID-19 boosters deterred health care providers from talking about the risks and benefits of vaccination for the individual patient or parent. That changes today."

NEWβΌοΈ: A South Carolina judgeβs beachfront home was destroyed in a massive fire, sparking an arson investigation. Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodsteinβs $1.5M, three-story Edisto Beach residence went up in flames around 11:30 a.m., with smoke and fire engulfing the entire structure, as captured by a localβs drone footage.
Goodstein was not home, but her family, including her ex-senator husband Arnold Goldstein, was inside and forced to jump from a window or balcony to escape.
The blaze, described as resulting from an βapparent explosionβ by Chief Justice John Kittredge, left three family members hospitalized, including Goldstein, who suffered serious injuries like broken bones in his hips, legs, and feet after aiding othersβ escape.
The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) is investigating the cause, with Chief Mark Keel noting extra patrols are in place until itβs determined whether the fire was accidental or arson. Goodstein, recently involved in a controversial voter data case, had reportedly received death threats prior to the incident.

OpenAI is preparing a standalone social app powered by its Sora 2 video model, according to Wired. The app βclosely resemblesβ TikTok with a vertical video feed and swipe-to-scroll, but only features AI-generated clips β users canβt upload from their camera roll.
Wired reported thatΒ Sora 2 will generate clips of 10 seconds or less inside the app, though limits outside the app are unclear. TikTok, which started with a 15-second cap, now allows 10-minute uploads. The app will also offer identity verification, letting Sora 2 use a personβs likeness in generated videos. Others can tag or remix that likeness, but OpenAI will notify users whenever itβs used β even if the video isnβt posted.
Wired adds the software will refuse some videos due to copyright, but protections may be weak. The Wall Street Journal reports rights holders must opt out to keep their content from appearing in Sora 2βs outputs.
