Nate Duncan I don't care how many points, rebounds, and assists he puts up in the regular season, Domantas Sabonis just isn't a difference-making player to a high-level team. Showing why that's true again tonight.
Can't defend the perimeter or at the rim, can't shoot, and his tryhard physical game gets exposed when the intensity ramps up in the playoffs.
Simply can't imagine a team playing him 40+ million ever winning a playoff series.

NY Times “Jokić, like a bat, can tell where people are just by where sound waves originate.”
> Bruce Brown, who played for the Nuggets’ 2023 title team, knows the Jokić bump firsthand.
>Early in Brown’s season in Denver, the guard went into a handoff play with Jokić. Once the MVP received the basketball, both his defender and Brown’s followed him, which left Brown open. Brown screamed out the proper terminology.
>“Wolf! Wolf!” he yelled, the Nuggets’ alert that a double team was coming.
>With no one on him, Brown then cut to the basket, figuring Jokić could hit him for an easy layup. Instead, Jokić tossed a no-look pass far behind him and out of bounds. Later in the game, Jokić explained why.
>“Don’t cut,” he told Brown. “I’m listening to your voice.”
>Jokić, like a bat, can tell where people are just by where sound waves originate. From that point on, Brown never cut after yelling for the ball; Jokić hit him with no-look dimes constantly.

WFAA Mavs GM Nico Harrison addressing media for just second time since Luka trade on Tuesday — and no cameras or recording devices are allowed
DALLAS — The Dallas Mavericks issued an invite to a hand-selected group of media members on Monday, offering them the chance to attend a "small media roundtable discussion" on Tuesday with Mavs CEO Rick Welts and General Manager Nico Harrison.
The invite, sent out with less than 24 hours' notice, beckoned individual members of the press — not the organizations with whom they are affiliated — to attend a gathering at 10 a.m. with Harrison and Welts. The invite to the event, which is being held in the media boardroom on the platinum level of the American Airlines Center, promised "brief remarks followed by Q&A" with the top brass in the Mavericks organization.
The invite also clearly stipulated that no cameras or recording devices would be allowed in the meeting.
Instead, the team said it would provide a transcript of the discussion to attending media members after the fact.
It is not yet clear what the statement Welts and Harrison are set to provide will address, why the meeting is not being held as a press conference, or why no cameras or recording devices are being allowed.

AMA with Chris Hine, author of "Ant" and Timberwolves beat writer
Hi everyone. I'm Chris Hine, Timberwolves beat writer for the Minnesota Star Tribune and author of the upcoming "Ant," which is a biography of Anthony Edwards. It comes out June 3 and is available for pre-order now by clicking this link and picking your preferred retailer. It tells the story of how family and community came together during Ant's childhood and teenage years to help him make it to the NBA. For those unfamiliar with his story, two of the rocks in his life, his mother Yvette and grandmother Shirley, died of cancer when he was 13. It talks about their impact on his life and how people in Atlanta made sure Ant accomplished his goal of making to the NBA after they were gone.
It also talks about his first four years in the NBA, and the ups and downs of becoming an All-NBA player. Then it ends with with his Olympic experience playing alongside his favorite player growing up, Kevin Durant. Happy to take your questions about the book and about covering his NBA career so far.
We dropped an excerpt of the book yesterday, which discusses how Ant became the No. 1 pick in 2020, on our website at the Star Tribune: You can read it here.

Crazy no international player has done this before, I definitely thought Yao Ming jersey somehow did this cause of China influence.

Bam Adebayo has a reputation for being a great defensive player and thinks he should be in DPOY talks despite allowing 71.4% FG at the rim. The worst of any starting center in the league.
Source: https://www.nba.com/stats/players/defensive-impact?PlayerPosition=C&TeamID=0&dir=D&sort=DEF\_RIM\_FG\_PCT
He also is averaging only 0.7 blocks per game, 50th of all players in the league.
Is Bam being labeled as a great defensive player on reputation alone?

Brown Dallas Mavericks GM Nico Harrison says "there's no regrets" on trading Luka Doncic
Source
>Dallas Mavericks General Manager Nico Harrison, along with the team's CEO Rick Welts, addressed the media in a private roundtable discussion on Monday for the first time since trading Luka Doncic to the Lakers.
>Harrison said he has no regrets trading the Mavs' superstar, despite backlash not only across the sports world but among Dallas fans.
>"There's no regrets on the trade," Harrison said during a round table discussion. "Part of it is doing the best thing for the Mavs."
>Harrison said he believes the team post-trade, which was intended to be on the floor before all of the injuries, is a "championship team." He added that once everyone is at full strength, the team will have one of the strongest frontlines in the NBA.
>Harrison said every trade he's done has been met with scrutiny.
>Since Doncic's trade, fans have shared their outrage online, outside and inside the team's home arena, American Airlines Center, holding signs and shouting "fire Nico."
>Harrison believes that Doncic is extremely talented, but doubled down in saying the trade "was the best decision going forward."
>Welts said in his 47 years in his role, he's never seen a more passionate fanbase than Dallas. "We hear them. It's on us to win back their trust," he said. "This story is unfinished. We understand the pain."
>But Welts said he's optimistic for the future of the franchise.
>Doncic, who played in his first game in Dallas since his trade last week, was emotional on his return. He entered the AAC to cheers and T-shirts with "Hvala za vse" across the front, which translates to "thank you for everything."
>He was also brought to tears when a tribute video of his time with the Mavs played after the rest of the Lakers' starting lineup had been introduced.
>Doncic had been the face of the Mavs, and he was the NBA scoring champion last season when Dallas made it to the NBA Finals. The 2019 rookie of the year had two seasons left on his contract before the trade in February 2025, in a package that brought Anthony Davis to Dallas.
>Following Doncic's return to Dallas, he told reporters he had a little more closure. Sadly, Mavs fans... he, too, has to turn the page.
>"I spent a lot of time here. Great moments," Doncic said. "But ... I got to focus on different things now."

Mod Post 2025 Playoffs Rule Refresher
With the Play-In beginning tonight and the playoffs starting soon, we wanted to remind you guys of some of the subreddit's rules.
----
1) In an effort to promote higher quality posting and overall quality of the subreddit, we will be disabling self posts during the games.
Beginning tonight, self posts will be disabled roughly 15 minutes before the start of games for that day and will be re-enabled roughly 15 minutes after the games have ended for that day.
Game threads will be automated and stickied to the top of the subreddit.
Post game threads will be submitted by mods.
The only other allowed threads while the games are occurring will be direct link posts for Highlights, news from approved BlueSky accounts, any news article or basketball stat sites (example: nba.com, bbref, espn).
In the event of a record being broken, you can message us to have that approved as a self post with a source confirming the record.
We have followed this change during last couple season's playoffs and received positive feedback from the majority of the users.
----
2) Direct BlueSky links are for news only and need to follow the format of: Author's last name Exact text of tweet News is considered to be things such as League/Team/Player updates (player availability, injuries, etc.).
This means that any other self posts will need to wait to be posted until after that day's slate of games have come to an end.
Posts from the r/nba Approved BlueSky accounts list will be allowed
----
3) Highlight Quality Enforcement
Highlights should show as much of the play as possible, and not abruptly cut off at the end. If a better version of the highlight is posted after the original (this includes overall quality, duration, replays, etc.), the original highlight may be removed in favor of the higher quality one.
If you are a user posting a better quality highlight of one that has already been posted, you can message us to let us know.
Highlights should be posted via Streamable and have a title that begins with a Highlight tag. Highlights are required to follow quality requirements (720p+, no screen recordings) and contain the original broadcast audio. The title of the highlight should be a description of the highlight.
In the event of an injury, these clips do not need to be labeled as a Highlightand you can use an Injury tag instead.
