🇷🇺 🇮🇳 Russian Ministry of Economic Development expects launch of visa-free agreement with India in 2024

“A group visa-free exchange has been initiated with China and Iran. Recently, the first groups from Iran were received. A similar visa-free agreement with India is planned to be concluded in 2024. Work is underway with several countries to completely abolish visas,” said Dmitry Vakhrukov, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia.

📈 He also stated that the inbound tourist flow should increase to 16 million by 2030. Also, in 2024, an effective system for comprehensive promotion of Russian tourism products in foreign markets is also planned to be developed.

200 events, conferences and forums to take place within Russian chairmanship of BRICS in 2024

The plan of activities has been approved following a meeting of the organizing committee chaired by Yury Ushakov, Aide to the Russian President. The goals of the Russian chairmanship of BRICS have also been defined. Among them are:

🔹 providing assistance in the organic integration of new members into the BRICS activities;
🔹 jointly with all BRICS members, finalizing the modalities of the new category of “partner states” of the association.

🗓 The BRICS Summit to take place in Kazan in October 2024 will become the culmination of the Russian chairmanship. The capital of Tatarstan will host the first-ever meeting of the leaders of the expanded BRICS.

📈 The traffic of Russian tourists to Cuba will skyrocket by a factor of four to 180,000 people as of the end of 2023, the high-ranking official noted.

📊 The number of Russians visiting Cuba as tourists increased by 85% during the first half of 2023, exceeding 60 thousand people, as reported by Sergey Baldin, Russia’s trade representative in Havana, to RIA Novosti.

🇷🇺 🇨🇳 The first ever Made in Russia festival will take place in China on the eve of the Chinese New Year.

Over 1,000 Russian products will be presented at the fairs. Approximately 3 million people are expected to attend the event within a week.

“This format envisions promotion of Russian traditions, culture and arts, traditional sports and sports achievements, and high quality goods under the Made in Russia brand through collaboration of fair, cultural and sport events,” Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Chernyshenko said at the bilateral intergovernmental commission’s meeting.

🗓 The series of Made in Russia fairs will take place from 27 January to 4 February 2024 in the Liaonung Province.

🇷🇺 🇮🇳 The Russia-India trade turnover exceeded 3.9 trillion rubles in the first three quarters of 2023. This already surpasses the volume of bilateral trade for the entire year of 2022, said Russian Deputy Minister of Economic Development Dmitry Volvach at the XIV India–Russia Business Dialogue.

“It can be confidently said that this year we will break our historical record in mutual trade. It seems to me that this is also a very serious sign and symbol that what we are doing, we are doing it right,” he said.

👮 The growth of trade and economic relations influences the work of the customs authorities of both countries, reported Deputy Head of Federal Customs Service of Russia, Elena Yagodkina:

🔹 Some customs checkpoints have already switched to 24-hour operation to avoid delivery delays.

🔹 Negotiations are underway for mutual recognition of customs control and economic operators. It is expected that around 1,200 companies from India will soon be included in the list of such operators.

🔹 The Russian customs representation in Delhi is engaged in constructive dialogue with all relevant Indian authorities to promptly resolve issues faced by entrepreneurs.

“We can definitely expect that the trade turnover between India and Russia will increase just like between Russia and China. <> As for forecasts, I am confident that we will significantly exceed the $40 billion mark,” said Alexei Gruzdev in an interview with Russia Today.

📊 According to the official, Russian companies explore the supply of railway equipment to India, work in the mining sector, supply equipment for the modernization of enterprises, etc. Imports from India have grown by more than 40%, with industrial products accounting for over 70% of it.

🇷🇺🇨🇳 Russia–China turnover to increase to $300 billion by 2030

Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov commented on the results of the meeting between Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Premier of the State Council of China Li Qiang on expanding strategic partnership.

🔹 In 11 months, the Russia-China trade volume reached 18 trillion rubles (around $200 billion), surpassing the joint target for 2024. By 2030, the plan is to increase this figure to 27 trillion rubles (around $300 billion).

🔹 An agreement on pork supplies to the Chinese market has been reached.

🔹 Currently, over 90% of mutual settlements are conducted in national currencies. This tendency will continue.

🔹 Investment ties are growing, and large-scale projects worth 18 trillion rubles are being implemented in gas and chemical industries, mineral extraction, agriculture, automobile manufacturing, household appliance production, and transportation infrastructure construction.

🔹 A memorandum on green and low-carbon development is being prepared between the Sakhalin Region and Guangdong Province in the field of greenhouse gas emissions quotas and climate adaptation.

🔹 China ranks first in the number of inbound tourist trips to Russia. By the end of the year, the number of Chinese tourists will exceed 1 million.

Alexey Valkov, Deputy CEO of the Roscongress Foundation and Director of the SPIEF, reported this at the plenary session of the XIV India–Russia Business Dialogue.

“The indicators of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum also prove this: last year, the forum was attended by 17,000 people from over 130 countries. These were the indicators we had before the pandemic,” stated the SPIEF Director, supporting his words with statistics.

“Energy occupies an important place in the complex of Russian-Chinese multidimensional relations, serving as their locomotive. Despite the challenges faced by our countries in the modern stage, energy cooperation is rapidly advancing in all directions, gaining new content, and acquiring the characteristics of a genuine strategic alliance," said Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak at the 20th meeting of the Russian–Chinese Intergovernmental Commission on Energy Cooperation.

During the event, the following points were highlighted:

🔹 Russia traditionally holds the first place in oil exports to China.

🔹 Gas supplies via the Power of Siberia pipeline are increasing.

🔹 Work is underway on new routes for its deliveries, both directly from Russia through the Far Eastern route and via Mongolia.

🔹 Cooperation in LNG and coal supplies to China is expanding.

The Russian economy has a sufficient margin of safety not only to feel confident but also to move forward. During the Results of the Year life broadcast, Russian President Vladimir Putin said:

“As it turned out, and this came as a big surprise to our so-called partners and, frankly, many of us, over the previous decades Russia has accumulated a sufficient margin of safety and stability in finance and the economy.”

Other interesting points by the President are as follows:

🔹 The main indicator of economic growth is GDP, which is expected to have grown by 3.5 percent as of the end of the year.

🔹 Businesses have added 24 percent in profit, the banks will earn almost three trillion rubles.

🔹 Government debt has been reduced from $46 billion to $32 billion.

🔹 Industrial output is increasing steadily, at 3.6 percent. Manufacturing output has grown by 7.5 percent year-on-year.

🔹 Investment in fixed capital has risen by 10 percent. It indicates there will be sustainable growth in the medium term.

🔹 The unemployment rate is now 2.9 percent. “It is something we have never seen in Russian history.”

🗓 The regions of the North Caucasus Federal District presented their potential at the North Caucasus Federal District Days at the RUSSIA EXPO. They will also showcase their stands at the Caucasus Investment Forum, which will take place in May 2024 in Mineralnye Vody, Russia.
