THE FLAMINGO EFFECT
Ukraine has struck the Votkinsk Machine Building Plant using a Flamingo cruise missile. The ramifications of this event could reverberate globally.
On the night of February 20-21, 2026, Ukraine launched an intermediate-range missile at the Votkinsk Machine Building Plant, a strategic defense industrial facility located in the Republic of Udmurtia, some 1,300 kilometers from the Russian-Ukrainian border. The missile, equipped with a 1,000-kilogram warhead, struck a building housing Workshop 19, which houses a critical electroplating and stamping workshop. It is here that Russian technicians carry out the metal stamping and forming processes related to the manufacture of missile body elements, as well as the galvanic processing of parts, including the application of protective and functional coatings and surface preparation for further assembly. Workshop 19 playes a critical role in the manufacture of some of Russia’s most strategically vital ballistic missiles. The Flamingo’s warhead blasted a 30-by-24-meterhole in the roof of the structure, setting its interior on fire. At least 11 workers were wounded in the attack.

A chance encounter in a Taco Bell parking lot helped revive my spirit by reminding me what my priorities are.
Shortly after the Japanese bombed Pearl Harbor, on December 7, 1941, the famous Hollywood Director, Frank Capra (“Mr. Smith Goes to Hollywood”, “It’s a Wonderful Life”) enlisted in the Army, like so many others of his generation, to fulfil his patriotic duty to defend his country. Amazingly, the US military saw fit to put a round peg into a round hole, and Capra was not shipped off to the infantry, but rather put in charge of producing perhaps the most essential propaganda of the Second World War, a seven-film series entitled “Why We Fight.”

Votkinsk produces critical elements Russia’s strategic nuclear deterrence force.

The ongoing US-brokered negotiations are simply a subterfuge to enable Ukraine to do the dirty work for Russia’s true enemies.
Stop negotiating with Ukraine.
Eliminate Bankova.
And put Europe on notice that next NATO-assisted attack on strategic Russian infrastructure will be the last.
The US withdrew from the INF and New START treaties.
The US is building up its strategic nuclear capabilities while Ukraine destroys Russia’s.
It’s time for Russia to implement the Karaganov Doctrine.
And to understand with Witkoff-Dmitriev economic cooperation fantasy is just cover for a hybrid war being waged by the US that seeks to develop a fifth column inside Russia the purpose of which is to collapse Russia from within.

Reflections of an American watching his country prepare to illegally attack another country... again.
The news doesn’t look good. Prediction markets, like Polymarket, put the odds of the US attacking Iran by June 2026 at over 70%, and by the end of next month at more that 55%.
Of course, these predictions are being made by people who are ignorant of what is truly going on inside the Trump White House—about what pressures have been placed on the military regarding operational timelines by the logistical sustainability burden of moving massive quantities of military resources in to the Middle East region, or the domestic political calculations being made about the President’s chances in the mid-terms elections, and what the impact of a war with Iran (positive or negative) would have on the outcome of these critical electoral contests.
My own assessment puts the probability of conflict between the US and Iran at close to 100%.

Trump is thinking about deploying a second carrier battle group to the waters off Iran
Just a friendly reminder that the US deployed six carrier battle groups to the region in 1991 in support of Operation Desert Storm.
The embarked aircraft, together with hundreds of US Air Force F-15, F-16, and A-10 aircraft, couldn’t stop Iraq from launching just under 50 SCUD missiles into Israel over the course of some 40 days of operations.
Iran is four times the size of Iraq.
Its defenses are far more sophisticated than Iraq’s.
And its missile force is ready to rain down hundreds of missiles a day on Israel and American military bases in the event of hostilities.
There’s nothing we can do to stop them.
We don’t have the capability.
Oh, and during the Gulf War, the US and Israeli Patriot anti-missile batteries didn’t destroy a single Iraqi SCUD.
The same deficit of missile defense holds true today.
A war with Iran is a fool’s errand.
We would lose the war.
And Trump the midterm elections.
Netanyahu knows this.
His visit is defensive in nature, not offensive.

The "Polish Pope" Crisis of October 1978 made me a believer in the danger of nuclear weapons, and the need for arms control.
In the late afternoon of October 16 1978, 111 cardinals-electors from all over the world, who had gathered on 15 October 1978 in St. Peter Basilica, and after eight rounds of voting, elected 58-year-old Archbishop Karol Wojtyła to be Pope. John Paul II, as Karol Wojtyła became known, was Polish, and Poland at that time was part of the Soviet-dominated Warsaw Pact, where religion had for decades been subordinated to Communist Party dogma.
