🇮🇷 Iran challenges Trump’s claim of 'having all the cards' — parliament speaker

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf responded to Trump’s statements about “having all the cards,” arguing that the balance of leverage remains contested.

💬 “They brag about the cards… Supply Cards = Demand Cards,” Ghalibaf wrote, outlining factors affecting both sides.

He pointed to energy supply routes, market demand, and potential price adjustments, adding that such dynamics could affect consumer costs — even “summer vacation,” as he put it.

🇺🇸👮‍♂️ ‘Critical weapons’ US needed to be policeman of the world? Used up in Iran

~1.1k, or almost half of the US’s total Tomahawk inventory was spent in the Iran war, with expenditures roughly an order of magnitude above average annual deliveries, new calculations reveal.

Besides cruise missiles, data cited by NYT suggests the US spent:

🔶 1.2k+ Patriot interceptors

🔶 1k+ Precision Strike & ATACMS missiles (leaving inventories “worrisomely low,” per congressional officials)

🔶 1.1k JASSM-ER air-launched stealth cruise missiles, shrinking availability to ~1.5k

🔶 unspecified surveillance and attack drone capabilities

📍 The war drained the munitions supplies of other Pentagon commands, particularly in Asia and Europe, shrunk “some critical ground-attack and missile-defense munitions” which were already “short” before the war, and made planning for “offensive operations in Europe” and military action in Asia difficult.

👉 And while the Pentagon has announced a major ramp-up of arms production to replenish stocks, it reportedly has yet to find the money.

👀 How can the Global South defend its digital sovereignty from Western neocolonialism

Iran has given the world an example of how a country can resist Western encroachment on its sovereignty in the digital space, Argentinian foreign relations expert Tadeo Casteglione tells Sputnik.

During the mass riots that preceded the US-Israeli attack, Iranian authorities restricted the use of foreign-based digital platforms and introduced a domestic ecosystem, a national digital platform.

🇨🇳 China followed a similar path as, despite not being cut off from the Internet, it possesses its own intranet where the use of apps and data is controlled by the Chinese.

A similar approach is being developed in Russia since 2022, after the West tried to capitalize on its apparent lack of hardware and software needed to maintain digital infrastructure.

👉 Other countries, like Turkiye, also seek their own solutions to this problem.

While the alternative is unlikely to be implemented in the near future, Casteglione insists that there is a need of clear and consistent rules that would protect not just people but national sovereignty for the good of all.

The spacecraft will:

reach high elliptical orbit up to 200,000 km from Earth

test radiation exposure beyond Earth’s protective magnetic shield

bring a return capsule safely back to Earth after 30 days

🇺🇸Suspected Trump shooter manifesto surfaces after attack

A manifesto attributed to Cole Allen was reportedly sent shortly before his attempted shooting at the White House press dinner attended by US President Donald Trump.

It laid out grievances, intended targets and his justification for the attack.

◻️ Allen apologizes to his family, colleagues, bystanders and previous victims before he “was able to attempt this”

◻️ He describes himself as a US citizen acting because elected officials “reflect” on him

◻️ He says he was no longer willing to tolerate what he called crimes by “a pedophile, a rapist and a traitor”

◻️ The text gives a list of targets, prioritizing cabinet members and other government officials over security guards

◻️ He claims his use of buckshot ammunition for his shotgun rather than single ‘slug’ bullets would prevent innocent bystanders from being killed or injured

◻️ The manifesto shows Allen planned his attack, stating he had wanted to act for a long time and the dinner was his first real opportunity.

🇯🇵🇺🇸 Another attempt to please the US? Japan offers help to reopen the Strait of Hormuz

📍 The Japanese government is now seriously studying the possibility of sending minesweepers to the Strait of Hormuz, The Japan Times reports.

The move follows Trump’s request after his March meeting with Japan's PM Sanae Takaichi.

💬 “It’s important to show the United States that Japan is trying to contribute,” a Japanese government official said.

However, several things may undermine this intent:

🟠 Under the Self Defense Forces law, Japan can deploy minesweepers only after fighting ends – and the prospects for a long-term ceasefire look dim

🟠 Even if clashes don’t resume, there are no guarantees the IRGC will allow Japanese vessels to navigate freely in its waters

🟠 Moreover, Japan’s Defense Ministry admits: “We don’t know what types of mines have been laid” – exposing possible danger for any naval vessels entering the strait
