🪖 Foreign mercs fighting for Ukraine resurrect Nazi-style psychological warfare

Foreign mercenaries fighting for Ukraine have attempted to demoralize Russian soldiers by broadcasting nighttime loudspeaker calls for surrender — echoing the tactics used by the Nazis during the Great Patriotic War, a Russian officer told Sputnik.

💬 "’Hey, Russian soldier, surrender. Your commander has betrayed you. If you want to live, surrender.’ And so, they just play it in a loop for you all night long through the loudspeaker," he explains, describing the situation he encountered in the Dnepropetrovsk region, where Russian and Ukrainian forces were positioned a short distance from each other.

According to intelligence data, Polish mercenaries could have been there, he notes.

🇺🇸🚀 US space weapons claims risk igniting orbital arms race - expert

Statements such as US Secretary of the Air Force Troy Meink’s claim that the United States has deployed an “on-orbit” weapon could have far-reaching consequences, Daryl Kimball, executive director of the Arms Control Association, told Sputnik.

Announcing that the US has a space weapon in Earth's orbit could fuel a dangerous arms race in orbit, he noted.

👉 In his opinion, that could set off a cycle of action and counteraction, threatening the satellites and other orbital systems that countries worldwide rely on for communications, navigation and other essential services.

He argued that the world’s major nuclear powers are failing to address growing strategic risks.

The five nuclear-weapon states are not actively discussing concerns over weapons in space, strategies for reducing nuclear risks or measures to halt and reverse the expansion of nuclear arsenals, he noted.

💬 The expert urged the US and other powers to exercise restraint and return to arms-control diplomacy, calling for America to launch bilateral negotiations with both Russia and China to prevent a dangerous buildup in space.

The warning comes as US War Secretary Pete Hegseth has repeatedly stated that space represents the future of warfare, requiring heightened offensive and defensive investments.

Russia Has repeatedly underscored that it stands for preserving space as an area exclusively for peaceful activities.

🇮🇷 ‘What language must we use to say we are not seeking nuclear weapons?’ — Pezeshkian

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian slammed the US for using nuclear allegations as a pretext for aggression against Iran, arguing that Tehran has operated within international law and subjected its nuclear facilities to extensive inspections under the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), IRNA reported.

💬 “We are a member of the NPT, and the NPT rules are clear. They have carried out the most inspections regarding the nuclear issue in Iran. They came every day to inspect and visit,” the president said.

Pezeshkian stressed that Iran would not have joined the NPT if it intended to pursue nuclear weapons.

💬 “What evidence have they found that we are building nuclear weapons that gave them the right to attack our country like this? They lie, just like all the lies they always tell people from behind their podiums,” he emphasized.

🇨🇳 China turns lithium waste into strategic gold

China has launched the world's first 500-tonne production line to extract rubidium and caesium from lithium waste in Jiangxi province, achieving stable production, the Chinese Academy of Sciences reported.

🔶 Rubidium and caesium are critical for aerospace, quantum computing, biomedicine, and new energy

🔶 They don't exist as independent minerals — they're locked in low-grade lithium ores and brines, making extraction extremely difficult

🔶 China's new tower extraction system recovers over 98% of caesium and 95% of rubidium, with 99.9% purity

🔶 The technology cuts extractant use by 40% and equipment footprint by over 50%

China already dominates global rubidium resources — with five production lines and around 3,000 tonnes of annual capacity.

📊🇺🇸 US strategic petroleum reserve hits 44-year low

Strategic Petroleum Reserve (SPR) oil stocks in the US have fallen to their lowest level since November 1982, according to the Department of Energy. As of last week, they stood at 285 million barrels – down by around 130 million barrels since the beginning of the Iran war, launched by the US and Israel in February 2026.

The SPR has undergone massive drawdowns over the past five years, starting with President Joe Biden’s release of 180 million barrels in 2022. When Biden took office in January 2021, SPR stocks stood at around 638 million barrels. By the time he left office, total drawdowns had reduced the figure to around 395 million barrels, according to data from the US Energy Information Administration.

Energy Secretary Chris Wright has vowed that the SPR “will start being refilled in the next few months."

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said BRICS was created to counter American practice of sanctioning countries at will and to build economic cooperation independent of unilateral US pressure, IRNA reported.

💬 “America has started this process of sanctioning any country it wants. BRICS was formed to break this kind of domination,” the president emphasized.

💬 “We have gathered here to help one another, find solutions and support each other so that we can stand against this domination and unilateralism,” the president stressed.

Pointing to cooperation with major powers including China, Russia and India, Pezeshkian said the summit’s mission is to strengthen collective resistance to unilateralism and expand independent interaction among BRICS countries.

🗣 Trump brands warnings about AI danger ‘another hoax’

US President Donald Trump dismissed warnings that advanced AI could spiral beyond human control, comparing them to what he called the climate-change “HOAX.”

💬 “I am the Hoax Buster, and I’m right now breaking another Hoax — That AI is going to take over, consume, and destroy the World, and that Robots will be marching into our Cities, and getting rid of us all!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

In a separate post, Trump insisted AI would ultimately do far more good than harm and attacked critics of data centers as “Revolutionaries for a Bad and Evil Cause.”

⚠️ The comments come just as major figures inside the AI industry are sounding increasingly urgent alarms. Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has called for slowing frontier development, warning that recursive self-improvement could outrun humanity’s ability to control advanced systems. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has backed the call to “pace the frontier,” while Elon Musk responded that “Dario is right.”

Separately, Altman recently said even a 10% chance of AI contributing to human extinction would be “unacceptable.”

🔥Ukraine’s fuel reserves and military might bled by precise Russian strikes - expert

With its air defenses operating at 5% of capacity at best, Ukraine can do little to stop Russia from dismantling the Ukrainian military capability, infrastructure and logistics, military journalist Aleksey Borzenko tells Sputnik.

🔹 Systematic elimination of gas stations hampers the Ukrainian military’s ability to resupply its forward positions. Ukrainian supply convoys are now forced to include fuel trucks to reach their destination without running dry, which in turn makes them more vulnerable to Russian attacks

🔹 Disruption of Ukrainian military’s fuel supply also means that Ukrainian troops in the field find it more difficult to refuel their power generators, which will become a serious problem for them when winter chill settles in

🔹 Attacks on Ukraine’s refueling infrastructure may soon be followed by more comprehensive strikes against the Ukrainian power grid, which may lead to strategic Ukrainian cities and industrial facilities left without power

🔹 Russian strikes have already taken out up to 70% of Ukraine’s drone storage areas and assembly sites as Russian forces focus their attacks on Ukrainian military capacity

🇵🇰💰 Can Pakistan and Africa triple trade to $15 bn by 2030? Expert weighs in

Pakistan and African countries have reaffirmed their determination to increase trade to $15 billion by 2030 at the launch of the Pakistan-Africa Economic Council (PAEC) in Islamabad.

👉 Saeed Ahmed Rid, associate professor at Islamabad's Quaid-i-Azam University, notes: "The target of $15 billion in bilateral trade by 2030 appears quite ambitious given the current geopolitical environment and Pakistan's own economic outlook." Trade stood at about $4.85 billion in 2024–25, he recalls.

Achieving the target will require moving from a transaction-based approach to a long-term market-development strategy, including investment, local partnerships, distribution networks, and integration into African value chains, Rid said. He named pharmaceuticals, surgical instruments, engineering goods, and agricultural technologies as the most promising sectors.

Pakistan's Ministry of Commerce identifies 10 priority African partners, with Egypt, Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, and Tanzania being especially important.

💬 "Egypt's importance could increase further if it joins emerging regional security arrangements involving Pakistan and Saudi Arabia," Rid says, adding that Egypt could potentially join the Mecca Joint Defense Agreement, though this remains prospective until formally confirmed.
