🇮🇹 Antonio Pigafetta era il cronista di Magellano e documentò il suo viaggio nel Nuovo Mondo nel suo Racconto del primo viaggio intorno al mondo del 1525.
“Abbiamo finalmente raggiunto la latitudine di 49°30' in direzione del Polo Sud. Un giorno vedemmo sulla riva un uomo nudo di statura gigantesca. "We finally reached the latitude of 49°30' in the direction of the South Pole. One day we saw on the shore a naked man of gigantic stature. When the giant saw us and the captain, he was extremely surprised and began to make signs by raising his finger, as if declaring that we had come from heaven. He was so tall that our heads only reached his waist.
Six days later, our people, intent on chopping wood, noticed another giant. This giant was even taller and better built than the others, and just as meek and good-natured as they were."
And because the giants were of good character towards the newcomers, they quickly began to take them prisoners and shoot the disobedient ones.

L'altezza del pozzo è di circa 5 metri, la larghezza è di oltre 70 metri. La profondità varia da 1 a 3 metri.
