Volkswagen Blocked its app from working on custom ROMs

Apparently, Volkswagen has blocked its app from working on phones using custom roms like GrapheneOS or LineageOS. Users can no longer log in or control their cars via the app.

Volkswagen support replies that:

On devices on which alternative operating systems (so-called custom ROMs, e.g. GrapheneOS, LineageOS, or similar solutions) are installed, limitations or a lack of functionality of the Volkswagen app may occur. These systems are not part of the supported application environment of Volkswagen AG for the Volkswagen app, which is why we unfortunately cannot offer technical support in such cases.

The reason for this is that the Volkswagen app relies on security-relevant system components and certified Android standards to ensure reliable and secure use of our digital services.

Epic Games has launched its own Git alternative - Lore

While Git handles large binary files with Git LFS and Perforce is proprietary and needs a live connection to its server, Lore is open source, works offline and easily handles binaries.

Lore is designed to combine what works in each: a centralized server-of-record for durability, access control, and conflict resolution; content-addressed storage with fragment-level deduplication that is as effective on a multi-gigabyte binary as on a kilobyte of text; sparse, lazy working copies that materialize only what you need; free branching; and a fully open, publicly versioned specification and MIT license. Normal editing operations—staging, committing, branching, diffing—never require a network round trip.

Telegram disabled Editing Message Feature in India

Telegram has removed the edit button option for Indian phone number accounts. Even after using VPN, the edit option either does not work or it simply doesn't appear.

However, the edit button is still visible & works only if you are an Admin in a group (both private & public) or a channel owner.

For PMs or DMs with any user or for non-admin, the edit button is disabled. It will start working for Indian phone numbers after 30th June.

The app developer verification system will also be supported by other OEMs app stores like Galaxy Store, app markets of Honor, Oppo and Xiaomi Get Apps etc.

Initially it would only roll-out in 4 countries - Thailand, Singapore, Brazil and Indonesia.

The videos are never associated with a user's identity and are deleted after the verification process. Audio is never recorded.

Google does not retain any
images or videos of a user's hand gestures beyond the verification process or use the data for any other purpose. Videos or images are automatically deleted after the challenge is complete.

Delhi High Court has rejected Telegram's plea challenging the Indian Govt decision to temporarily ban Telegram before the Re-NEET exams.

Hi everyone

Sorry for not such a happy message from myself, but unfortunately one individual has found themselves blocked from ever downloading the ROM again due to managing to get around my limits and download the ROM file ~50,000 times in 1 day.

If that was the end of it, I would just add a specific daily limit for them, but unfortunately due to their actions, they've increased the cost of the storage this month almost 3x the normal. This month alone will be ~$100 now once the last 10 days are over and counted.

In response of this, I've added their IP address to the block list at the ISP level, and will continue doing so moving forward.

I know this is probably no-one here, but I wanted to make you all aware of this, and to be transparent about monitoring this somewhat actively and hopefully dissuade anyone from doing this in the future.
