Google is preparing to let you run Linux apps on Android, just like Chrome OS
The company is working on a Terminal app that downloads, configures, runs, and interfaces with an instance of Debian in a VM.

🚨🚨🚨SN_BLACKMETA is behind the attack on Internet Archive
The reason why they attacked Internet Archive is because acc to them, the Internet Archive is NOT a non-profit organization as it belongs to the US & they supports Israel. Thus they heavily attacked it for 5hrs continuously making the wayback machine down worldwide.
I can clearly see that the hackers are broke, mentally ill persons & needs a psychiatrist asap because their thinking is :-
" We (the world) are protesting & crying because they disabled a free service".
(Quite funny how hackers didn't know Internet Archive is a great way to preserve things for the future aka archive it.)
They also thinks that whole world is a fool because Gaza & Palestine are in wars with Israel & we are not supporting them or mourning for deaths either by wars".
We have never seen a DDoS group receive such vitrolic hatred. It's heartwarming as people from all across the planet, unite for ... hatred that hackers even disabled the comments now.

Breaking: the Judge in the Epic v Google case has just issued his final ruling, which states that Google must open up its Play Store catalog to 3P app stores and distribute those 3P app stores within Google Play.
The judge also ruled that Google can't require Google Play app billing, stop developers from telling users about other ways to pay, stop developers from linking to alternative distribution methods, and more.
These are HUGE changes, the implications of which will be massive to Google's Play Store business.
Highly recommend reading The Verge's coverage for the full breakdown!
After seeing Epic Games CEO — Tim Sweeney tweets, it should be the first time we're live witnessing a CEO going insane
Epic Games CEO claims that Find My feature is "super creepy and surveillance and should NOT exist" because when the CEO's Macbook got stolen by a kid from his car, now years after the incident, Apple still shows where the Macbook is currently located.
For this tweet, Tim Sweeney even got Community noted because acc. to him, Find My is actually illegal and finding your own device is tracking and surveillance ??? 😭💀
Now, Tim Sweeney has claimed that Apple's .DS store and Microsoft's System Volume Information are "essentially tracking malware". 😭😭
In reality, .DS store in MacOS stores metadata about how the folder’s contents should be displayed, such as Icon positions, Window size & layout preferences, file's sorting order etc. and Microsoft's System Volume information is used for system restore, indexing service, volume shadow copy etc

OnePlus Gets Banned in Germany Once Again
In August 2022, a Munich court banned Oppo and OnePlus smartphones from being sold in Germany after they failed to reach a licensing deal with Nokia for its 4G and 5G technologies. The 2yr legal battle ended in January 2024, with Oppo signing a global patent licensing agreement with Nokia & OnePlus re-entering the German market.
Now after 9 months, OnePlus is once again banned in Germany over patent dispute with InterDigital, a firm that specializes in research & development for wireless technologies, especially critical 5G patents. It claims that OnePlus has infringed upon its 5G patents & as a result, German authorities have stepped in & banned the sale of OnePlus products in the country
Currently, the only items available on the OnePlus German online store are the OnePlus Pad 2 and the OnePlus Watch 2, devices that don’t have cellular support & thus remain unaffected by the ongoing legal issues.

📰 My previous post may have seemed to announce a major shift in how Telegram works. But in reality, little has changed.
🌐 Since 2018, Telegram has been able to disclose IP addresses/phone numbers of criminals to authorities, according to our Privacy Policy in most countries.
⚖️ Whenever we received a properly formed legal request via relevant communication lines, we would verify it and disclose the IP addresses/phone numbers of dangerous criminals. This process had been in place long before last week.
🤖 Our @transparency bot demonstrates exactly that. This bot shows the number of processed requests for user data.
✉️ For example, in Brazil, we disclosed data for 75 legal requests in Q1 (January-March) 2024, 63 in Q2, and 65 in Q3. In India, our largest market, we satisfied 2461 legal requests in Q1, 2151 in Q2, and 2380 in Q3.
📈 In Europe, there was an uptick in the number of valid legal requests we received in Q3. This increase was caused by the fact that more EU authorities started to use the correct communication line for their requests, the one mandated by the EU DSA law. Information about this contact point has been publicly available to anyone who viewed the Telegram website or googled “Telegram EU address for law enforcement” since early 2024.
🤝 To reduce confusion, last week, we streamlined and unified our privacy policy across different countries. But our core principles haven’t changed. We’ve always strived to comply with relevant local laws — as long as they didn’t go against our values of freedom and privacy.
🛡 Telegram was built to protect activists and ordinary people from corrupt governments and corporations — we do not allow criminals to abuse our platform or evade justice.

Arch Linux has entered into a direct collaboration with Valve
Arch Linux has officially partnered with Valve, the creators of Steam and the Steam Deck. Valve chose Arch Linux for SteamOS 3, the Steam Deck's operating system, due to its efficiency and low resource requirements.
Now, Valve is providing backing for two critical Arch Linux projects: a build service infrastructure and a secure signing enclave.
Lead developer Levente Polyak mentioned that this support will enable Arch's development team to focus more on these key projects, rather than relying solely on volunteers, speeding up the resolution of some long-standing issues.

KB5043145, the most recent optional update for Windows 11 to date, causes multiple issues for many users. The most serious one is a blue screen of death that makes the PC unbootable. Microsoft has confirmed the bug and is working on a solution.
After upgrading the device to Windows 11 OS Build 22621.4249, a number of users faced the inability to start the computer. The only solution that was of help for them is to uninstall the update from the recovery environment.
Sometimes, the bug makes Windows 11 to start into the BitLocker recover environment, especially after several failed recovery attempts.
Among the mentioned BSOD issues, users also report that the same update may prevent USB ports from working. As most modern peripheral devices connect via USB, this breaks them. Keyboards, mouses, and webcam stop working. The latter issue mainly affects N6005 and N5105 Intel NUCs, and Asus TUF / ROG laptops, and other gaming products from the same vendor.
If you are affected - then uninstall the buggy update: wusa.exe /uninstall /kb:5043145
. Run the command from WinRE.
Telegram's reporting options have been extended with new categories, including "I don't like it”, “Terrorism”, “Copyright” & “It's not illegal, but it must be taken down”, offering more detailed reporting choices.

CVSS 9.9 Rated Linux Vulnerability Affects CUPS
The hyped Linux 9.9 rated CVE doesn't affect the Linux kernel but rather CUPS — The print server commonly used on Linux systems. Simone Margaritelli discovered this vulnerability & has shared a write-up which is summed up as:
"A remote unauthenticated attacker can silently replace existing printers’ (or install new ones) IPP urls with a malicious one, resulting in arbitrary command execution (on the computer) when a print job is started (from that computer)."
CVE-2024-47176, CVE-2024-47076, CVE-2024-47175, and CVE-2024-47177 have been assigned to these CUPS issues. There are also "several other bugs that are more or less exploitable."
This remote code execution issue can be exploited in public Internet via a UDP packet to port 631 without needing any authentication, assuming the CUPS port is open through your router/firewall.
LAN attacks are also possible via spoofing. It also affects some BSDs, Oracle Solaris, Google Chrome OS etc.

Xiaomi Mi A2 smartphone exploded in India
A user claims that his mother's Mi A2 smartphone blasted at midnight while it was on charging. It was being charged with original Xiaomi charger with the help of OnePlus's official braided cable. No part of the smartphone was changed/replaced and it had Original Xiaomi battery inside.
His mother didn't even realize that the Xiaomi smartphone exploded untill the room was filled with smoke all around. The charger and cable are fine and they didn’t catch fire. Thankfully, she is safe as the explosion didn't cause any injury.

Here's a demo of Android's in-development Terminal app for running Linux apps!
The Terminal app currently doesn't automatically download and configure the Linux VM for you, so the developer who sent me this had to use the LinuxInstaller app to download Debian.
(I sped the video up a bit in the middle because it takes some time to boot the VM for the first time.)
I have a lot of questions now
Update: the reason this existed was because Discord wanted a native app like Telegram but they cancelled the plans later maybe because official Telegram is shit & broken as well.

The wayback machine has been compromised
Final update and confirmations:
The compromise has been confirmed via BleepinComputer and TroyHunt. 31,000,000 users impacted. There is no confirmed information on how the site was compromised. No Threat Actor(s) have been attributed to the compromise. More information is available on their respective social media platforms. More information will probably become available in the following hours or days.
Unrelated to the defacement and compromise, Sn_darkmeta claims to have been DDoSing Internet Archive. They state they're DDoSing the website because the United States government supports Israel and The Internet Archive belongs (?) to the United States.

Google has announced that they are appealing this decision and asking the court to pause Epic's requested changes to the Play Store and Android.
Читать полностью…BREAKING: Xiaomi Plans To Stop Offering Bootloader Unlocking
Following a fake news Last year related to shutting down offering bootloader unlocking to smartphones launched after May, 2024, now, even famous leakers are claiming that internally, Xiaomi has indeed made plans to shutdown the bootloader unlocking service for global users by the end of 2025.
For China, since the Bootloader unlocking period was over last month, it will once again resume after Xiaomi 15 series global launch in 2025. Xiaomi already collects a lot of data to identify which user in China unlocked the bootloader but since that can't be done globally, Xiaomi might ultimately shut down the service for them.
If this happens, the following changes will take place on Earth:
• RIP Xiaomi federations
• People will think 1000 times before buying due to HypeOS
• Some users will finally understand that hardware-quality matters more that on-paper specs and cheap price
• NO Xiaomi buildbots

Google Denies Allegations in Epic Lawsuit
Recently, Epic Games sued Samsung for bydefault enabling the "auto-blocker" feature, which automatically blocks users from installing apps unless they come from “authorized sources”. Epic claims there’s NO process for any rival store to become “authorized.”
Epic also sued Google alongside alleging that Google was involved in the decision to make Samsung's Auto Blocker feature be enabled by default. However, in an interview, Epic Games CEO admitted that they DO NOT have any proof that Google & Samsung colluded and they're hoping that comes out in the legal discovery process
Google has now publicly not only denied making Samsung create the Auto Blocker feature but also denied making them turn it on by default, which is the core allegation made by Epic in its latest lawsuit.

Mobile Retailers Urge Ban on Chinese Brands Over Anti-Competitive Practices
Mobile retailers in India, represented by the All India Mobile Retailers Association (AIMRA), are urging the government to ban Chinese-owned brands like iQOO, Poco, and OnePlus. They accuse these brands of engaging in anti-competitive practices by selling products exclusively on e-commerce platforms like Amazon, harming local retailers and causing financial losses to the government.
AIMRA, along with the Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), is pushing for stricter e-commerce regulations to ensure fair competition and protect traditional retail businesses. They also want to address issues like predatory pricing and tax evasion through policy changes.

Guess I'm lucky as it didn't auto install
You probably heard about Epic's latest lawsuit against Google, which alleges they were involved in the decision to make Samsung's Auto Blocker feature be enabled by default in the latest version of One UI.
(Auto Blocker, if you aren't aware, is a feature that, when enabled, blocks sideloading apps from outside the Google Play Store or Samsung Galaxy Store.)
Google is now coming out to say that Epic's lawsuit is a "meritless and dangerous move" and that they did not request Samsung create their Auto Blocker feature. Google goes on to state that "Android device makers are free to innovate and design additional safety features for their devices."
I find the use of the word "create" in Google's statement to be interesting. Epic didn't allege that Google made Samsung create the Auto Blocker feature but rather made them turn it on by default. However, Epic admitted that they don't yet have any proof that there was any collusion. We'll have to see how things go in court.
OpenAI to become for-profit and give Sam Altman equity
OpenAI is working on a plan to restructure its core business into a for-profit benefit corporation. The whole point of OpenAI was to be nonprofit and safety-first, not anymore. ;)
The OpenAI non-profit will continue to exist and own a minority stake in the for-profit company, which would basically have no power now.
Sam Altman, who emphasized that he didn’t have any equity in the company, will also receive equity for the first time, which could be worth $150 billion after the restructuring, in addition to ultimate control over OpenAI.
If OpenAI were to retroactively remove profit caps from investments, this would in effect transfer billions in value from a non-profit to for-profit investors. Unless the non-profit were appropriately compensated, this would be a money grab.
For those who are thinking that enabling Circle to Search on Xiaomi 14T series just by changing the date could be Google skill issues are wrong because Xiaomi hardcoded it inside their system launcher
Given below is the code for the proof.
public static boolean invokeOmni(Context context, int i, int i2) {
if (!hasCtsFeature(context) || !isSettingsLongPressHomeAssistantEnabled(context)) {
Log.d("CircleToSearchHelper", "circle to search is not available");
return false;
} else if (LocalDate.now().isBefore(LocalDate.of(2024, 10, 6))) {
Log.d("CircleToSearchHelper", "Current Date is before 2024.10.6");
return false;
} else if (isSceneForbid(context, i)) {
return false;
} else {
return OmniHelper.notifyToStartCtS(i2);
}
}
Circle to Search isn't rolling out for the Xiaomi 14T series until October 6...but I enabled it early 👀
It's pretty funny how I did it, too, lol. All I had to do was be on the right version of HyperOS and change the date to October 7.
Some controversy today as YouTube tech reviewer Marques Brownlee 'Panels' app is getting pretty substantial backlash.
tl;dr Marques Brownlee app, 'Panels', offers high-definition wallpapers from Digital Artists for $49.99/year. People criticized the app for an array of reasons, beside the idea of paying $49.99/year for wallpapers on your cell phone, the app requests tracking information, and contains ads.
Unsurprisingly, and as is tradition, internet nerds quickly began inspecting the app under the metaphorical microscope. Security researcher @I_Am_Jakoby discovered the apps API is wildly insecure. He wrote a simple script which programmatically scrapes every high-definition wallpaper.
Attached image is the script he shared. If you want to experiment with it, just OCR it or something.
